REVIEW: BREATHLESS is the third instalment in KE Osborn’s contemporary, adult LAS VEGAS DEFIANCE MC erotic, MC romance series, set in the author’s interconnected Defiance MC world. This is twenty-one year old, Club prospect Will, and baker / PA Amelia ‘Millie’ McClane’s story line. BREATHLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from several first person perspectives including Millie and Will BREATHLESS focuses on the few weeks prior to Will’s patching-in ceremony but a phone call from Millie reporting unknown people checking out her father’s property, finds Will and the Las Vegas Defiance MC guardian and protector of our story line heroine. Millie’s father Jonas is keeping secrets, secrets meant to protect our story line heroine but the fall-out is about to target Las Vegas Defiance MC prospect Will, the man with whom Millie had fallen in love. As the Defiance dig deeper to uncover the truth, Millie and her father Jonas, has another secret that will break everyone’s heart.
The world building focuses on the search for the truth. Millie and her father have been targeted, and in doing so, affect the Defiance MC’s bottom line. The Hidden Hand Alliance, a criminal underworld organization is threatening everything Millie loves, and in doing so, the Defiance devise a plan that will take down everyone involved.
The relationship between Millie and Will has been slow to develop. Will has been waiting for close to two years, until the time he becomes a fully patched member of the Las Vegas Defiance MC, but his heart is hoping Millie feels the same way, as Will has kept his distance, silently watching from afar. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and charismatic secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to several members of the Las Vegas Defiance MC: club president Sin and Elizabeth: VP Nitro and Marley; tech genius /secretary Ghost and Sage, SAA Koa, Mace, Will’s father Bear, and his son, Road Captain Deek, Ro: law enforcement Chief Detective Maria Moretti, as well as Nitro’s grandmother Queenie, and Millie’s father Jonas McClane.
BREATHLESS is a story of secrets and lies; betrayal and vengeance, greed and determination, heartbreak and love. The character driven premise is emotional, edgy and dramatic; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are desperate and determined. BREATHLESS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
