I fell in love with a billionaire.I just didn’t know it.Jean-Michel Dubois is the owner of the professional hockey team, the Oakland Eagles, and established the world-renowned Oak Ridge Vineyards.
And…he’s fallen for me.Me. The boring woman who spends her time studying, baking cookies, and nannying for an adorable little girl. A relationship between us makes no sense—I’ve tried to make him see that.
But he’s a successful businessman for a reason. He’s ruthless and goes after what he wants. And he’s decided…That’s me.

REVIEW: BOTTLES AND BLADES is the first full length instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary, adult EAGLES HOCKEY; OAK RIDGE VINEYARD erotic, romance series- a spin off from the author’s EAGLES HOCKEY. This is Oakland Eagles team owner and Oak Ridge Vineyards owner Jean-Michel Dubois, and nanny Tiffany ‘Tiff’ Hernandez’ story line. BOTTLES AND BLADES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jean-Michel and Tiff) BOTTLES AND BLADES follows the building romance and relationship between billionaire businessman and single father Jean-Michel Dubois, and twenty-seven year old nanny Tiff Henderson. A trip to the grocery finds Jean-Michel without his wallet or phone, only to be ‘rescued’ by our story line heroine, a young woman who is barely able to afford herself. Determined to repay Tiff’s act of kindness, Jean-Michel becomes our heroine’s guardian and protector in the face of personal struggles and private battles but Jean-Michel’s past refuses to let go, and Tiff will find herself the target of someone else’s jealousy and greed.
The world building focuses on the dysfunctional family dynamics of both the Dubois and Hernandez families. Tiff battles between head and heart as her own past is constantly used against her; and Jean-Michel’s ex is determined to destroy his life.
The relationship between Tiff and Jean-Michel is one of immediate attraction but Jean-Michel believes he is too old for our story line heroine, a young woman who has struggled most of her life but Jean-Michel is desperate to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, a woman who strives for independence in the face of horrific adversities. The $ex scenes are intimate and impassioned without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and dynamic including the return of Jean-Michel’s daughter Chrissy and Rome (Broken Laces/Eagles Hockey), Chrissy’s best friend Rory; JM’s ex wife Angela, as well as business associates Marie Austen, and Jace Henderson; Tiff’s parents Diego and Roberta Hernandez; and her boss Stefan Barie and Brittany Plantain.
BOTTLES AND BLADES is a story of betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and greed, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is dramatic and edgy; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.
I do have an issue with a number of redundancies in the story line especially as it pertains to ‘nicknames’ and ‘pet names’. Honey was used 34 times: Buttercup was used 104 times, and Baby 90 times- I was starting to believe Jean-Michel forgot our heroine’s name.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 26, 2025
I’m not looking for forever. My gorgeous, billionaire neighbor has decided otherwise. I’ve been burned by enough bad ex-boyfriends to know that love isn’t in the cards for me. I work hard, keep my head down, and avoid all romantic attachments like the plague.
The only trouble? The infuriating man who lives just down the hall doesn’t seem to understand that. Jace Henderson is beautiful, rich, and his veneer of perpetual, carefree bachelor is hiding a soft heart. A possessive heart. Because he’s decided he wants me.
Not just for one night.
But forever.
And the worst part is…the more time I spend with him, the more I think I want forever too

REVIEW: BEAUTY AND THE BOARDROOM is the second instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary, adult EAGLES HOCKEY; OAK RIDGE VINEYARD erotic, romance series, set in the author’s Eagles Hockey world. This is billionaire businessman Jace Henderson, and executive at Titan Capital Marie Austen’s story line. BEAUTY AND THE BOARDROOM can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing premise throughout.
NOTE: Some of the events of BEAUTY AND THE BOARDROOM cross over with and run parallel to some of the events of BOTTLES AND BLADES.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jace and Marie) BEAUTY AND THE BOARDROOM follows the building romance and relationship between billionaire businessman and CEO of Genen-core Jace Henderson, and executive at Titan Capital Marie Austen. Jace’s new neighbor is a feisty woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero but little do they know, they have a mutual interest that is disrupting several business ventures and financial deals, and in this, Marie is about to dive into the proverbial rabbit hole to uncover the truth.
The world building mainly focuses on the back and forth between our story line couple, yet the series conflict is barely addressed. Titan Capital owner Jean-Michel Dubois’s business has been targeted, and the fall-out is affecting Jace Henderson’s medical research at Genen-core.
The relationship between Jace and Marie is one of immediate attraction but begins acrimoniously with the ‘theft’ of a Lyft ride. Jace is determined to uncover the who, what and why of our story line heroine, a woman who doesn’t do relationships due to issues of trust. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are limited. We are reintroduced to billionaire Jean-Michel Dubois, and his daughter Chrissy and her husband Rome (Knotted Laces)/ Eagles Hockey 1) and Athena ‘Attie’ Phillips (Knotted Laces/Eagles Hockey 2) as well as Jace’s best friend Brooks Saxton. Brooks story line is next.
BEAUTY AND THE BOARDROOM is a story of trust and misunderstanding, secrets and lies, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is entertaining and engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic but similarly to book one BOTTLES AND BLADES, the redundancy of certain pet names is distracting. Cookie is mentioned 93 times, once again leading me to believe the hero has forgotten the heroine’s name 😉

USA Today bestselling author, Elise Faber, loves chocolate, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team—the Sharks!—are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. Elise changes her hair color more often than some people change their socks, loves sparkly things, and is the mom to two exuberant boys.
