Description:
Chained to a demon queen for hundreds of years, fallen angel Ramiel has given up on his brothers and sisters––and humanity. He has seven days away from hell to replenish his power and that’s all he cares about––right up until his meeting with the much too innocent Kyria. He fell for that act before and it landed him in hell, he won’t be making that mistake again.

To save her sick father, Kyria knows she must find Ramiel. He’s dark, brooding and everything Kyria should be scared of, but the haunted look in his eyes makes her think there’s more to him. The tattoos and chains don’t frighten her either, but the connection she has with him does. When strange creatures attack her, Ramiel steps in to protect her. Ramiel believes he’s reluctantly helping Kyria, but what neither of them knows is that she may be the one to save them all…

Review:

Reading the back cover of Unchained Desire by R.C. Alvarez, I was really interested to see how this would go…

Ramiel has been chained to a Demon Queen for centuries, humanity, oh please, the humans are all selfish and self centered. The only family he cares about are his brothers and sisters, and he hasn’t heard or seen them in a while. He is given seven days to replenish his energy (he needs blood) and that’s all he cares about now.

He wasn’t always this way, but meeting an innocent (who wasn’t so innocent) he was trapped, he now serves a Demon Queen, tortured and chained. But he hopes one day to be released, but he doesn’t know how or if ever.

Kyria is on the run!! Why?? And why does the tattoo like mark on the back of her neck ache? It’s been like that for the past two weeks. Her father has given her no choice, they have to run. After six years of some semblance of normality, they have to leave the ranch they’ve been living in and run again. Why? The cartel have found Darius (her dad) and Kyria, her mother had been murdered years ago and are after Darius. Her only friend Eli is concerned, but Darius is convinced Eli is part of the cartel (Eli’s father is the head, supposedly) and her dad keeps ranting about demons and keeping her safe.

In the bar, Ramiel is having a hard time, he feels out of sorts, he knows he should feed, but there is something not right. And he’s proven correct…. in she walks with an innocent and purity that sets his teeth on edge, but also a want (and last time he paid for it dearly) and when she approaches him to help her father (a man that helped put him where he is today) Ramiel tells her that he won’t help.

Kyria is crushed, her father needs help and she thought this Ramiel works help, but he’s arrogant and rude and really hot? but when he tells Kyria that her dad doesn’t deserve help, she needs to convince him.

And when a demon attacks Kyria, Ramiel has no choice but to help. But there is a price, and he doesn’t want to pay it. But Kyria could be Ramiel’s saviour, but will he trust her enough? And what secret does Kyria hold?

Unchained Desire was well written.  Ramiel and Kyria connected and the story really flowed. Very descriptive, I really liked it.

RAPTURE (McKenzie Brothers #2) by Lexi Buchanan

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 30, 3013

Sebastian has never in his thirty-four years had such a strong attraction to a woman. Oh, he’s felt instant lust before, more times that he cares to remember, but there’s something about Carla that’s different and he finds it difficult to get her out of his head, which is where she needs to be considering she’s dating his brother.

Carla has been pretending to date Ramon for a while now to keep a violent ex of hers away and to keep Ramon’s family off his back. They’ve been friends for a couple of years, so it was only natural that they’d help each other out, except she hasn’t bargained on falling for Ramon’s brother, Sebastian.

••••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: RAPTURE is the second full length novel (and 3rd storyline) in Lexi Buchanan’s McKenzie Brothers series focusing on the five McKenzie Brothers (Michael, Sebastian, Ramon, Ruben and Lucien) and the women (or men) that they love. This is Sebastian and Carla’s story-one of forbidden love and secret pasts.

Sebastian wants Carla but there is a problem-Carla lives with Sebastian’s brother Ramon and the brothers all made a promise to each other that they would never date a brother’s ex. So for five months, Sebastian watches Carla at family dinners hoping that his brother will tire of his new love. But something about Carla and Ramon’s relationship doesn’t sit well with Sebastian and it isn’t only Seb that notices.

As the storyline develops, we watch as the sexual tension between Carla and Sebastian heightens with every encounter and get together. The couple met at Michael and Lily’s wedding and there was an instant attraction and connection. When the truth about Ramon and Carla’s relationship is revealed, Sebastian is quick to profess his love and his need for the woman who has occupied his every thought for months.

A good portion of the story revolves around the anxiety and angst of forbidden love as Sebastian tries to keep his distance from what he believes is his brother’s lover. When Sebastian and Carla are finally able to connect, there is someone else waiting to take the couple down.

