ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 28, 2025

The Prez. The soldier. The only man who can save her.

He’s the Prez. A retired Navy Captain. Twice her age.
She’s the sunshine-sweet kindergarten teacher he was never meant to touch.

When Ariel’s desperate text shatters the night, Cap Montgomery charges headfirst into hell. A human trafficking ring has its claws in her, and bullets, blood, and broken bones won’t stop him from dragging her out alive.

She’s all freckles, green eyes, and glass-half-full dreams. He’s scarred, hardened, and haunted by war. But once he’s claimed her, there’s no going back.

••••••

REVIEW:CAP is the first instalment in Savannah Rylan’s contemporary, adult IRON BATTALION MC dark, MC romance series. This is MC president and former US Navy Captain Cap aka Asher Montgomery, and kindergarten teacher Ariel’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers. Although dark in theory, most of the more graphic details are off page or behind the scenes.

Told from three first person perspectives (Cap, Ariel, Wrecker) CAP follows in the aftermath of the abduction of our story line couple. A human trafficking ring disguised as a relief organization is setting up shop in Iron Battalion MC territory, and our couple find themselves imprisoned with several other people who have fallen victim. With his Navy SEAL training, Cap begins to ferret out an escape plan with the hope that the Iron Battalion MC isn’t too far behind.

The world building focuses on Cap and Ariel’s plan for freedom, along with the other captives, some of whom are not in great shape. Reading more like a military journal of events and protocol, CAP follows the search and rescue of our couple, as Wrecker ,and Ariel’s sister Amanda begin to work from the inside.

The relationship between Ariel and Cap is one of friends to lovers that continues to blossom while in captivity and on the run. Cap is determined to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, often placing himself in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are apparently all military grained. We are introduced to Ariel’s sister Amanda, Wrecker, Doc, Ghost, Scout, and Ranger. The requisite evil has many faces but no names or apparent identities

CAP is a story of power and control, suspense and intrigue, family and friendships, relationships and love The fast paced premise is riveting and thought provoking although reads like a military how to; the romance is subtle and fated; the characters are desperate and determined.

The night I finally manage to say ‘hi’ to him, the gas station is robbed, and my tall dark stranger saves my life before disappearing. A few days later, I’m offered a job as a housekeeper for a wealthy recluse. It pays more money than I’ve ever hoped to make in my lifetime, so I accept. I miss my handsome stranger, though.

She makes due working at the gas station because its mostly regulars. That is until a definite stranger in town walks in. Jenna hides beneath her bangs and doesn’t eant to make eye contact. But she can’t help it. That’s when Enzo notices her blue and green eyes. He is taken by her appearance and can sense pretty quickly that she is suffering from some kind of trauma.

This book started off quickly and didn’t slow down! I wanted nothing more than Jenna to just fall for Enzo but she is dealing with a great deal of her own trauma. Can Enzo convince Jenna how much he cares about her and will Jenna ever let him in?

REVIEW:

10 short stories (one by a favourite author of mine)

So…. Let’s start with ….

One Good Wager Leads to Another by Barbara Monajem

Thisbe Rose moves into the haunted cottage she inherited. She’s not afraid of ghosts, smugglers, and highwaymen—but she’s not so sure about the oddest housekeeper she’s ever seen.

Gervaise Transom wagers a friend he can spend months disguised as a housekeeper without being caught. When Thisbe moves into the haunted cottage, he should leave, to protect her reputation—but he also must stay, to keep her safe.

••••••

REVIEW: “One Good Wager Leads to Another” by Barbara Monajem is a delightful romp filled with whimsical charm and intrigue. The story follows Thisbe Rose, a brave and spirited woman who moves into a cottage with a mysterious past, not quite prepared for the quirky challenges that come her way. With supernatural elements and the threat of dubious characters lurking about, Thisbe’s fears are mostly focused on the peculiar housekeeper who seems to have more secrets than the cottage itself.

Gervaise Transom, the housekeeper, adds a unique twist with his bold wager to remain undetected in disguise for months. His true intentions, however, shift when he finds himself drawn to Thisbe, leading to an engaging push and pull between duty, safety, and burgeoning romance.

The author weaves humor and heart into the story, balancing high stakes with lighthearted moments. The chemistry between Thisbe and Gervaise is slow to start, and their dialogue sparkles with wit. We find themselves immersed in a world where love and adventure intertwine, all cloaked in an air of mystery.

Overall, “One Good Wager Leads to Another” is a fun and enchanting read that invites you to embrace the unexpected, whether it be in haunting cottages or matters of the heart. Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries and romantic escapades!

Attending the Normanton House party, each hopes for happiness. Only her wretched family gets in the way again, as does the local highwayman, and it seems their secret love is perpetually doomed…

••••••

REVIEW: In “My Gift to You,” Mary Lancaster weaves a captivating tale of love, family expectations, and societal judgments.

