REVIEW: OF LIES AND SHADOWS is the third instalment in R.G. Angle’s contemporary, adult CORRUPTED DYNASTIES dark,erotic, Mafia romance series.This is single father Dante Forzi, and Francesca Mori’s story line. OF LIES AND SHADOWS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Dante and Francesca) OF LIES AND SHADOWS follows in the wake of betrayal and punishment for our story line couple. Francesca Mori is a pawn in her father’s need for power,and hired as Dante Forzi’s nanny in the wake of the wife’s death, finds our heroine facing the possibility of death if her secret is revealed. Dante needs a nanny for his five year old twins but never thought he would become one of the many statistics falling for the nanny, a woman who claims to be someone else. Determined to destroy the woman with whom he was falling in love. Dante begins a slow dance of humiliation and violation in the hopes of breaking a woman who is already broken but all is not as it appears to be, and Dante finds himself facing the ultimate betrayal, a possible traitor who is targeting the people Dante has grown to love.
The world building focuses on Francesca’s spiral in the face of degradation and shame. From the proverbial frying pan into the fire, our heroine begins to withdraw into a shell that Dante no longer recognizes. Emotionally and mentally exhausted from years of abuse, our heroine faces a lifetime without love, friendship or heart.
The relationship between Dante and Francesca begins as employee and employer but quickly turns into a forced marriage of convenience. Dante is determined to break and crush the soul of our story line heroine, and in doing so, Francesca begins to disengage in both body and spirit.As the relationship slowly begins to heal, someone else is taking aim at our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of questionable, colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Francesca’s friend and bodyguard Bruno, and her father Giani Mori; Dante’s aunt Teresa, his children Alessio and Lucia; Don Salvatore, and Dante’s men Vito and Fulvio. The requisite evil has many faces.
OF LIES AND SHADOWS is a heart breaking story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, humiliation and heart break, forgiveness and love. The premise is dark, dramatic and sensational; the romance is edgy and emotional; the characters are broken, determined and struggling to heal.
