REVIEW:AN INFINITE LOVE STORY by Chanel Cleeton is an adult, fictionalized historical account of journalist Vivian Mitchell, and her astronaut husband Joe, the commander of the 1968 Saturn V Rocket, and a possible cover up of the doomed lunar orbit mission.
NOTE: AN INFINITE LOVE STORY is a story of fiction- in reality, NASA launched 13 Saturn V missions, the Saturn V Rockets carried 24 astronauts to the moon without the loss of a single crew member.
Told from omniscient first person perspective (Vivian), covering 1961 to 1968, AN INFINITE LOVE STORY focuses on journalist Vivian Mitchell, as she navigates the 1960s, the space race, the Cuban missile crisis, love and loss. Meeting US Air Force fighter pilot Joe Mitchell gave Vivian pause but at the time Vivian set her sights on someone else. Months would pass, Vivian, once again, found herself in the company of the man with whom she would fall in love, and life would never be the same. As the space race intensifies in 1968, Joe Mitchell is selected as the commander of the Saturn V Rocket but within days after lift off, the spacecraft goes missing, and everyone aboard are presumed dead and gone. Vivian Mitchell refuses to accept the inevitable, and goes in search of the impossible.
The world building focuses on the life of the women left behind as their fighter pilot and ‘astronaut’ husbands are called towards bigger and better things. The reader is pulled into the fear and hopes of one woman who has loved and lost, a woman who is waiting for her husband’s return.
With elements of Apollo 13™ the movie, and 2001: A Space Odyssey ™, AN INFINITE LOVE STORY is a story of love and loss, expectations and failures, hope and courage with a very slight paranormal blush. The premise is a tale of contemplation, reflection and introspective thoughts-a dramatic and emotional look at possibilities. The characters are determined and real.
