This is KOAMC forty year old, treasurer Jim ‘Whiskey’ Weller, and twenty-eight year old, deputy and professional wrestler Twila Dix’s story line. SOME BACKGROUND: The small town of Paradise Falls, and the surrounding town of Hell, Kentucky has been targeted by a religious cult known as the Pearly Gates, and their leader Reverend Ezekiel Crowley. Rev Crowley rules with an iron fist, and has control of local law enforcement and politicians, threatening anyone who gets in his way.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Whiskey and Twila) PROPERTY OF WHISKEY follows in the wake of another missing young woman, thought to have been abducted by the followers of Rev Crowley. Without proof, and rumors of another runaway teen, the local Sheriff battles between head and heart, fearing repercussions from the Pearly Gates, believing the Kings of Anarchy MC are involved but all is not as it appears to be when Deputy Twila Twix, the sheriff’s daughter begins a search of her own, only to find herself a virtual prisoner of our story line hero. Whiskey Weller and the KOAMC are all too aware of the Rev Crowley’s history and determination, having rescued several women thought to be lost or gone but Whiskey finds himself falling for our story line heroine as she endeavors to uncover the truth, with or without the Sheriff’s help.

The world building continues to focus on the religious cult known as the Pearly Gates and their leader the Reverand Ezekiel Crowley. While local law enforcement fear retaliation and making good on the threats against family and friends, Twila and the Kings of Anarchy MC begin a search of their own, with the help from an unlikely source.

There is a slight nod to a potential supernatural element, hinted at in previous instalments but again, there is no revelation or proof, only speculation and a bit of a red-herring.

The relationship between Whiskey and Twila begins acrimoniously. Twila has been blinded to the rumors about the local MC, and when she finds herself a virtual prisoner of Whiskey Weller, reality of her situation reveals a man who is hoping to take down the people responsible for destroying their community. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters are numerous, energetic and determined. We are reintroduced to Several MC members including Bullet ,Holler and Lottie, Legend and Sophie , Royal and Becki, Oaks and Brittany, Derby and Legend’s sister Amelia, Twila’s ex Cal Mercer, her father Sheriff Amos Dix, Whiskey’s daughter Wren, and her mother, Holler’s sister Beth; cult survivor Kaylee Quill, and the return of Reverand Crowley.

PROPERTY OF WHISKEY is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, madness and obsession, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic, dark and edgy; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are desperate, dynamic and decisive. PROPERTY OF WHISKEY ends on a happily ever after-for now, the Pearly Gates conflict and premise has yet to be resolved.

REVIEW: THUNDER is the first instalment in Elizabeth Knox’s contemporary, adult SHOTGUN SAINTS MC: KINGS OF THE ROAD erotic, cowboy, MC, romance series, a spin off set in the author’s SHOTGUN SAINTS world, which in turn is set in the Reaper’s Rejects Worlds. This is SAA Thunder, and twenty-two year old, cattle breeder Presley Hutchins Lyle’s story line. THUNDER should not be read as a stand alone, it is recommended to read Presley’s novella, found in the SHOTGUN SAINTS MC: The Complete Series boxset, as well as PHANTOM book three. If you have not read either story line, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Presley and Thunder) THUNDER follows in the aftermath of an attack on the Shotgun Saints MC. Thunder is in recovery with bullet wounds inflicted months before, while Presley struggles to find a place with the family that knew nothing about her existence. Working for the Shotgun Saints MC cattle breeding program, Presley finds herself on the outside looking in but for one man who is struggling to accept he is no longer able to do his duties to the club . An organization known as The Firm is taking aim, and the Shotgun Saints MC may be facing their most dangerous foe to date. Meanwhile, Presley and Thunder’s relationship crosses the line of no return, and with it, incurs the wrath of the man in charge.

The world building focuses on animal husbandry, the rejection by family for a perceived betrayal, and the protection of the members and their family of the Shotgun Saints MC. We are witness to rebuff of an innocent woman caught in the crossfire between family members, and the search for a woman, everyone knows is dead and buried. The original conflicts continue into the new spin off, conflicts that will pit the members against a foe they can not take down.

The relationship between Thunder and Presley is one of the forbidden. Presley is the youngest daughter of MC president Phantom, and as such, is off limits to the members of the MC. Thunder is a single father whose attraction to Presley has been stifled by a possible career ending injury but Thunder is determined to work-through the pain and humiliation as watches from the sidelines as the woman he loves suffers at the hands of the people who refuse to accept her existence. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is another large ensemble cast of familiar, colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we met in the original SHOTGUN SAINTS MC series including president Phantom and his wife Marlena, road captain Banshee and Bex, Shadow and Grace, Rogue and Hadley, Phantom’s son and Presley’s half-brother Shiver (Reaper’s Rejects MC), as well as Spur and Dakota, and Thunder’s daughter Raine.

