A deadly mission. A stolen legacy. A love neither of them saw coming.

Lady Veronica Standwick has spent years proving she is more than another woman waiting for rescue. As a spy for the Underground, she has learned to trust no one and guard her heart with the same precision she guards the Crown’s secrets. But when she locates the lost heir to the Saltersford dukedom, those iron barriers begin to crack.

James Dunning is a quiet schoolteacher who believes shaping young minds is the greatest adventure he will ever have. When a sharp-tongued beauty arrives at his door claiming he is the lost heir to a dukedom, he thinks she has lost her mind. But the proof she carries is undeniable. And so is the woman holding it.

As James adjusts to his new life as a duke, the mystery of why he was kidnapped as a child brings on a new danger—an assassin wanting to take his life. As Veronica fights to keep him alive, James finds the red-headed beauty impossible to read and harder to look away from. For Veronica, the allure of James awakens a feeling she thought long buried: love. But the secret she hides may destroy them both before his enemies ever get the chance.

Lady Veronica’s Lost Gem, Book 6 of the six-book Riddle Sisters series, is a sweet and clean Regency romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. Perfect for fans of Sarah M. Eden and Julie Klassen.

•••••••

REVIEW: Lady Veronica’s Lost Gem is thrilling conclusion to The Riddle Sisters series, a sweet, clean Regency romance that perfectly blends espionage, mystery, and opposites/attract love.

As book 6, it wraps up the overarching family secrets and conspiracies while giving the fiercely independent Lady Veronica her own well deserved happily ever after.

Lady Veronica Standwick is no damsel in distress. She’s a skilled spy for the Underground, hardened by years of guarding Crown secrets and trusting no one. Her ironclad emotional walls have served her well, until her latest mission leads her straight to James Dunning, a quiet, unassuming schoolteacher who turns out to be the long lost heir to a dukedom! When Veronica arrives at his door with undeniable proof of his true identity, James’s peaceful life of shaping young minds is upended in the most dramatic way possible!

What follows is a delightful rags to riches journey as James navigates his new role as duke, complete with etiquette training from the sharp tongued Veronica. The chemistry sparks immediately through their opposites attract dynamic…. she’s all fiery determination and guarded vulnerability, while he’s steady, kind, and seems to genuine.

As danger escalates, an assassin targeting the new duke, plus the lingering mystery of James’s childhood kidnapping, Veronica must protect him while fighting the unexpected pull of her own heart. James, in turn, sees through her defenses and gently pushes past every barrier she’s built. 🥰

Veronica is a strong, capable, and layered, character, yet her buried longing for love makes her vulnerable. James is the perfect counterbalance, patient and honorable, with a quiet strength that proves far more compelling than any rakish charm.

Their romance builds naturally through shared danger, stolen moments, and mutual respect, staying true to the clean/sweet style with tender kisses and heartfelt connection rather than explicit content. The spy elements add welcome suspense and intrigue without overwhelming the central love story. The author ties up the series’ loose ends beautifully, delivering satisfying resolutions for the Riddle sisters while keeping the focus on Veronica and James.

As the finale, Lady Veronica’s Lost Gem feels like a warm, rewarding send off to a beloved series. It’s low angst overall, with just enough tension from the assassination plot and Veronica’s internal struggles to keep pages turning.

If you’re looking for a clean Regency romance with a clever spy heroine, a kind hearted hero who rises to the occasion, secret heir vibes, and gentle opposites attract sparks, this one is a gem. It stands well on its own but is even richer after following the previous Riddle Sisters books.

Highly enjoyable and a perfect palate cleanser after reading some of the stuff I’ve read 😜

I loved seeing Veronica finally let someone definitely a series highlight!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 30, 2025

A dangerous truth. A guarded protector. A love she never believed was meant for her.

Lady Arianna Riddle has never been the one people remember. The youngest sister. The practical one. The girl who learned early that quiet was safer than noticed. But when a letter from her late father meant for her late mother lands in her hands, dismissal turns to danger. Someone wants that letter. And they want Arianna silenced.

Christian Ashcombe has learned not to let anyone too close. Working for The Underground has cost him more than most would understand, and trust is a luxury he cannot afford. When he watches Lady Arianna receive a letter at a ball, he knows exactly what it means. And exactly how much danger she is in. He meant to take the letter and disappear. Instead, he takes her.

The dark-haired beauty he noticed from across the ballroom becomes the woman he must keep hidden. But the naive debutante he expected proves to be something else entirely. She is sharp-minded, observant, and the only person who can decipher what her father left behind.

What begins as a mission becomes something far more complicated. For Christian, her mind unlocks clues he has been chasing for years. And for Arianna, he is the first person who needs her for more than her dowry. Somewhere between mistrust and partnership, two people who thought they knew their place in the world discover they were never meant to remain invisible.

