Told from dual first person perspectives (Evangeline and Dante) HIS WICKED SPELL follows Dante Vescari as he is determined to protect pharmacist Evangeline Hart. The Scarletta Crime family is disputing the Vescari territory, territory that includes the family owned Hart Pharmacy but more importantly, the Head of the Scarletta family is targeting our story line heroine, and Dante Vescari is determined to claim Evangeline as his own. HIS WICKED SPELL is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, obsession and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and intriguing but predictable. There is some ‘choppiness’ to flow of the story, some fine-tooth editing may be necessary; the romance is limited, focusing on their busy $ex life; the characters are determined and desperate.

REVIEW: As a park of the 31 Days of Trick or Treat: Biker & Mobster series, The Reaper’s Vow can be read as a standalone by Avelyn Paige. This is a shifter, monster romance with darkish themes, but no major trigger warnings.

Katrina’s family has kept a secret from her her entire life, but that secret comes to light at the worst possible time. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time lands Katrina witnessing something that will change her life forever and delivers her right into the arms of Damien. Damien is known as the Reaper for a reason, his life is violent and blood soaked, as the enforcer for the Bellandi Family he has done terrible things, but nothing has ever had him questioning his job. Until Katrina. She’s a witness and a liability, one could cause chaos to his world, but something about her is causing him to pause his orders. Something more.

Entire the world of shifters and wolves, to mafia families and suspense, Avelyn Paige has done it again. The Reaper’s vow was a fast paced, intense read that was filled with drama and intrigue. While the book was fast paced, I wish there was a little more to the characters, it felt like they were almost unfinished towards the end. Damien and Katrina had loads of chemistry and really made the storyline full, but something just felt like it was missing. Interested to see what else will be a part of these 31 days things.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and sometimes questionable. We are introduced to Sophia’s father Hector Chavez, her brother Antonio, and her best friend Maria; Raphael’s brother Gabriel, and their father.

GRAVEYARD PROMISES is a quick read; a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and honor, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is edgy and dramatic; the romance is limited; the characters are desperate and determined. GRAVEYARD PROMISES ends on a HEA for now, there story line conflict has yet to be resolved.
