Everyone talks about finding the one that makes their heart skip a beat. Personally, I’m not looking to develop any heart problems. I definitely don’t have to worry about developing any when it comes to the one man who knows how to get on my every nerve.

Odin Mayer is the most offensive, black-hearted, no-good, very-bad, surliest man I’d ever met. He was Grumpy with a capital G, a biker to boot, and never missed a chance to make me see red.

Just as I’m convinced there’s no good side to Odin, he shows me differently, saving me when I didn’t ask him to.

And, of course, I have to spend the next few weeks with him after we both get chosen for the same trial to perform our civic duty. Jury duty was not on my Bingo card. Nor was falling for the jerkoff.

But there I was, somehow lingering in the middle space between f*ck you and I want to fuck you. Odin knew what he was doing, too.

Teasing and taunting me at every turn. Then he had to go out of his way to be a hero, and I forgot that I was supposed to stay away.

REVIEW:The Don’t Hate Him series is back at it again with the next installment. Spicy Disaster is the sixth addition to the series, as always I do recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it, but each book can be read as a standalone in an interconnected world.

Odin is a burly, grump of a man who looks more like a viking warrior than the average Joe. Odin made a choice that had unintended consequences, ones that ended him in a place he never should have been. Now he’s free, with a new outlook on life and a fresh coat of paint if you will, and a super power to boot. He has a rare type of blood, nicknamed “Golden Blood” for its uniqueness, and because of that he meets Constance and her little girl, Wendy.

Constance is raising Wendy all on her own, and while she loves her daughter more than anything in the world, she struggles. Wendy is sick, so sick that she requires regular transfusions to keep her healthy, this isn’t easy when the blood required is so rare. Just when she thinks hope is lost, she gets a random email that sparks hope for not only her but Wendy as well. She packs them both up and heads to the small town listed in the email. Little does she know not only is there hope for Wendy, there’s also hope for her as well.

For a storyline so fast paced, I was really happy with how things moved, it didn’t feel rushed and really expanded on Odin’s background and why he is the way he is. You could tell from the moment Odin and Constance meet there was a connection, and when Wendy starts spending more time with Odin, the way he softens for her is so very sweet. His relationship with the little girl who acts so much older than her young age is touching and adorable, seeing a big grump like Odin gentle is truly a sight to see.

Overall I did enjoy the book, it’s spicy of course, but more than that the story is touching, the characters will make you smile (maybe cry a little too) but they will stay with you. I really like this band of misfits if you will, and look forward to seeing what else the author has in store for us.

REVIEW: We asked for it…and she delivered it. The next installment in the Don’t Hate Him saga is here with Be the Full Problem. As the fourth installment in the series, each book can be read as a standalone in the interconnected world, but as always, I recommend reading the series in order.

Boone and Nettie’s story took me for a ride. We met these two in previous books, but we didn’t get their full story until now, and boy what a story it is. These two people love each other, love each other so much that every struggle, every rocky path, every bad person that wanted to keep them apart, couldn’t. Nettie is a hard nut to crack, she has survived family drama, heartbreaking loss and evil people trying to take her down, but she persisted, she fought back. And eventually she won. Through all of that she has her sarcasm and an inner strength fueled by a support system of good people that took her back when she needed and the love of a man that would do anything (and damn well did) to protect her.

Boone is a sweet hearted man that just wants to love and care for his woman. He would do ANYTHING to protect her, even if it meant he would be without her. That type of pain, the self inflicted kind, its torture to a man like Boone. But Nettie is everything. These two fight through so much to get to the other side of it, to find their happy, and when they do it made me feel like I could finally take a deep breath. Now don’t mistake this as a book where one chapter they are fighting and the next everything is all better, no. They work through their trauma and those are hard words to read, but wading through them leads them to the place they always were meant to be. Together.

Nettie and Boone were on an adventure of discovery, their journey started when they finally were able to start the life together they both always wanted, and it was so worth the wait. I loved these characters and very much hope to see more of the series in the future.

REVIEW:The next addition in the Don’t Date Him series by Lani Lynn Vale is here. Not a Side Chick is a small-town, slow burn romance filled with action, heat and secrets. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone in the interconnected series, but as always I recommend reading in order to get the most out of it.

In this book we have Edith “Eddy” and Weaver, two people that shoulder more than they should, who carry secrets that could rock the very foundation of their small, sleepy town. Eddy’s parents are hiding things from her, and when she uncovers their secrets she is shocked, but determined to make things right. As she starts to slowly uncover more, danger lurks in every corner. That’s when Weaver makes his debut. Weaver, a man that wears his own secrets plan as day on his face, a man no stranger to danger, but just the man to possibly help keep Eddy safe. As they draw closer, both Eddy and Weaver uncover not only the truth behind the town and its secrets but also the truth about one another. A truth they neither of them are ready for.

Ms. Author, how I adore how your beautiful brain works! Eddy is a true hometown sweet heart and Weaver is just what she needs. This story is the way it is because of the emotional angst and depth of its characters. Each of them is layered with so many things that once you think you have them figured out, you’re pulling back another layer and learning something new. This is the best kind of slow burn, yes you wait for the spicy scenes, but trust me when I say, the wait is worth it. If you’re looking for something to sink your teeth into, this is the weekend for it.