The young Marchioness of Corey, trapped in a life of scandal and rumors, becomes the center of a story that is both heartwarming and fraught with tension.

The premise revolves around the widely held belief that her marriage to the Marquis is a mere transaction driven by wealth, a notion that the Marquis (Leopold) himself seems to accept.

As the duo attends the lavish Normanton House party, the story deepens. The author explores their relationship, revealing layers of emotion and desire that challenge initial perceptions. The tension escalates with the introduction of a local highwayman and the relentless interference of the Marchioness’s dysfunctional family, adding both intrigue and conflict.

The author’s writing is both engaging and tender, drawing us into the struggles faced by the characters. The blend of romance and societal critique keeps the story flowing, while the pacing builds anticipation for a happy ending.

Overall, “My Gift to You” is a delightful read that examines the true nature of love in a world quick to judge. The characters are relatable, and their journey is both poignant and entertaining, promising a satisfying escape into a historical romance filled with unexpected twists.

Charred Hope by Carolyn Warfield

Major Titus Brannock believes the charred painting that fell into his hands must be valuable to its owner.

When he finds her, he finds a true treasure. Tessa Fleming’s first instinct was to burn the miniature her late husband scorned, but the admiration she sees in Titus’s eyes gives her different ideas.

Perhaps the little gem will give them both a pearl beyond price.

•••••••

The story introduces Major Titus Brannock, who stumbles upon a charred painting that he believes holds hidden value. His journey to return the painting to its rightful owner leads him to Tessa Fleming, a widow grappling with her own grief and insecurities.

(Maybe it’s not as bad as her husband made out?) and their blossoming romance is rooted in mutual respect and a shared journey toward acceptance and healing.

Within hours, Sarah is dead. The strange twins who run the Brake Inn Motel inform the surviving guests that her murder demands justice. The guests are given an ultimatum: uncover the killer by midnight—or die when the protective lights around the motel go out.

Because something very old and very dangerous lurks in this corner of the desert. And it’s hungry.

But nothing at the Brake Inn Motel is quite as it seems. As time ticks away, alliances fracture, secrets unravel, and the guests will not only have to confront the violence of the past—they will need to face the darkness within themselves.

••••••

REVIEW: THE MIDNIGHT KNOCK by John Fram is a contemporary, adult, supernatural, psychological thriller focusing on the guests and the strange events in and around the Brake-Inn Motel, an apparently deserted motel, in a nowhere town, on a remote west Texas desert.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives THE MIDNIGHT KNOCK follows in the wake of several strangers who arrive within minutes of one another at the west Texas Brake-Inn Motel. Everyone is running from something or someone: everyone has a dark and dangerous secret, and in the end, everyone will discover they are all connected by a woman who is the first to die.

THE MIDNIGHT KNOCK is a genre blending, mind bending story of science-fiction, the supernatural, mystery, murder, mythology and folklore. Caught in an historical time loop, condemned to repeat the same twenty-four hours, the diverse and ill-fated cast of characters find themselves facing the destructive and powerful nature of the unknown until a small fracture in the loop gives way to buried memories from the past and the present.

THE MIDNIGHT KNOCK is a slow building, supernatural story of science fiction, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, destiny and fate. The premise is multi-layered, complex, reflective, edgy, and is often repetitive  (with new information) due to the continuous time loop. The unreliable narrator(s) pulls the reader into a world of ambiguities, lies and deception as each character will experience and examine the world around them, a world that changes a little bit at a time.

Falling for Eli wasn’t in Amy’s plans. But when fantasy collides with reality, she has to ask herself: can a relationship that started online survive the messy truth when it finally becomes real? Or is it safer to keep hiding behind the perfect fantasy?

The world building follows the weeks and months, back and forth between Amy and Elijah/Jake. Jake is desperate to be normal, wants to be loved for the person not the star, and in this, Amy is struggling with feelings of inadequacy, enhanced by the social media slurs, paparazzi, and a few well placed comments and motions from the people in Jake’s life.

The relationship between Jake and Amy begins online, with great banter and fun but the fun is about to end when Amy discovers everything she thought she knew about Elijah was a life. The back and forth building relationship is about to become a reality but in this the betrayal and lies are enough to push Amy out of his life. Things will go from bad to worse when a reconciliation is targeted by the people in Jake’s life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the to, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Jake’s best friend and struggling fellow actor Will Winters, and Amy’s best friend Maya. I am hoping the author has future plans for Will.

FANGIRL is a story of secrets and lies, friendships and relationships, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is inviting and imaginative; the romance is tender, sensitive and impassioned; the characters are sassy, lively and compelling.

They took her from me.
They did not know the monster they unleashed.

Now, I’ll go to war for her.
I will tear our families apart and I will deliver her enemies to her in pieces.