But the secret in that letter holds more than answers. It holds the power to destroy the fragile bond neither of them meant to build. And as danger closes in, they must decide whether trust, earned the hard way, is worth the risk.

•••••

REVIEW: Lady Arianna’s Secret Spy, is the fifth installment in Jennifer Monroe’s Riddle Sisters series. I’ve read a few and I’ve liked what I read.

As a standalone (though familiarity with the series enhances the family dynamics), it delivers exactly what fans of sweet, closed door historical romances like.

It has high emotional stakes, intriguing suspense, and a heartfelt slow burn connection between two guarded souls.

Lady Arianna Riddle, the often overlooked youngest sister, is a great character. She’s not the glittering debutante or the bold rebel, no, she’s the quiet, observant one who’s learned to fade into the background for safety.

Arianna’s sharp mind and understated courage shine as she deciphers her father’s cryptic letter, turning what could have been a passive “damsel” role into one of active partnership.

Enter Christian Ashcombe, the brooding spy hero with a tragic past and a no nonsense demeanor.

His initial plan to snatch the letter and vanish quickly evolves into a protective (and reluctant) kidnapping, setting up one of my favourite tropes, the classic “forced proximity”. Christian’s layers peel away slowly, he’s jaded from his work with “The Underground,” yet Arianna’s quiet resilience chips at his walls. Their banter is witty without being overt, and the tension between mistrust and mutual reliance had me unable to leave this story alone.

The plot weaves intrigue and suspense into the Regency setting…. a mysterious letter threatening national secrets, shadowy pursuers, and hidden safehouses. Danger lurks without veering into graphic territory, and the mystery unfolds at a brisk pace.

What I really liked about this book was the characters, they protagonists start as “invisible” figures, Arianna overshadowed by her sisters, Christian isolated by his secrets. But they “see” one another and recognise lost souls.

Overall, clever heroines, and protective heroes, this is a winner.

It’s perfect for a cozy afternoon read that leaves you smiling.

Highly recommended for fans of the series or anyone seeking a low angst, Regency romance with a dash of spy adventure!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 28, 2025

As the most unconventional of the Riddle sisters, Lady Cordelia has never cared for polished manners or society’s expectations.

Climbing trees and chasing down wayward piglets suit her far more than embroidery and polite conversation.

When she discovers a hidden note inside an antique goblet, one that leads to a man tied to her late parents’ past, she sets off for London. There, she crosses paths with a guarded scholar who wants nothing to do with adventure.

Vincent Barringer, the reclusive third son of an earl, has found peace within the quiet halls of the Society of Antiquaries. Haunted by his years at war, he prefers books to people and silence to society.

Cordelia’s sudden arrival, full of questions and determined energy, disturbs the careful order he has built. Before long, he is drawn into a mystery that threatens to upend everything he thought he knew.

As they follow the trail of a long-buried conspiracy tied to the secretive Order of the Silver Star, Cordelia and Vincent must learn to trust one another if they hope to uncover the truth. Yet trust does not come easily, especially for a battle-scarred soldier or a young woman who has never let anyone truly close.

With danger mounting and secrets unraveling, will these unlikely partners find more than answers in each other? Or will the truth cost them the future neither ever dared to imagine?

The fourth book in The Riddle Sisters series, Lady Cordelia’s Scarred Soldier is a heartwarming Regency romance filled with intrigue, loyalty, and a love that grows where it is least expected.

••••••••

REVIEW: In the fourth installment of The Riddle Sisters series, *Lady Cordelia’s Scarred Soldier*, we are treated to a delightful blend of romance, intrigue, and characters set against the lush backdrop of Regency England. Author Jennifer Monroe weaves the story of Lady Cordelia and Vincent Barringer, pairing a spirited young woman with a haunted scholar in a tale that promises romance and adventure.

Lady Cordelia is an unconventional heroine, fiercely independent and unafraid to shun societies expectations. Her daring pursuits, such as climbing trees and chasing piglets, establish her as a refreshing figure in a world governed by propriety. When she discovers a hidden note within an antique goblet, her curiosity drives her to uncover the truth about her parents’ past, leading her to London and into the life of Vincent Barringer….

Vincent, is the reclusive third son of an earl, a battle scarred soldier struggling with his past. His preference for the quietness of antiquities rather than the chaos of human interaction establishes a contrast to Cordelia’s love of life. The dynamic between these two is beautifully written, filled with tension, reluctance, and the possibility of love.

The plot unfolds as Cordelia and Vincent delve into a long buried conspiracy linked to the enigmatic Order of the Silver Star.

