REVIEW:CHASING LOVE is the second instalment in Kat Mizera’s contemporary, adult PUCKS AND PENALTIES erotic, hockey romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s LA Phantoms series. This is twenty-eight year old, Atlanta Thunder, team Captain West McGregor, and former teen television star/ single mother / chef Serena Everhart’s story line. CHASING LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (West and Serena) CHASING LOVE follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. A freak Atlanta ice storm forces West McGregor and Serena Everhart together, three days without electricity or heat, and in the ensuing time, our couple will grow closer together but Serena’s ex, the man who fathered her child is one of hockey’s most hated players, and our heroine is about to come face to face with her past, who is demanding everything and more. West is struggling with his attraction to our story line heroine but in the wake of threats by a ghost from her past, West will become guardian and protector of the woman with whom he is falling in love but several misunderstandings threaten any possibility of a future, when West struggles to listen to the truth.

The world building follows several intersecting paths as West’s hockey career brings new friends and new family into our heroine’s life but the past refuses to let go, and threatens any chance of happiness for our story line couple.

The relationship between West and Serena begins as a forced proximity in the wake of an ice storm in Atlanta Georgia. Stranded together without hydro or heat, our couple make the best of their situation, growing closer as the ice begins to melt. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of West’s Atlanta Thunder teammates: Bodi Michener and Jayne Morrison (Penalty Kiss), Vik Maslak, Ashton Knight, Blaze Villaverde, Felix, Coach Teller and his husband Viggo; Serena’s ex Anthony ‘Tony’ DeMarco, Serena’s son Joey, and her friend Holly, as well as several characters from the author’s LA Phantoms series.

CHASING LOVE is a story of secrets, perceived betrayal, misunderstanding and miscommunication, forgiveness and love. The fast paced, character driven story is captivating and edgy; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are charismatic, protective and determined.