THUNDER is a fast paced story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and rejection, acceptance and love. The character driven premise dramatic and edgy; the romance is limited but seductive; the characters are desperate, determined and a little bit broken.

A business arrangement of a sort, Anna and Nico’s marriage begins acrimoniously but the slow build to love finds our couple struggling with similar losses and betrayal by the people in charge.

The relationship between Nico and Anna is tempestuous at best. Anne blames Nico for her father’s death, while Nico’s guilt allows Anna access to destroying what’s left of his heart. Nico fell in love with our heroine years before but Anna is unaware of Nico’s connections to her father and their past. The $ex scenes are erotic and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters are questionable and defiant. We are reintroduced to Stefano, Vitale, Lorenzo (Enzo), as well as Anna’s father Juan Vales, her long suffering mother, and Nico’s housekeeper Magda.

REVENGE ON THE MAFIA is a slow building story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, murder and retribution, power and control, dysfunctional family dynamics, acceptance and love. The character driven premise dark, gritty and dramatic; the romance is edgy and intense; the characters are desperate, determined and broken.

Walking the halls of my high school after two decades reminds me why I’ve blocked those years from my memory. The walls hold secrets but perhaps none as potent as the woods behind the school where a life ended too soon.

I wasn’t able to make a difference then. But I’m not a frightened kid anymore. Bullies no longer scare me. It’s time to deliver long overdue consequences to those who have never been held accountable for their actions.

With my pack of wolf dogs and this blindingly bright fake boyfriend at my side, nothing can go wrong.

REVIEW:Rhodes is a sharp, satisfying little novella that digs into the kind of unfinished business most of us would rather leave buried.

The premise alone had me hooked…. Rhodes now an adult has returns to the halls of his old high school, (school reunion) but he’s no longer that scared kid who once watched something terrible happen in the woods behind the building, and who has decided the people responsible have coasted long enough without consequences. (You need to read to find out what it was 🫣)

That quiet, simmering rage is what drives the whole story, and as usual this author handles it with the same unapologetic edge that runs through the rest of the Van Doren books. And I loved it.

Rhodes arrives with his pack of massive wolf dogs animals that feel less like pets and more like living extensions of his will, and don’t forget Bennett (a fake boyfriend who is clearly there to serve as both cover and complication. 😜)

The dogs are pure chaos in the best way….. they give the quieter moments a feral energy that keeps the tension from ever fully settling. The fake boyfriend setup, meanwhile, starts as pure practicality and slowly reveals itself as something warmer and far more interesting than either man planned, (they remind me a little of Loren/Oakley)

The novella moves quickly, balancing the darker undercurrents of past trauma and present day reckoning with the kind of charged chemistry we have come to expect.

There is heat, there is possessiveness, and there is that particular Van Doren brand of loyalty that borders on the unhinged.

Yet the story never loses sight of the story, a man who has carried guilt and helplessness for twenty years finally deciding he is strong enough to do something about it.

Because it sits inside the larger family web, there are familiar faces and the comfortable sense of an established world, but the book still works as a self contained story.

If you already enjoy the Van Dorens, especially the protective, slightly feral energy that surrounds them, this one will have you smiling.

I finished it wanting more time with Rhodes and his strange, devoted little family of dogs and chosen people, which is exactly the feeling a good novella should leave behind.

All of her RH relationships end up being heavily polyamorous – meaning it’s not just all the men for one woman. There’s also some M/M action going on. When she can’t fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center – and utterly swoon-worthy! Don’t ask her how many book boyfriends she has…

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don’t even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping. Callista’s mother refuses to acknowledge the existence of her daughter’s father so our heroine hires an investigator to search for the man she no longer knows. Having spent eleven years in the US Navy, Callista retires, instead heading to places unknown in the hopes of meeting the man she wants to call father. A job as a bartender at ‘Shots’ brings Callista up close and personal with several members of the local MCs including Connor aka Eros, the man with whom Calli will fall in love but all does not go according to plan when our heroine is targeted by the president of a rival MC, a man who is about to claim Callista as his own. What ensues is the building relationship between Callista and Connor; the rebuilding relationship between father and daughter, and the potential fall-out as Callista becomes fodder in a war between rival MCs.