The atmosphere is with suspense and urgency, with dangers lurking at every turn. The historical context is cleverly woven into the story.

The pace is set at a good pace, keeping me locked within its pages until the end!

As Cordelia and Vincent navigate their way through perilous situations, they must confront their own fears and learn to trust one another. The gradual development of their relationship is heartwarming, it grows from mutual frustration and unpredictability to a connection of a shared purpose.

The author’s writing captures the Regency period while keeping the dialogue authentic. The secondary characters just add to the story.

In conclusion, *Lady Cordelia’s Scarred Soldier* is a delightful addition to The Riddle Sisters series.

It’s a tale that balances romance and adventure, demonstrating how love can emerge from the most unexpected alliances.

Whether you’re a longtime follower of the Riddle Sisters or new to the series, this book will certainly leave a lasting impression.

It’s not necessary to read in order, but there is an underlying story and characters that have appeared in previous books.

•••••••

REVIEW: “Lady Bridget’s Wayward Rake,” the third installment in The Riddle Sisters series, is a captivating Regency romance that skillfully weaves together themes of love, trust, and deception. Jennifer Monroe has created a richly layered story that pulls readers into a world brimming with intrigue and emotional depth.

The story revolves around Lady Bridget Riddle, a fiercely loyal and courageous woman whose dreams of a peaceful life at Ivy Cottage are shattered when her father’s will ties her fate to the charming yet reckless Marcius, Marquess of Heathfield. Marcius, known for his disarming charm, is determined to win Bridget’s trust, but she is resolute in her resistance. Their initial dynamic is electric—filled with tension and uncertainty—as Bridget grapples with her growing attraction to a man she instinctively distrusts.

The author excels at developing her characters, reading poor Bridget’s internal struggle between her longing for simplicity and her unexpected feelings for Marcius, had me hoping she gets what she deserves. Their marriage of convenience soon evolves into a complex relationship that tests their vulnerability and aim for authenticity in a society rife with appearances.

As the plot unfolds, the arrival of a hidden secret regarding Bridget’s late parents adds a thrilling twist, propelling the book into darker territories. The couple must navigate through a web of deception that not only challenges their fragile union but also allows room for the love quietly blossoming between them.

This subplot enhances the emotional stakes, emphasizing the power of trust and the bravery required to embrace one’s heart.

The author’s writing is both elegant and engaging, painting vivid images of Regency life. The pacing is set at a good pace, ensuring that the romance and suspense build nicely, leading to a great ending.

“Lady Bridget’s Wayward Rake” is a sweet, enchanting read that beautifully captures the essence of romance amid danger and uncertainty. It is a testament to the courage it takes to follow one’s heart, making it a wonderful addition to any Regency romance lover’s collection.

I loved the book, yes it’s clean/sweet, but after reading some of the darker books I like, this is a palate cleanser. I just hope the sisters have another sibling 😉

The first in The Riddle Sisters series, Lady Eva’s Fallen Rogue is a Regency romance filled with endearing characters, secrets, and a love that defies all odds.

••••••••

REVIEW: A new series by an author I’ve not read before.

Lady Eva Riddle’s parents and fiancé are killed in a tragic carriage accident, and for over a year now, she’s looked after her younger siblings. One day she received a package and a letter, it advises her to talk to no one about the contents, but to seek out an ex Bow Street Runner.

Garrett Dryden is now a book binder, well that’s his cover, he’s actually private investigator (or thief catcher) down on his luck, he was once a man of wealth and title. He’s quick to judge the wealthy as they usually come across and rude and arrogant. But secretly longs to restore his good name.

He’s approached by a young woman who asks for his help in solving a case. At first he’s not really interested. But something about the case intrigues him….

Together they set off to uncover the mystery of the package and the “supposedly” accidental death of her parents and fiancée.

Both have trust issues, and it does take a little time for that trust to be earned. And even it does, then Garrett is convinced she is the last for him! But can he keep her safe from the danger that soon befalls them?

A clean/sweet romance is what I usually read when I’ve overloaded on dark/mafia and heavy topics. And this one hit the spot.

Both Garrett and Eva are really great characters, technically from the same background, until Garrett falls on hard times (do we find out why? 🤐) both are hard workers, both want answers to the puzzle that surrounds them.

A few plot twists (a few I saw coming, but one or two did surprise me.)

How will Eva take the news that her parents and fiancée were not all they seemed? And will she be able to serve justice on their behalf?

It’s the first book in a new series, and I can’t wait to see where the next one takes us. This one ends well, but leaves it open for the next book. So I’d probably advise reading in order.

If you like your romance with no smut, but with plenty of mystery, then I think you’ll like this one.
