ABOUT THE BOOK: RElease Date April 25, 2026

Unemployed and directionless after devoting seventeen years of his life to the Marine Corps, Lance made the choice to follow his fellow lost soul to the small town of Misty Glades, Oregon. Where he promptly landed himself in a hospital.

Then an auburn-haired beauty in nursing scrubs stepped into his life and unknowingly became his new purpose. All he had to do was temporarily sacrifice his powers in exchange for the chance to make a good impression.

No pain, no gain, right?

Lynnette worked hard and did her best to avoid the drama other nurses seemed to thrive on. But when the sources of that drama labeled her a target, there was no staying out. And an NDA only she seemed bound by meant there was little she could do in her own defense.

A defense which got thinner the more time she spent with Lance. Her patient. Her very charming, very handsome, very off-limits patient. He was under her skin and with each passing hour it became harder to deny her infatuation. She needed a break—and not the kind that involved being attacked by wayward cartel thugs, or letting the harassment chase her away.

Then the sheriff waltzed in with a loaded gun and her fragile routine shattered.

REVIEW:FIGHTING TO STAY is the second instalment in Rose Wulf’s contemporary, adult MARINES OF MISTY GLADES-Meddlesome Moirai Tale erotic, paranormal, romance series. This is former US Marine Lance Blackburn, and nurse Lynette Garver’s story line. FIGHTING TO STAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of FIGHTING TO STAY run parallel to and cross over with some of the events of book one HOME TO STAY.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jenna and Lance) FIGHTING TO STAY follows in the aftermath of the shooting of our story line hero. Discharged by the Marine for his supernatural powers, Lance finds himself working alongside best friend Jon Johnson in Misty Glades, Oregon when a bullet lands Lance at the same hospital where he will discover his fated mate but from the outset Lance notices questionable behavior about the doctors and nurses, and finds himself guardian and protector of the woman with whom he will fall in love. Meanwhile, a human trafficking ring has targeted the women of Misty Glades, and Jon calls in help, determined to set up his own operation to protect and defend those unable to protect themselves.

The world building is detailed and complex as the small town of Misty Glades becomes the epicentre for the Cartel, questionable law enforcement, and a problematic townsfolk and hospital employees.

The relationship between Lynette and Lance begins as nurse and patient but Lance has been forewarned that his future will be found within the walls of the hospital. Meeting Lynette Garver, Lance knows immediately she is the woman that will call to his heart but our heroine has been targeted, and Lance is determined to protect Lynette, even if he has to make the predators disappear. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, questionable and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of Jon and Jenna (Home to Stay). We are introduced to Sheriff Morty Parker, nurse Claire, Dr. Gavin Bishop, desk nurse Amy, nurse manager Gayle, and former US military, Herb, Billy and Foxe. The requisite evil has many faces.

FIGHTING TO STAY is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and madness, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic and gritty; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined and dynamic but I was hoping that the author would reveal the evolution of the supernatural talents, or at the very least, the existence of shifters and the like.
