Description:
He thought he was in control until she snuck into his heart…

Carter Hill walked away from a perfectly fine life and relationship…all for a career she’s chased since she was fourteen. Years and a PhD later, she loves her job as a water rights consultant. At the same time, now that all her brothers are happily married, she’s lonely and wanting more. But the only man in her life is Logan – super serious, no sense of humor, and friend-zoned. Or is he? Perhaps a sexy, no-strings affair with a man more driven than she is could help her move on.

Logan Cartez doesn’t date, do relationships, or worry about commitment. He’s married to his job – making sure what destroyed his family ranch and their legacy doesn’t happen to others. When Carter propositions him, what began as a passionate and unforgettable night soon develops into more. Logan finds himself doing things he swore he never would, and the feisty, brilliant, blue-eyed rancher’s daughter has him thinking about so much more than work.

Review:

Landing the Lawmen by Kadie Scott is the 5th book in her The Texas Hill series, which  can be read in any order, but as the siblings all get married it makes sense to read them the way the author planned.

Carter is the only daughter in the Hill household. Watching her brothers find love, Carter doesn’t regret her decision to leave family and love behind to pursue her dream job. But it’s a lonely life, has she left it to late? Well maybe not, yummy Logan hits all those buttons. An affair might be just the thing they both need…..

Logan doesn’t need love, it makes life messy, he needs to concentrate on saving the little farmers and their rights. And Carter Hill is the right person for the job, (she is a water rights consultant) he just needs to ignore her as a woman, a fine complete package.

With the arrangement of a no-strings affair, both Logan and Carter pursue it wholeheartedly. But when Carter’s mother is taken ill things change for both of them.

I’ve read all of the previous books in this series, and loved them all.

The descriptions the author gives is great. The attention to detail is very good. The characters are funny and the flirting is funny and very light hearted.

Both characters have been hurt in the past, so I see where both Logan and Carter have issues with trust.

I’d happily recommend this book.

Review:

Claiming the Cowboy for Christmas by Kadie Scott is the 4th book in her The Hills of Texas series.  Ashley is glad to be home, she’s missed her family, especially her twin Taylor. Two years has been long enough. But if she stays that’s a whole different matter.

Taylor is marrying Ashley’s ex!!! Could that be anymore awkward? To outsiders and Taylor, yes it is, but to Ashley, her and Eric broke up a long time ago. She’s moved on, she’s happy for the couple, the only reason she stayed away…..  to give the gossips time to move on….. no such luck!!! Ashley is met with awkward silences and pitying looks!!

Taking Taylor out on her bachelorette party is an ideal way to put the gossips to bed for go. But as it goes from bad to worse, Ashley is wanting to head back to Dallas, pretty darn quick. Thank goodness she’s only here till the New Year, surely she can survive till then?

Jennings Hill has always loved Ashley, from the first day at preschool until the day she dumped him to be with Eric. They were best friends, did everything together, and then he had to watch his best friend change to please the boyfriend. So to hide his feelings from everyone (including himself) he began to antagonise Ashley. Never getting close to her. But that’s all about to change, dancing with Ashley has set the gossips in motion. What’s a guy to do? Does he help an old friend out? Or does he just walk away and leave her to deal with it?

Jennings asks Ashley if she’ll looking into a case of fraud for him, and Ashley quickly agrees, they might not be friends now, but they were a long time ago.

The more time they spend together, the more Ashley sees him in a different light. Yes, she may have had a slight crush on him, but he was her best friend, she really shouldn’t be imaging him in that way!!!

Jennings on the other hand thinks Ashley still isn’t over Eric!! He’s frustrated, why can’t she see what’s in front of her?

So ……will Ashley stay in Texas? Will she convince Jennings that she is totally over Eric? And will Eric finally get the girl he has always longed for?

Description:
One daring kiss with the playboy tempts the good girl, but can she tame him?

Autry Hill may be a cowboy to his boots, but he’s also gained quite the reputation as a charmer and playboy. His parents aren’t sure he’s ready to take the reins of the family’s prosperous Texas ranch, so they set up a challenge: No women or scandal for the next six months and the ranch house he grew up in is his. Easy peasy, Autry thinks. He’s already tired of late nights and romancing, until elementary school teacher Beth Cooper happens to cross his path. Suddenly Autry is losing his heart, his mind, and what’s left of his reputation.

Good girl teacher Beth Cooper is far too practical to fall for Autry Hill, even if she had a crush on him way back when. The man’s been breaking hearts since middle school. But when he becomes her unexpected champion and then they work together to help one of Beth’s troubled students who’s about to lose everything, she sees a different side of Autry – serious, compassionate, determined and dedicated. And that Autry is nearly impossible to resist. Does she need to?

Review:

Taming the Troublemaker by Kadie Scott is the 3rd book in her The Hills of Texas series.

