ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 21, 2026

Some men protect you from monsters. Some men are the monster.

I built my career helping powerful men close impossible deals. I never realized I was helping them destroy lives.

Arthur Harrow gave me everything: a future, a career, a second chance. For five years, I trusted him completely.
Then I uncover a pattern buried beneath the deals I helped structure.

Companies destroyed from the inside. Families ruined. Collapses that were engineered, not inevitable. And every analysis that identified the pressure points has my name on it.

I built the scalpel. Someone else did the cutting.

Evan Kincaid is the last man I should trust. He operates in the shadows of Arthur’s world, watching me with an intensity that feels equal parts protection and obsession. The deeper I dig, the more dangerous things become, and the harder it is to resist the man pulling me into the fire.

Then I learn the truth.

Evan has been lying to me from the beginning.

I should walk away. But someone knows I’m digging. The threats are escalating. And the only man dangerous enough to stand between me and what’s coming is the man who betrayed me first.

REVIEW:POWER PLAY is the first instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult EDGE OF CONTROL erotic romantic suspense series. This is corporate/ capital investigator and senior analyst Meaghan Keating and fixer Evan Kincaid’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Meaghan and Evan) POWER PLAY follows Meaghan Keating and Evan Kincaid as they begin a deep dive into the financial workings of corporate financial investors Harrow and Associates. Having been hired by Arthur Harrow five years earlier, Meaghan begins to suspect there is more to the man and his business acumen than she could have ever imagined but she never expected to work side by side with analyst and fixer Evan Kincaid, a man with deep connections to the world of corporate espionage.
The world building follows several pathways focusing on the imbalance of power as our couple battle between head and heart in an effort to expose the people at the top. Investment and financial methodology and terminology blend with anxious moments and issues of trust. Working behind the scenes to reveal the truth, Meaghan and Evan invoke a spiral of disaster, threatening the man who mentored our story line heroine.

The relationship between Meaghan and Evan begins as co-conspirators, of a sort, as they embark on an investigation to that will divulge the dealings and machinations of a firm intent on controlling them all. As our couple circle around one another, Meaghan sees betrayal, and the hurt, threatens any sense of a future with our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters are animated and determined. We are introduced to Sophia Oleander, co-worker Laura Anderson, Meaghan’s boss Arthur Harrow. Behind the phone calls and internet deep dives, we ‘hear’ Priest and forensic accountant Luke McDermott.

POWER PLAY is a thought provoking story of betrayal and trust, power and control, friendships and relationships, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is both a dramatic and edgy contemplation and introspection; the characters are desperate, charismatic and energetic; the romance is spicy, and seductive

If steamy alpha males, curvy heroines, and just the right amount of paranormal growl are your thing—meet your new favorite author: Delta James.

A USA Today bestselling queen of romantic suspense and paranormal heat, Delta writes fast-paced, heart-racing, panty-melting stories featuring strong women, dominant men, and more than a few fated mates. Whether it’s shifters howling in the wild or billionaires brooding in boardrooms, her books always bring the spice.

Delta didn’t grow up dreaming of writing romance. In fact, she launched her author career in 2018 after deciding her second act in life needed more passion… and possibly more bite. Since then? She’s published dozens of books across series like Wayward Mates, Otter Cove Shifters, Club Southside, Tangled Vines, and Mystic River Shifters—each one a decadent dive into danger, desire, and often, some well-placed discipline.

She lives in Florida with her pack of loyal basset hounds (aka editors with long ears and zero chill), and when she’s not writing steamy scenes or plotting revenge for her latest heroine, she’s probably riding horses, walking the beach, or white-water rafting—because why not?
