ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February , 2026
A buried crush. A badly timed confession.
Iris Howard thought her feelings for Maximilian Williamson were a thing of the past. Working for him forced her to let go of the crush she once had—and she did. Mostly. But now that Max is no longer her boss, she’s dipping a toe back into dating… and realizing just how complicated it can be in her thirties.
Max never saw what was right in front of him—until Iris started moving on. Watching her with other men is unbearable, and playing the part of a supportive friend is wearing thin. He knows what he wants now… and he’s ready to fight for it.
When a once-in-a-lifetime job offer lands in Iris’s lap, everything is thrown into question. Just as Max finally makes his move, Iris is faced with a choice that could change everything.

REVIEW: MR. ALWAYS is the fourth instalment in Cala Riley’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF BOSTON erotic, romance series. This is CEO Maximillian ‘Max’ Williamson of The Williamson Group, and thirty-three year old, CFO Iris Howard’s story line. MR. ALWAYS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Iris and Max) MR. ALWAYS follows the best friends to lovers relationship between is CEO Maximillian ‘Max’ Williamson of The Williamson Group, and thirty-three year old, CFO Iris Howard. Iris has been working for The Williamson Group for close to ten years, having worked her way into the position of CFO but Iris fell in love with her boss and best friend Max Williamson, and is struggling in both her professional and personal life. Max has refused to cross the line between friendships and love but in doing so, has pushed Iris Howard to look elsewhere. In an effort to move on, Iris considers a move across the ocean, as Max make plans for their future together but Max is always one-step behind, and struggles to admit his feelings for the woman he loves.
The world building follows the back and forth, palpable sexual attraction between our story line couple but neither one is willing to admit the truth, and in the end, it may be too late for something more. Max is determined to claim Iris as his own but our hero is keeping secrets that threaten any chance at a happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate but limited.
The Secondary and supporting characters are familiar, energetic and fun. We are reintroduced to Max’s brother Mason and Olivia, Chloe and Brantley, Adrianna and Eli, as well as Iris’ new friend Clint, and Max’s PA Chad.
MR. ALWAYS is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, friendships, and love. The character driven premise is captivating and entertaining; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.
