ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 30, 2025

šŸ”„ He fell from the sky like a god of fire. She was sent to expose him.šŸ”„
When wildfire expert Ember Vale arrives at the edge of an inferno in Arizona, the flames aren’t the only thing acting strange. Suspicious fire patterns. Inconsistent reports. And the Blackstrike Unit—an elite team of smokejumpers with eyes that burn a little too bright.
Especially their leader, Dax Fane.
Dax is everything Ember doesn’t trust: powerful, controlled, magnetic. But when he drops from the sky to lead his crew into hell, she sees something inhuman in him… something that calls to her. She was sent to investigate. She never expected to be hunted by fire or claimed by fate.
Dax knows Ember is his mate the moment their eyes meet. But he’s cursed, bound to a dragon side that grows more unstable by the day. Claiming her might save him. It might also doom her. Especially when a rogue dragon rises from the ashes, bent on revenge, and targeting Ember to get it.
With a wildfire closing in and secrets igniting around them, Dax and Ember will have to choose, duty or desire, survival or surrender. Because the only thing more dangerous than this fire… is the way she makes him burn.

REVIEW: ASHFALL is the first instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult FIREBOUND erotic, paranormal, romance series focusing the Blackstrike Unit, a team of smoke jumping dragon shifters. This is team leader Dax Fane, and arson investigator Ember Vale’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives ( Dax and Ember) ASHFALL follows arson investigator Ember Vale as she is tasked with searching for the truth about a series of forest fires in the Coconino National Forest, Mogollon Rim, Arizona. Ember’s arrival sets the Blackstrike Unit of smokejumpers on edge but especially team leader Dax Fane, whose dragon knows immediately Ember is their mate. As Ember begins a deep dive into the origins of the fires, our heroine begins to suspect Dax and his team know more than they are willing to share. The familiarity of the fires cast doubts for the Blackstrike Unit, a familiarity long thought buried and gone.

The world building focuses on the fires in Coconino National Forest, Mogollon Rim, Arizona: their origins, their power, the nature of the burn, and the almost sentient act of hatred and betrayal.

The relationship between Dax and Ember begins acrimoniously as Dax tries to remain calm in the face of meeting his fated mate. Ember is suspicious of Dax and the Blackstrike Unit-wary of the possibility of potential guilt, secrets and lies. Desperate to claim our heroine as his own, Dax must reveal his own secrets, and the secrets of his men he has sworn to protect. The $ex scenes are limited but impassioned.

We are introduced a couple of members of Dax’s Blackstrike Unit, a crew of dragon shifters all hoping to find their mates: Kade, and Rafe.

ASHFALL is a story of magic and mayhem ,secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, acceptance and love. The fast paced, action packed premise is intriguing and dramatic; the romance is fated; the characters are magical and determined.

REVIEW:THE LASSO MASTER is the fourth instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult COWBOYS OF SILVER SPUR SECURITY erotic, Dom/sub, romance series. This is former US Navy SEAL / billionaire/ co-owner of the Iron Spur / Silver Spur Security Dom Reed Malone, and professional thief Harper ā€˜Specter’Langston. THE LASSO MASTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including Dom/sub situations, there me triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three omniscient third person perspectives including Harper and Reed THE LASSO MASTER follows in the wake of the arrival of Harper Langston at the Iron Spur. Reed Malone suspects Harper’s visit to the Iron Spur is more of a scouting mission than a need to scene, Harper is on the hunt for a missing artifact, and the Iron Spur is one of the main stops on her list of possible sightings but Harper never expected to come face to face with Dom Reed Malone, the man who would take control of her life and her heart. Desperate to help, Reed will set into motion a plan to recover the artifact as well as pulling Harper out of the life she has led for so very long.

The world building focuses on Harper’s need to locate the missing artifact, as she ventures from Texas to the auction in Mexico City, where she will encounter a ghost from the past, and discover more than ancient artifacts up for auction.

The relationship between Harper and Reed begins acrimoniously but Reed is a Dom, and his need to control will be focused on the woman with whom he will fall in love. Reed remains professional in his manner, and cool in the face of potential betrayal but a need to protect and uncover the truth, Reed digs deep into the life that is our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative

Once again, the determined and dynamic secondary and supporting characters include co-owners of the Silver Spur Security and the Iron Spur Exclusive Sex Club- Gavin Briggs, Hawke Turner, and Dawson Hart, as well as Jesse Bryant, and Harper’s former handler Stuart.

