Told from several third person perspectives A COVERT AFFAIR follows the investigation into a series of missing women in the Miami area-most of the women with a connection to a women’s shelter or one of the restaurants owned by Amelia Rios. What ensues is the search for the people responsible, and the horrendous discovery of the truth behind the discovery of the missing bodies.

The relationship between Nathan and Amelia is one of second chances. At seventeen and eighteen years old respectively, Amelia and Nathan had been high school lovers but life and a possible career in the military called Nathan away, and Amelia was forced to push away the only man she would ever love to keep his dreams alive. Fast forward to present day where our couple rekindle what they once had but Amelia kept secret the real reason for pushing Nathan away. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

There is a large ensemble case of secondary and supporting cast including several of Amelia’s employees, as well as Nathan’s Special Ops agents and friends-Cade and Maria (Bound To Danger #2); Hannah and Dax (Chasing Danger 2.5).Levi and Selene (Shattered Duty 3) , and Karen Stafford (Edge of Danger 4). We are introduced to several of Miami’s players in the import/export trade, as well as the requisite evil whose own connections to Amelia are too close to home.

A COVERT AFFAIR is a fast paced, exciting story of suspense, mystery, romance and a second chance at love. The premise is exhilarating and intense: the characters are imaginative and charismatic; the romance is provocative and sensual. The happily ever after fast forwards the story line a couple of months where we are witness to the start of Nathan and Amelia’s new life together. Katie Reus DEADLY OPS series is intriguing, realistic and seductive.

Tucker Pankov and his team of DEA agents-Cole Erickson , Forest Kane, and Paxton Brooks had just lost their mentor and head of the DEA Max Southers to a suspected terrorist attack but the men soon found themselves the number one suspects in the murder and a series of attacks against the American people. When each member of Tucker’s team (including our hero) is targeted for death, Tucker knows that someone inside could be calling the shots. With all of their resources cut off, Tucker and his men ‘kidnap’ NSA analyst Karen Stafford in the hopes of contacting the only man Tucker and his men can trust-head of the NSA Wes Burkhart. What ensues is the search for the people responsible, and a building relationship between Karen and Tucker.

EDGE OF DANGER is an action packed, fast paced, lust to love storyline that focuses on power, greed, money and betrayal. While Tucker and his men remain hidden, Karen must play go-between in order to help ferret out the person(s) responsible for the attacks and the death of Max Southers. While in seclusion Tucker and Karen’s relationship will become personal, and in the end, could very well be used against Tucker if something were to happen to their ‘kidnapped victim.’ The $ex scenes are romantic, erotic and intense. Tucker is a man who knows how to please the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Tucker and Karen is a quick enemies to friends to lovers storyline-a storyline that takes our couple from strangers to lovers in a matter of hours to days. There is no denying their immediate attraction, chemistry and lust for one another; a profession of love comes very quickly under extreme circumstances and threats against their lives.

The secondary and supporting characters include all of Tucker’s team mates, as well as Selene Wolfe (Shattered Duty #3), Wesley Burkhart –head of the NSA; NSA agent Nathan Ortiz (whose storyline is next in A COVERT AFFAIR), and several other agents from the NSA, DEA, CIA and the local PD. The requisite evil has many faces, and a number of connections within the various agencies and the political elite.

EDGE OF DANGER is a story with suspense, mystery, action and romance. The premise is intriguing, gripping and impassioned; the characters are intense and fascinating; the romance is sensual and provocative. Katie Reus has a talent for capturing your imagination.

REVIEW: SHATTERED DUTY is the third full length installment in Katie Reus’s adult, contemporary Deadly Ops military, romantic suspense series. This is former NSA Special Agent Levi Lazaro and Special Agent Selene Wolfe’s storyline. SHATTERED DUTY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Levi Lazaro has gone rogue. Two years earlier, following the brutal rape and murder of his wife and unborn child, Levi went ‘off reservation’ in the hopes of taking down everyone responsible for the death of his wife. A chance to infiltrate the organization of the man Levi believes is connected to the murder of his wife, finds our hero reluctantly teaming up with special agent Selene Wolfe, as she searches for information regarding a poisonous toxin and the missing scientist associated with a potential biological war. What ensues is the building relationship between two people whose lives are connected by both the past and the present.

Selene knows that Levi is a wanted man. The NSA has kept tabs on the former agent knowing that their man is grieving and he has set his sights on the take down and destruction of everyone responsible for destroying his life. Levi has issues of trust and in this, he wars with the guilt about betraying his wife’s memory, and his attraction to Selene. Levi is a man who is unable to let go of the past and is determined to reach his target anyway he can. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and erotic; the quick build to love is a foregone conclusion but one never expected by our grieving hero.

Several of the previous storyline characters (and agents) play a secondary and supporting role (if only by way of mention) throughout the story including Jack Stone (Targeted book 1) who once again, is present to curtail any potential threat to his men. The people responsible for the murder of Levi’s family know their future is limited; and the requisite evil will die by the hands of the man who has spent two years planning his demise.

