REVIEW: IN THE SPOTLIGHT is the first instalment in KE Osborn’s contemporary, adult SUNSHINE AND SPARK erotic, rock romance duet focusing on the lead singer of the all girl rock band Luminous, Vespa ‘Effa’ Carrington, and lighting director Kaden ‘Mercs’ Mercury.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Effa and Mercs) IN THE SPOTLIGHT follows the ‘forbidden’ relationship between lead singer Vespa ‘Effa’ Carrington, and lighting director Kaden ‘Mercs’ Mercury. Luminous needs a new lighting director and Kaden Mercury is the man for the job but Effa has made the members of the band promise not to seduce our story line hero but Effa finds herself falling for the man in question. As the band continues their tour, chaos ensues as trouble follows in the wake of Kaden’s arrival. Jealousy and heart break add to the spiral as misunderstanding and miscommunication are at the heart of a potential betrayal by someone they know.

The world building follows Luminous on tour: sex, drugs, alcohol, and rock and roll all combine for the proverbial ‘ugly bed fellows’ as Mercs and Effa find themselves the target of betrayal, and the past has caught up with our story line hero.

The relationship between Effa and Mercs is one of the forbidden as declared by our story line heroine but the heart wants what it should not have, and our couple are determined to prove they are meant for one another. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the members of the band Luminous: Casey, Andi, Kristy, Alana,their manager Lucas; bodyguard Roaul; roadies Tank and Jay; Mercs sister Keira, their grandmother, and fellow rocker Jett Jones.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT is a story of secrets and lies, obsession, betrayal and jealousy, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic and intriguing; the romance is seductive and fated: the characters are determined, charismatic and desperate. IN THE SPOTLIGHT ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

OFF THE RECORD should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book one IN THE SPOTLIGHT.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Effa and Mercs) OFF THE RECORD picks up after the cliff hanger of IN THE SPOTLIGHT in which Effa is fighting for her life. Months of physio and rehab find Effa regaining what was lost but Mercs finds himself face the sins of his past, and is about to pay with blood and tears. As the couple battle their own demons, Mercs sister is struggling with her own health problems, and Mercs has promised to stand by her side.

The world building follows several pathways as Effa, Mercs and his sister Keira all must do battle to survive. Each is fighting their own fight, each is on the precipice of losing it all.

The relationship between Effa and Mercs continues to be passionate and intense. Mercs is fighting between head and heart, as Effa must come to terms with a past she knew nothing about. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of the previous story line characters return including the members of the band Luminous: Casey, Andi, Kristy, Alana and ,their manager Lucas; bodyguard Roaul; roadies Tank and Jay; Mercs sister Keira, their grandmother, and fellow rocker Jett Jones, as well as the introduction of Effa’s parents Donny and Lettie.

OFF THE RECORD is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, obsession and jealousy, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is edgy and dramatic; the romance is impassioned; the characters are dynamic and determined.
