Description:
British vampire psychiatrist and former mercenary Cage Reynolds returns to Penton, Alabama, looking for a permanent home. The town has been ravaged by the ongoing vampire war and the shortage of untainted human blood, and now the vampires and humans that make up the Omega Force are trying to rebuild. Cage hopes to help the cause, put down roots in Penton, and resolve his relationship with Melissa Calvert. The last thing he expects is to find himself drawn to Robin Ashton, a trash-talking eagle shape-shifter and new Omega recruit.

Meanwhile, as a dangerous saboteur wreaks havoc in Penton, the ruthless Vampire Tribunal leader Matthias Ludlam has been freed on the eve of his scheduled execution. But by whom? And to what end? As war and chaos rage on, love isnโ€™t something Cage is looking for, but will his attraction to Robin distract him from the danger living among them?

Review:

Allegiance by Susannah Sandlin is the 4th book in her Penton Legacy series, and I have to admit that I haven’t read the others, but you can read this as a stand alone. I have to admit that I’m going to be going back to the beginning.

What a fantastic read!

This world is very evolved, the writer had taken a lot of time and effort in creating this world, and it shows, I could clearly see the homes in Penton, that the vampires have created for themselves.

The vamps in this are a slightly different, they have familiars or fam, whom are bonded to the master vamps, (so if the human or shifter is in trouble, their master can assist, or if their master is in danger, he can syphon off their energy to help him).ย  Master vamps bond to humans, using an exchange of blood. And vamps don’t share blood sources. So two or three vamps will feed off the same human. But it’s usually 1 master and then 2 lower ranking vamp. Those vamps are usually close to the master. Humans are a rare commodity, lots have been vaccinated, and their blood is poisonous to the vampires.

We meet Cage almost right away, and as the male lead, I wasn’t sure, he had all the makings of an alpha, since his attitude stinks !!

He ran away from a woman who loved and needed him, and now he is back and hoping to gauge her reaction, and where they go from there. He is playing mind games, now, I’m all for games :), but Melissa is a newly turned vamp, and she has deep feelings for Cage. And now we throw Robin in the mix !

I love Robin, her loud and proud attitude makes me smile, and the author has given her some great one liners ๐Ÿ™‚

Melissa was turned in the last book (I think) and her and Cage have some history.

Robin is part of the newly put together Omega force team, (oh and she’s a shapeshifter)

So, who will Cage pick ?

There is your resident bad guy Mathias, and from the vampire tribunal (their sort of government) a vamp who wants Penton shut down. There is a large cast of characters, most are from previous books. And also a few new ones.

I really liked this book, and I’m eager to read the previous three books.

So yeah, if you like vamps, shifters, bad guys at every turn and humans who live with them, I think this could be the book for you.

Oh, and Cage settles for ……….. ?ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
