ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 11, 2025
I was the dutiful daughter. Or at least that was what it looked like from the outside.
Deep inside, I was suffocating. I longed for something I didn’t know how or where to find. But I kept my façade firmly in place while I searched for answers.
Until one New Orleans night changed it all.
Nikola Nikolaev—the heir to the Crescent City’s ruthless criminal empire—caught me in a club that was off-limits. And just like that, my carefully constructed world began to crumble.
We never saw it coming. The invisible force between us, the one that had a power far beyond anything we understood, pulling us closer, demanding what we couldn’t give.
But there was more to Nikola than the unhinged, reckless man everyone saw.
I fell. Hard.
He didn’t.
I should’ve walked away. Instead, I was determined to peel back his layers and prove to him he’d met his match.
I, Skye Leone, would rise to become his queen.

REVIEW: NIKOLA is the second instalment in Eva Winners’ contemporary, adult LEGACY OF HEATHENS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s interconnected Mafia worlds -Thorns of Omerta, Belles and Mobsters, Kingpins of the Syndicate. This is twenty-four year old Nikola Nikolaev, and twenty-year old Skye Leone’s story line. NIKOLA can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment or interconnected series is revealed where necessary. Nikola is the son of Isabella and Vasili Nikolaev (The Den of Sin) Skye is the daughter of Phoenix Romero, and Dante Leone (Thorns of Silence /Thorns of Omerta 4), and adoptive daughter of Sasha and Branka Nikolaev (Belles and Monsters 16).
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from five first person perspectives (Nikola, Skye, Dante, Phoenix, Vasili) NIKOLA follows the forbidden romance between is twenty-four year old Nikola Nikolaev, and twenty-year old Skye Leone. Skye, for all intents and purposes, is the adopted cousin of our story line hero but due to a convoluted history of dysfunctional family dynamics and the ultimate betrayal, Skye has been returned to her birth parents (Dante and Phoenix) yet still considers herself a ‘daughter of the heart’ of Sasha and Branka Nikolaev. Regardless of parental heritage, Skye has always lusted after and loved the man she once considered a cousin but the heart wants something it cannot have, and our couple are determined to prove they are worthy of their own happily ever after. Standing in their way, three sets of parents, and someone with a years long vendetta that is determined to destroy them all.
The world building follows in the wake of betrayal and revenge. The past is refusing to let go, and both the Nikolaev and Leone families have been targeted but each by a different predator.
The relationship between Nikola and Skye is one of unrequited love. Skye has been in love with Nikola for as long as she can remember but Nikola refuses to cross the line between friendship and love knowing his life will be forfeit if the truth were revealed. Due to inherit the mantel of his father’s power and control, Nikola struggles with the darkness that comes from within. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and determined secondary and supporting characters from the author’s numerous interconnected Mafia story lines and series. We are reintroduced to Syke’s 2 sets of parents: Dantes and Phoenix, Sasha and Branka, as well as Nikola’s parents Vasili and Isabella. The requisite evil has many faces.
NIKOLA is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is detailed, dramatic and edgy; the characters are desperate and charismatic; the romance is fated and flawed.
