REVIEW:The next installment in the Off the Books series by Kay Cove is here. Gray Area is the third book in the series and what a book it is. There is a little bit of everything in this book, from love and loss, to starting over again, to surprise baby to starting all over again. I was prepared to like this book, because frankly I really enjoy the author, but I wasn’t expecting to get as emotional about it as I did. It was that good!

Celeste is a woman who has worked her tushie off for the things that she has, but that has come at a cost. After finalizing a messy end to her marriage, Celeste finds herself a surprise guardian to her late best-friend (a best friend she hasn’t seen in forever) unborn baby. Weird right? But Celeste takes it all in stride, this could be her last chance to have the baby her ex always denied her. But before all that she has to get through the funeral, so she does the only thing she can think of. She hires an escort. Enter Saylor, the much younger cinnamon roll who seems to find her completely perfect. Together, these two start a journey that will change each other’s lives, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t test them at times. Saylor has his own baggage, and Celeste, well lets just say age isn’t always just a number.

I LOVE Saylor! The man is a giant, supportive, energetic teddy bear that we all need in our own lives. He loves to love, he is so kind and caring and sees Celeste for who she is rather than her fame and money. He had me smiling and happy for so much of this book, well up until I was crying into my Oreo’s for how sad he then made me. It was a roller coaster, let me tell you. Celeste is a girls girls, she is strong and fierce, but also kinda lonely. With Saylor and the new baby she starts to think that starting new may not be such a bad thing after all. But can she let him into her heart? Does she really want to be a new Mom at her age? Does Saylor really want her? Read and find out fellow readers!

REVIEW: KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 is the third instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary adult GRIZZLIES HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series, a spin off from the author’s EAGLES HOCKEY/ OAKRDIGE VINEYARDS series.This is Grizzlies’ hockey player Leo Richardson, and caterer/ chef Harper’s story line. KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Harper and Leo) KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 follows in the wake of a one-night stand in which Leo ghosted our story line heroine. Fast forward several weeks, caterer and friends with many of the Grizzlies’ WAGS, Harper discovers she’s pregnant, and Leo has apparently moved on with someone else. Struggling yet accepting she will be a single parent, Harper comes face to face with the man with whom she will fall in love. Leo Richardson doesn’t do relationships having witnessed the implosion of his parents’ numerous affairs but finding out Harper was carrying his child, Leo struggles with the new direction in life, and can’t quite move on from his current FIB.

The world building follows Harper, a doggedly independent young woman determined to make it on her own. With no promises for the future, Harper begins to accept her new future but Leo claims he wants to do what’s right. Neither grew up with loving fathers, and Leo worries about passing it on.

The relationship between Leo and Harper begins as a one-night stand but a surprise pregnancy throws both of their worlds into a spiral. Harper wants to prove she can raise the baby on her own but the Grizzlies wives and girlfriends pull our heroine into their tight-knit family. Leo soon realizes he has fallen in love with our story line heroine but misunderstanding and miscommunication quickly pull our couple apart. The $ex scenes are provocative and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of familiar and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including several members of the San Jose Grizzlies hockey team and their spouses. We are introduced to Sawyer Hill, Faye’s (Divorced from number 38) friend Lainey, and Leo’s obnoxious parents Bill and Jennifer Richardson.

KNOCKED UP BY NUMBER 90 is a story of secrets and heart break, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.

This is interim CEO of Blackguard Holdings Ronan Black, and Delaney ‘Laney’ Fisher’s story line. MORALLY BLACK ELOPEMENT can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ronan and Laney) MORALLY BLACK ELOPEMENT follows a bachelorette party in Las Vegas wherein Laney wakes up married to the interim CEO of Blackguard Holdings Ronan Black but all is not as it appears to be-like his brother Brendon who walked away from the family business, Ronan needs a suitable wife, and Laney finds herself facing down a family of vipers, losing herself and everything in the process.

The world building is Mafia adjacent, focusing on the building relationship that is predicated upon a secret and a lie. Ronan does not want control of Blackguard Holdings but when his brother Brendon walked away, Ronan became heir by default when the next in line, refused to take control. Meanwhile, Laney is struggle with her family owned business, and a health issue of which she can no longer afford but the Black family are determined to destroy anyone they see as not good enough, and Laney finds herself in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Laney and Ronan begins as drunk Vegas wedding in which neither one remembers what happened or how. Ronan is determined to remain married to our story line heroine, and in doing so, forces his family to take aim at our story line couple but when secrets are revealed, Laney discovers the life into which she agreed is nothing like the life Ronan had offered. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

Ronan’s siblings Brendon and his wife Simone, Owen and Shae; their controlling and manipulative father Naill Black; friend Liam Kelly; driver and security former US Navy SEAL Brady ‘Mac’ MacNamara, as well as the introduction of Laney’s father Jan Fisher, and her friend Megan.
