ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 1. 2025

The Four Realms are experiencing an unprecedented period of peace…

At thirteen years old, it became known Prince Aleksei Knightstar of Night’s Fall was the True Heir. The next king, the fiercest warrior, the mightiest beast in all the realm.

The Fall rejoiced at having the first True Heir in over a century. But Aleksei is private, no nonsense, and worried about why The Fall, in a time of peace, would need a True Heir.

Laura Makepeace is a talented costume designer and everywoman who’s recovering from a recent random and traumatic attack where she lost something vital. She barely has it in her to put on a pretty frock and go drinking with her girlfriends.

She certainly isn’t prepared to be summoned to the True Heir’s table in the VIP section of a club. The prince is not a male easily put off, not to mention, like every other female in the Four Realms, Laura has been crushing on him since she first saw him.

Thus, Laura finds herself suddenly being courted by Prince Aleksei and thrown into a whirl of public and press attention, royal family dysfunction…And a plot that threatens lives and the peace of the Four Realms.

REVIEW: NIGHT’S FALL is the first instalment in Kristen Ashley’s adult THE FOUR REALMS paranormal, fantasy series. This is True Heir Prince Aleksei Knightstar, and thirty year old, costume designer Laura Makepeace’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Laura) and a few third person final chapters NIGHT’S FALL follows the fated relationship between our story line couple. Approximately three months earlier there was an attempt on our heroine’s life and she has been living a quiet life behind the scenes but a night out with friends pulls Laura towards her future when she meets her fated mate in the guise of Prince Aleksei Knightstar, a powerful male whose perceived reputation precedes his introduction to our story line heroine. As Aleksei and Laura struggle to keep their status a secret, there are those who are determined to see it never come to fruition.

The world building follows the search for the truth, and the investigation into a number of assassination attempts against our story line couple. There are Four Realms ( Night’s Fall, Dawn’s Break, Sky’s Edge, Earth ), once at war now at a tentative peace that is threatened by an unknown source. Laura Makepeace is Prince Aleksei’s True Bride, and as such she has been targeted for who she is and her place in Aleksei’s life but all is not well-the dysfunctional family dynamics on both sides of the union threaten their happiness as our couple must deal with a possible war, and the attempts on Laura’s life.

The relationship between Laura and Aleksei is one of fated mates; a match ordained by fate and DNA but a match that is not accepted by all. As Laura and Aleksei begins their courtship, Laura struggles with Aleksei’s anxious need to protect, and his almost bi-polar shift between anger and love. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, magical and supernatural secondary and supporting characters including dragons, demons, fae, trolls and vampires. We are introduced Laura’s friends-half demon Catla Truelock, Fae Gayle Vinestrong, human Monique, as well as Catla’s parents Mr. & Mrs. Trulock; Aleksei’s parents King Fillion and Queen Caly; his siblings Timothee, Errol, and Aleece; bear shifter and Aleksei’s best friend Sirk Parrin; Royal PR specialist Germaine Newleaf, royal protocol instructor Madam Garwah, Laura’s assistant Nata, Aleksie’s assistant Allain, and Laura’s questionable parents Tern and Cetra. The requisite evil has many faces.

NIGHT’S FALL is a complex, detailed and magical story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and obsession, dysfunctional family dynamics, friendships, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is thought provoking, dramatic and intriguing ; the characters are animated and charismatic; the romance is spicy and edgy. NIGHT’S FALL ends on a bit of a cliff hanger -you have been warned.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