REVIEW: THE PAWN is the second instalment in Natasha Knight’s contemporary, adult WAR OF HEARTS dark, erotic, Mafia romance duet focusing on twenty year old, Mafia princess Allegra Moretti, and thirty year old Cassian Trevino. THE PAWN should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one THE VILLAIN. If you have not read THE VILLAIN, there may be spoilers in my review.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE numerous TRIGGERS for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cassian and Allegra) THE PAWN focuses on the search and rescue of our story line heroine who found herself at the mercy of someone she once trusted. A pawn and a prisoner, Allegra discovers the truth about her past, her family and the possible future for a woman who is now caught between family and love. Cassian Trevino is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love but at every turn betrayal, treason and a fight for power become the precipitating factors in a war for control.

The world building continues to follow the tempestuous and caustic relationship between our story line couple as Cassian fights for control of his future. Betrayal from all sides including the people he trusts, pushes Cassian to become guardian and protector wherein he struggles to keep his promise.

The relationship between Cassian and Allegra caustic and hostile. Cassian is keeping secrets that affect our story line heroine, and Allegra struggles to trust a man who is battling not only his own demons but the demons from our heroine’s past. The $ex scenes are aggressive and provocative with some scenes of voyeurism and exhibition.

Similarly to THE VILLAIN, the cast of secondary and supporting characters is questionable, untrustworthy and problematic. We are reintroduced to Allegra’s troublesome brother Michael, her late father’s power hungry consigliere Malek Lombardi and his daughter Amal, as well as Cassian’s step brothers Severin and Jet Blackstone; Cassian’s right hand man and cousin Enzo, uncle Angelo, and several members of both the Moretti and Trevino crime families. The requisite evil has many faces. I am hoping the author has plans for Cassian’s step brothers.

THE PAWN is a fast paced, character driven story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, greed and double cross, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, dramatic, gritty and edgy; the romance is fiery and heated; the characters are desperate, determined, violent and over the top.

HEED the trigger warnings-there are many and graphic.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 13, 2025

I’ve been watching her for seven months.

Oskar
Every coffee run. Every art class. Every time she steps outside that fortress Emil built.

My brother gave me one job: protect Elfe. The girl who almost died on her kitchen floor because of Los Coyotes. The virgin who paints her nightmares and still flinches when someone moves too fast.

She doesn’t know I exist. Doesn’t know I’m the one who’s been annihilating every threat before they reach her. Doesn’t know I’ve already taken care of the men who got too close.

I should keep it that way. She’s innocent. Fragile. Everything the son of Fenrir shouldn’t want.

But when Los Coyotes take her father—when they demand her in exchange—everything changes.

She thinks she needs to sacrifice herself. Thinks she’s still that broken girl who barely survived their first message.

She has no idea she’s been mine since the moment I saw her blood stained on the kitchen floor. No idea that I’ve been at war with myself every single day since.

Now Los Coyotes are about to learn why the Raiders of Valhalla call me their Executioner.

Because good girls might not fall for monsters, but this monster will paint the streets red to keep his girl breathing.

REVIEW: MISERY is the seventh instalment in Elizabeth Knox’s contemporary, adult RAIDERS OF VALHALLA MC: NEW BLOOD dark, erotic, MC romance series. This is thirty-one year old, MC member Oskar, son of VP Fenrir, and twenty-three year old Elfe’s, daughter of Road Captain Ivar, story line. MISERY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading SACRIFICE number six for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Oskar and Elfe) MISERY follows in the wake of an attack, seven months earlier, against our story line heroine. Like Oskar, Elfe is a second generation member, a club princess who is struggling since an attack that left her feeling vulnerable and lost but Elfe is unaware of the darkness that continues to focus on our heroine, or the man who has declared himself guardian and protector of the woman with whom he is falling in love. As the threats against Elfe become more personal, Oskar makes it his mission to destroy anyone taking aim at our story line heroine; and Elfe will confront her family focusing on the spiralling family dynamics.

The world building continues to focus on the threats aimed at the Raiders of Valhalla MC by the group known as Los Coyotes. An obsession and personal vendetta are targeting our story line couple but the people closest to Elfe will pay the price.

The relationship between Elfe and Oskar begins as a ‘secret assignment’ when Oskar is tasked with protecting the woman with whom he will fall in love. Elfe is struggling in the weeks and months following the attack, and often feels threatened by the people around her. Oskar never thought he would fall in love with our story line heroine but seven months of watching and protecting pull Oskar towards the woman that calls to his heart. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and determined secondary and supporting characters including several generational members of the Raiders of Valhalla MC including Elfe’s parents Ivar and Starla, and her sister Helle; Oskar’s parents Fenrir and Charm; and a ghost from the past that refuses to stay down.

MISERY is a story of betrayal and vengeance, obsession and madness, power and control, dysfunctional family dynamics and heart break, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise is dramatic, dark and edgy; the romance is limited ; the characters are desperate, charismatic and dynamic.
