REVIEW: HELL ON WHEELS is the first instalment in Nikki Landis’ contemporary, adult RBMC : LAS VEGAS NV erotic, paranormal MC romance series-a spin off from the author’s RBMC: TONOPAH, NV- a part of the multi-authored Royal B*stards MC series. This is thirty-six year old, veteran US Marine Flint ‘Maddog’ Shepherd, and twenty-seven year old, Lark Simmons’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Lark and Maddog) HELL ON WHEELS follows in the aftermath of the rescue of our story line heroine. One year earlier, Lark’s younger sister Molly was abducted and sold in sexual slavery, and Lark was determined to save her life but all did not go according to plan when Lark found herself the prisoner of a sexual sadist, and never did discover the whereabouts of her sister. Abused and terrorized, Lark would be rescued by former US Marine Flint ‘Maddog’ Shepherd, the man with whom Lark will fall in love. Flint Shepherd knows the only people who can help are the RBMC Tonopah, but Flint never thought he would find his future as the president of the newly formed RBMC: LAS VEGAS, a position that came with unexpected abilities and new found powers. What ensues is the building relationship between Lark and Flint, and the potential fall-out when the past comes back to reclaim what it had lost.

The world building focuses on Lark’s struggle to find her sister, and the take down the men who destroyed their lives. With the assistance of the RBMC Tonapah, and the man with whom she is falling in love, Lark will come face to face with the past, including facing down the man who destroyed them both. As Maddog slowly comes to terms with the loss of lives on his tour overseas, our hero will face a new future, and a new direction

The relationship between Lark and Maddog begins as a rescue. Maddog witnesses the smack down of our story line heroine, and in the aftermath of the rescue, Maddog draws the ire of Guerrero Cartel. Desperate to find the location of her sister, Lark struggles with her attraction to our story line hero, and the need to place herself back in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and powerful secondary and supporting characters including several members aka reapers from the RBMC Tonapah, as well as Lark’s sister Molly, their brother Torin, and Lucifer f’n Morningstar.

HELL ON WHEELS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, madness and obsession , acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is dramatic and graphic; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are dangerous, determined and dynamic.

The relationship between Manic and Bianca is a childhood best friends in which Manic was never good enough for our story line heroine. Benny De Santo lost everything from his innocence to his sense of worth but meeting Bianca meant everything including a chance at his own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters including the return of Manic’s caretaker Craven, several members of the RBMC Tonapah and Las Vegas MCs including Maddog and Rael, and Lucifer, himself. The requisite evil has many faces.

RECKLESS MAYHEM is a dark, dramatic and emotional story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, greed and obsession, acceptance and love. The premise is gritty and haunting; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are tragic, twisted and determined.
