ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 3, 2025

Every bride dreams of her wedding day.Today was supposed to be that day for me, except it’s not me marrying my college sweetheart.

My best friend is doing that. Or, well, my ex–best friend. Instead, I’m over a thousand miles away, riding the subway in a city where lost people come to dream. Me—I’m just hoping to distract myself from my heartbreak. That is, until I met Jake Worthing. Grumpy. Hot. A total jerk. Did I mention hot?

Also, extremely presumptuous. Just because I look like I’m a thought away from a total meltdown does not mean I need an ambulance. He had the audacity to ask if I needed medical treatment. Well, good riddance to him. I don’t ever have to see him again. Except, well, I do when I’m taken to the police station for a total misunderstanding.

He walks in and…gah. He’s the same that I remember from our first meeting. Brooding. Still gorgeous. (The universe is not fair sometimes.) He’s stirring up emotions that I didn’t know were still inside of me. Then someone tries to shoot him and I’m a witness, and…er, how is it that I’m the one being kidnapped?

And by Jake? Now I’m heated for a whole different reason. If I get myself out of this captive situation, I’m going to reign down my own destruction starting with Jake Worthing.

I just have to survive first and, also, not get my heart broken. Again.

REVIEW:A CAPTIVE SITUATION is the third instalment in Tijan’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF NEW YORK dark, erotic, organized crime series. This is former NY police officer Jake Worthing, and Sawyer Matsen’s story line. A CAPTIVE SITUATION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jake and Sawyer) A CAPTIVE SITUATION follows in the wake of a murder on the streets of New York. Sawyer Matsen has bared the brunt of a personal betrayal, and set off for New York to meet the cousin she never knew. With her mother estranged from her aunts, Sawyer is at a loss as to the who, how and why but within hours of her arrival, our heroine will witness a murder, and become the hostage of a former NY police officer, a man with connection to organized crime.

From the outset, A CAPTIVE SITUATION is a detailed, complex and edgy story of the power of betrayal, dysfunctional family dynamics, and the intense attraction that can not be denied. Jake Worthing has worked tirelessly to destroy the people who killed his brother but in doing so shattered the trust of both the police department and the family he so desperately tried to escape. With Sawyer at his side, both as a captive and a willing participant, Jake finds himself on the outside looking in when a bounty for his head also targets our story line heroine.

The relationship between Sawyer and Jake begins acrimoniously upon Sawyer’s arrival in NYC. Our heroine is lost; floundering in the wake of betrayal, desperate to find the family she has never known but a chance run in with Jake Worthing sets Sawyer on a different path, a path towards murder and mayhem, shattering all preconceived notions about her life going forward. The $ex scenes are erotic and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful , questionable and interesting secondary and supporting characters including several members of law enforcement, organized crime, and Sawyer’s large and quirky extended family.

A CAPTIVE SITUATION is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, mistrust and misunderstanding, dysfunctional family values and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic and impassioned; the romance is sensual and consuming; the characters are determined, stubborn and vibrant.