I’ve read the other books in this series, but you don’t need to worry, as each one is a stand-alone, not an ongoing story. We do catch up with previous characters from the other two books, but it only adds to the story.

Autry is ready to take the reins of the family ranch. But his family thinks he’s not ready, his playboy past hasn’t convinced them, but they plan to change his ways. They give him an ultimatum….. clean up your act, stay out of trouble for six months and ranch is yours.

Easy ….. well …. it would be if it wasn’t for a series of meetings with a certain teacher. He’s never really noticed Beth much, her two sisters were always the Center of attention, but helping out at the local school Autry sees Beth in a different light….. but a deal is a deal, so Autry can’t act on his feelings, but surely a few kisses won’t hurt ?

Beth loves her job, she’s a good teacher, but she has a problem …..well she has a problem child at school. She needs help, and that comes in the shape of her school crush Autry, (he never noticed the plain Jane, her two sisters were far prettier than she could ever be) community service sees him helping her, and together they help the kid.

So will Autry break his no women for six months promise to his dad and lose the ranch, or will Beth be worth the risk ?  You will need to read this book to find out.

Resisting the Rancher by Kadie Scott – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo

Description:
First comes marriage, then comes…

Rusty Walker has spent her entire life trying to earn her tough, ranching father’s respect and approval by learning the business inside and out. But now her uncompromising parent has decreed she must marry if she wants to inherit. Worse, her husband has to be someone who can help her run the business. As if she needs it!

Williams Hill kissed Rusty in a bar in an act of temporary insanity, and lost his heart to her on the spot. Despite the complications to his own rodeo stock business, he agrees to marry the feisty red-head, hoping to woo her once they’re hitched. But she only views him with suspicion and resentment.

Can this soft-spoken Texas cowboy convince his proud wife, who’s never known unconditional love, that she is everything he wants?

Review:

Resisting the Rancher by Kadie Scott is the second book in her The Hills of Texas series.

We pick up from the first book (Saving the Sheriff, Holly and Cash)

Rusty is hard working, and has spent all her life trying to please her father, and the smack in the face comes from her father withholding the ranch from her….. the only way she will get it is by marrying !!!

She meets Will at a local rodeo, and when her father’s ultimatum arrives, Will offers to marry her, no strings, no commitment, he will walk away at the end of it.

But Rusty isn’t sure, yes he’s cute, but why would he offer ?

Will is Cash’s brother (from book 1) and offers to help his sister in law out. And as the book progresses, Will actually falls for his feisty “wife”, and wants it to be a real marriage, but proving to Rusty that he means it will be no mean feat, her father instilled distrust into at an early age…..“Nobody does something for nothing” So will Rusty fall for her Rodeo husband? Or will her lack of trust push her further away?

It’s a good little read, and followed on nicely from book one, but you don’t need to read the first one.

Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott – a Review

Saving the SheriffAmazon / B&N / Kobo

Description:
There’s a storm brewing…

The day his wife died, Sheriff Cash Hill discovered she was leaving him for another man, one she’d loved since before their marriage. How could the single dad ever trust another woman again? But when Georgia’s best friend, Holly, comes back to town, something about Holly’s sweet, sassy vulnerability has his protective instincts kicking in hard.

Holly Jensen left La Colina, Texas with regrets. She’s returned home to work as the new large animal vet and to watch over her best friend’s daughter. But Holly’s knowledge of Georgia’s past could rip a family apart. And she’s reluctant to go to the sexy…and single…sheriff, as he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with her.

Both are faced with a choice…stay locked in the past or allow their reservations to be silenced by a passion hotter than Texas summer nights. Can they learn to trust their own hearts and each other?

Review:

Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott is the first book in her new The Hills of Texas series.

When Holly comes back to La Colina, she brings the weight of the past with her, and the secrets she kept for her best friend.  But she promised her best friend that she’d look out for her daughter, so Holly bites the bullet and tries to mend a few bridges with Cash.

Cash is the sheriff of La Colina, a widower and a parent of a little girl.  He doesn’t trust people too much, as the woman he loved was leaving him for someone else.  So when his dead wife’s best friend comes back wanting to see his daughter, he has a hard time not believing she didn’t know that his wife was planning to run away with her “one love”

We also find out that Holly had a secret crush on Cash in high school. But her Best friend got him first.  Yes we know they will get together, but the journey there was a twist and turn of mistrust and huge secrets, secrets that if found out will destroy both Cash and a little girl.

When the secrets come out, will Cash listen to Holly, or will he turn his back and walk away?  Yes he has to protect himself, but surely there has to be more than Holly is letting on.

I loved reading the Hill family interact (hoping we get a few stories 🙂 with Cash.   Kadie Scott’s ….. SAVING THE SHERIFF is a story of secrets, lies, love and loss.
