REVIEW:HADES is the sixth instalment in Cala Riley’s contemporary, adult LOTUC MC erotic, MC romance series. This is ER physician Dr. Evelyn Kingston, and Lotus MC member Jonah ‘Hades’ Hale’s story line. HADES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading BULLETT book five for back story and cohesion. Evelyn is the half-sister of club president Reaper.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hades and Evelyn) HADES focuses on the protection of our story line heroine. Dr. Evelyn Kingston finds herself in a threatening position at the hospital for which she works. With her connections to the Lotus MC, Evelyn has been targeted, and a series of threatening and deadly events finds our heroine under the protection of Jonah ‘Hades’ Hales, and the Lotus MC.

The world building focuses on the threats against the Lotus MC. Someone is targeting both the club and anyone connected, including our story line heroine, and Evelyn finds herself at the mercy of the people with whom she works as the danger has crossed over into patient territory. From dirty law enforcement and even dirtier politicians, the Lotus MC must call in reinforcements, where Hades will confront the past, a past of heart break, loss and sorrow.

The relationship between Hades and Evelyn is acrimonious at best but hides a mutual attraction disguised as contempt and defiance. Hades is determined to claim Evelyn as his own but must first tread carefully in the face of familial relations. As a member of the Lotus MC, Hades has become a target, and Evelyn will be caught in the fall-out, regardless of her ability to save lives. The $ex scenes are provocative and passionate.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of familiar, colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of the member of the Lotus MC Las Vegas, Mayor William Dansforth and his estranged daughter Adalyn. We are introduced to Lotus MC Chicago members Remi, Mav and Rebel, as well as several medical personnel at the local hospital including Dr. Pembrooke, Dr. Travis, and club lawyer Atticus. The requisite evil has many faces.

HADES is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and fallout, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is edgy and gritty; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are desperate, determined and charismatic.
