REVIEW: DANGEROUSLY OURS is the third and final instalment in the contemporary, adult WEBS WE WEAVE erotic, romance series co-authored by Krista and Becca Ritchie. DANGEROUSLY OURS focuses on twenty-four year old Phoebe Graves, her best friend Hailey Tinrock, and twenty-seven year old, Brayden ‘Rocky’ Tinrock. DANGEROUSLY OURS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the cliff hanger of book two DESTRUCTIVELY MINE
SOME BACKGROUND: The Graves and the Tinrocks are a family of grifters, several generations of con men, women and children but Hailey Tinrock claims she wants a new start following a con that went wrong, taking her brothers Rocky and Trevor, and her best friend Phoebe, and Phoebe’s siblings Nova and Oliver along for the ride but Rocky is unaware of what happened or why, and their pasts are about to land in Victoria Connecticut demanding reparations for secrets and lies.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from four first person perspectives (Phoebe, Rocky, Hailey, Jake) DANGEROUSLY OURS is the culmination of three instalments in which the ultimate con is played out in full view of the town of Victoria, Connecticut. As the foursome discover the reality and history of their circumstance, the betrayal and spiral of the previous generation catch up, as Phoebe, Rocky , Hailey and Jake set into motion a plan of attack that will result in the freedom to choose, to live their lives without the ongoing secrets and lies that have followed wherever they go.
The world building is detailed, complex and engaging as the secrets are revealed, and the lies begin to paint a much larger picture than anyone could have ever imagined. Not everyone is who they claim to be; the past refuses to let go; and Hailey, Rocky and Phoebe keep a secret that threatens a life long friendship, and a potential for a happily ever after for everyone involved.
The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and dynamic including the return of Nova and Oliver Graves, Trevor and Hailey Tinrock, Jake Waterford, Addison and Everett Tinrock, and Elizabeth Graves; Jake’s brother Trent, and Varrick Wolfe.
DANGEROUSLY OURS is a slow building story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, greed and jealousy, dysfunctional family dynamics, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic, edgy and dark; the limited romances are fated and impassioned; the characters are desperate, determined, broken and dynamic.