RAPTURE is a fast paced and interesting look at sibling rivalry, family dynamics and falling in love. There is plenty of sinful sex once Sebastian and Carla become a couple and the insta-love is professed in a heart beat. The storyline has many humorous moments as the family gathers for the birth of Michael and Lily’s twins and there is something about Lucien’s relationship with Lily that has everyone questioning the same.

Lexi Buchanan combines humor, heartbreak and the love of a family to pull the reader into a storyline about one man’s forbidden desire and his need for the woman who has consumed his soul.

We are now settled in a lovely town, in County Cavan. The kids love their schools, once they get there that is.

My eldest daughter, is on the Irish Junior Archery Team, and spends her time training. At least she does when her dad can get her off her ipad, reading or listening to music.

I have recently joined the book review blog, Book Addict Mumma and made a wonderful new friend in Kristy Louise Garbutt, my new boss!

My kindle is loaded with too many books to mention, as I absolutely love to read when I have the chance.

Rapture (The Fallen Angels #4) by J.R.Ward

Rapture-Book 4 in The Fallen Angels series by J.R. Ward

RAPTURE (The Fallen Angels #4) by J.R.Ward-Book Description:

Out of the wickedly inventive imagination of #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward comes a world where sin and salvation collide in a battle for the future of mankind—where a cynical fallen angel struggles against the seven deadly sins and a demon’s lure over seven chosen souls…

Mels Carmichael, reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, gets the shock of her life when a man stumbles in front of her car outside the local cemetery. After the accident, his amnesia is just the kind of mystery she likes to solve, but she soon discovers they’re in over their heads with his past. Over their heads with passion, too…

As shadows walk the line between reality and another realm, and her lover’s memory begins to come back, the two of them learn that nothing is truly dead and buried. Especially when you’re trapped in a no holds barred war between angels and demons. With a soul on the line, and Mels’s heart at risk, what in Heaven—or in Hell—will it take to save them both?

Review:

Mels Carmichael is at a crossroads of sorts in her life and in her career. She moved back to Caldwell, New York from New York City when her father, a Caldwell police officer, was killed in an auto accident three years earlier. Not wanting her mother to be alone, she gave up her job at a prestigious paper in NYC to work at the Caldwell Courier Journal in order to be there for her mother. Mels is on her way home late one night, when someone walks into her lane of traffic. She hits him and crashes her car. Little did she know that things as she knew them would never be the same. She has no idea of the battle that wages between good and evil, right there in Caldwell.

Matthias awakens on a grave, naked and cold. And has no idea how he got there and no memory of his past life. He does know that he needs to gather himself and get moving. Once he gets out of the graveyard, he is struck by a car and the next he knows, he wakes up in the hospital. When the door opens, in walks Mels Carmichael, there to apologize for the accident and he knows as soon as he lays eyes on her that she will be part of his life.

Jim Herron, team leader for the Angels on Earth, and his sidekick Adrian, have no idea who the soul is that they are to save. Nigel, Jim’s boss from Heaven, tells him that it will be very plain to him who it will be. And when Jim sees Matthias, he knows the he has one more shot to save him. He had already lost against Devina, the Devil, when Matthias’ soul was up for saving in a previous match up. And Devina won. However, due to Devina’s cheating, the Maker placed his soul back in play and gave him one more chance to redeem himself. Matthias and Jim have a past as he was Jim’s boss when they were members of XOps, an organization that took care of “problems” for the government, but that the government would never acknowledge knowing about.

Matthias is drawn to Mels and once Jim realizes that, he knows that she is the key to saving Matthias. The bigger problem? Devina figures it out as well. Matthias’ memories start slowly coming back and the race begins for those out to get him. The XOps that he is no longer a part of and Devina who wants his soul. Could Jim save his soul? You’ll have to read the story to find out.

I was really looking forward to this book. I am a J.R. Ward junkie, and even though this series started out slowly, the books got better each time out. I loved that Mels was such a strong heroine. And loved the fact that Matthias wanted to be……….better. The romance that developed between the two was great, and once Mels figured out that all was not as it seemed, I loved it even more. The problem I had was that Nigel only made a few appearances and Colin (Nigel’s partner in Heaven) didn’t show up at all. They were a big part of the previous book and even though we think all is well with them, I would have liked that to have been confirmed in this book. And, Eddie (another of Jim’s cohorts and Adrian’s best friend) is still dead. I know down to my toes that he will come back, but the question is when. I can only guess that it will be something spectacular when it happens. And, I will say the ending had me saying “REALLY JIM?!?!?”………… Unfortunately for me, this book was a bit slow. We get to see Devina quite often, but there just wasn’t enough Angel action for me. With all of that said, it was a good story, just not as WARDish as I was anticipating. Oh, and for those of you wondering about Dog, this is the one for you!