Deadly Ops is a phenomenal series with action and suspense; romance and love; retribution and revenge. The build up to the final take down follows two paths pitting Selene and Levi in a battle for the ultimate control of their future and their hearts. Katie Reus’s storylines are movies for the mind !

REVIEW: CHASING DANGER is a novella in Katie Reus’s adult, contemporary Deadly Ops romantic suspense series. This is NSA Agent Dax Costas, and nurse Hannah Young’s storyline. Chasing Danger can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

The storyline follows Hannah as she considers what it is she wants from Dax Costas. Dax disappeared without a word, a few weeks earlier, and in this Hannah believes she has been played like a fool. When Dax returns, and is unable to tell Hannah where he had been, Hannah knows it is time to move on even if Dax wants a chance at something more.

Hannah has a stalker; she is the target of a man trying to clean up loose ends, and Hannah knows his secret. What ensues are several attempts on Hannah’s life wherein Dax will take matter into his own hands. If the Miami PD are unable to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, Dax will make sure that Hannah’s stalker is stopped-once and for all.

The relationship between Hannah and Dax is a slight second chance build. When Dax disappeared, Hannah all but gave up on the sexy, secretive man but she was unaware as to the extent of his undercover operations and going black. The $ex scenes are intimate, romantic, and a little bit steamy. Katie excels at intoxicating sexy romance.

The secondary and supporting characters include Hannah’s coworkers and friends; and we are introduced to several of Dax’s fellow agents at the NSA.

CHASING DANGER is a quick and provocative read. There is drama, betrayal, mystery and suspense. The reader is pulled into an addicting and passionate storyline where the characters are definitely in the driver’s seat. Sit back and let Katie Reus seduce your mind.

REVIEW: BOUND TO DANGER is the second release in Katie Reus’s adult, contemporary romance Deadly Ops action/suspense series focusing on a group of Special Ops agents. Although it is the second storyline in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. This is community activist Maria Cervantes and NSA agent Cade O’Reilly’s storyline.

The premise focuses on a terrorist attack at a local mansion where the rich and famous had gathered. The only survivor is Maria Cervantes and the NSA wants to know why and what she knows. Enter Cade O’Reilly-Maria’s brother’s former commander in Afghanistan-and the man that walked out of Maria’s life eight years earlier. BOUND TO DANGER is a second chance storyline that places Maria in the line of fire when the terrorist cell that perpetrated the explosion set their sights on other targets including Maria. How much does Maria know and how did she survive the explosion?

The relationship between Maria and Cade is a friends to lovers/second chance story. Maria and Cade became email ‘pen pals’ while Cade was stationed in Afghanistan with Maria’s brother Riel. As the lone survivor of a rescue mission that went horribly wrong, Cade has had to deal with the guilt for eight years-and in doing so, walked out of Maria’s life without any explanation as to why. Now that Maria has been targeted and questioned, Cade’s protective alpha side wants Maria safe so that he can rekindle what was started years before.

The secondary characters include the members of the terrorist organization, their intended victims, and the men and women who serve in the NSA. Jack Stone from TARGETED (Deadly Ops #1) joins Cade and the team in Miami which gives the series a sense of cohesion and familiarity.

Katie Reus has the amazing ability of pulling the reader onto the front lines of the action and drama. BOUND TO DANGER is a fast paced, intelligent and spirited story of suspense, mystery, intrigue and murder. We watch as two people are pulled closer together by their wants, their needs and their building love. It is a story of heartbreak and grief; friendship and love; betrayal and revenge. What goes on behind closed doors will become the catalyst for an organization that wants revenge for acts so revolting, that anyone who stands in their way will become fair game in an international war.

REVIEW: TARGETED is the first storyline in Katie Reus’s new contemporary, suspense Deadly Ops series that introduces the former marines and military personnel currently working for the NSA.

Jack Stone is a former Marine sniper and a man with a secret past. His latest undercover assignment is to infiltrate the South Beach Medical Supply (SBMS) company and uncover the connections to a multi-billion dollar drug cartel and arms dealer. And the assignment becomes personal when he is forced to work alongside SBMS employee Sophie Moreno – the very woman who owns him-heart and soul.

TARGETED is a storyline that pulls the reader into a non-stop, action packed adventure where two would-be strangers have much more in common than uncovering the truth. On the run throughout most of the novel, Sophie and Jack’s attraction to one another will become a definite hazard as Jack’s need to protect Sophie is a distraction they do not need.

Katie introduces several secondary characters including Levi, a former friend and missing member of the NSA. Levi’s story is building and you know that Katie has plans on the horizon for Levi. Levi is a man whose life has been destroyed and he is on the hunt for the person or people responsible.

There is plenty of backstory that allows the reader a deeper understanding into Sophie and Jack’s pasts although there is a major gap in the earlier years after Sophie turns away from the only man she has ever loved. It would have added a deeper understanding to the events that occurred in the backstory and history that was only revealed towards the end of the novel.

Katie Reus pulls the reader into a storyline of second chances, betrayal and the truth about forgotten lives and hidden pasts. Sometimes the heart knows where it belongs and a second chance at love is only the beginning.