THE LASSO MASTER is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is limited but impassioned; the characters are desperate and charismatic.

REVIEW:THE UNCROWNED KING is the second instalment in Donna Grant’s adult THE BASTARD paranormal, fantasy duology set in the author’s Dragon Kings world. This is the continuing story of Dragon Derek, and hellhound Kora. THE UNCROWNED KING should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of THE BASTARD KING. I recommend reading the Dragon King series in order as there is an ongoing premise including the search for a missing King, and the history as to how the dragons came to live in Zora.

SOME BACKGROUND: For tens of thousands of years the Dragons have lived and ruled on Earth but a war between the dragons and humans forced the Dragon Kings to send the other dragons through a portal into an unknown world. Fast forward to present day, the portal has been revealed, and the Dragon Kings have been reunited in Zora, with their family and kin, but a new war is on the horizon between the Dragons, the Divine, the people of Stonemore, and a woman known as Villette

Told from omniscient third person perspectives including Derek and Kora THE UNCROWNED KING continues to focus on the search for Derek-who is the mate to Kora, and under the control of Miena, a powerful Star Person who is taking aim at the dragons and Dragon Kings but Derek, and his brother ā€˜Gordon’ are unfamiliar to the Dragon Kings, and Con, unfamiliar in a way that is unnatural and wrong. Having found then once again lost the man that she loves, Kora must go in search of our hero, a dragon who has target Kora and the Kings.

The world building is, once again, complex and detailed, following several paths, several fights and battles, and a layer of mistrust that runs dangerous and deep.

The relationship between Derek and Kora is tempestuous throughout the series as Derek is lead to believe Kora is the enemy; that the Kings killed his mate; and his obedience has been commanded by the only woman he has ever known. Often times left to his own devices, Derek struggles with the memories that may or may not be real but memories that threaten his future with the woman he once loved. The lone $ex scene is passionate.

Once again, there Is a large ensemble cast of powerful, magical and supernatural beings, all of whom we have met in the numerous interconnected series. Con and Rhi return, as well as their children Brandr and Eurwen; and Villette, Eurielle and their sister Miena.

THE UNCROWNED KING reveals a potentially new path and new ARC with the inclusion of hellhounds, the Star People, and the new clan of dragons under Derek’s command. The premise is intricate and thorough; the romance struggles in the face of lies and mistrust; the characters are desperate and magical.

They’re mates who shouldn’t be. If Ella can’t get Gideon out of her head, she’ll lose her career. He’ll be damned if a human negates his fire.

Can they deny what destiny has in store for them? Challenging fate may have worse consequences than they ever imagined.

REVIEW:Another new author for me šŸ˜‰ and a shifter book (one of my favourite reads) so I’m well happy 😊

Ella, has a strong personality who takes no messing from anyone. She values her work and has worked hard to get where she is now. It might be a family owned business, but didn’t do her any favours. She loves her job (the one thing that puzzled me though… it’s family run, but hardly any of her family wander through or are mentioned!)

Gideon is a dragon shifter. He has the reputation of being a bad boy, but it didn’t really come across that way (well I didn’t to me šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø) He loves his job. He make’s jewellery for the family run business. (Now this is where it differs from Ella, we meet, and hear about his family all the time šŸ¤”)

I liked how the author (through Gideon) explains how the shifter community works. How they shift/meet other dragons and how they live in general, (they are governed by a dragon council) We got the information in a way that wasn’t just an information dump (you get some authors just unload too much too soon!)

Meeting leads to obvious chemistry between Ella and Gideon. One thing leads to another…. The bedroom scenes are spicy 🄵 but there aren’t too many (lately all I’ve been reading is no plot and lots of $ex, it gets a little monotonous)

Did make me roll my eyes when they decided they weren’t going to be together, they wanted to continue their own lives separately. It’s good to have conflict, it’s ok to make them realise they will be happier together. (Nothing worse than no drama) but both Gideon and Ella got a little whiny (that is me skipping a few pages)

I loved Felicity, Ella’s friend/roommate, she’s an absolute blast. Witty and totally out there, but we all need a friend like that. Some of the stuff she comes out with had me chuckling.

So when an opportunity arises that could end they’d bond, will they take it? or will they finally realise what they have really is special?
Storyline is fairly original and straightforward. Characters are well thought out.

It’s descriptive without wasting pages. A recommended read if you like your shifter stories. I’d love Felicity to get a story, that would a fun read.
