ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 30, 2023

A duke in disguise, a creole miss determined to get her own way, a curse, and two nations at war, is love even possible?

New Orleans Creole, Miss Celestine St. Cyr-Duval refuses to live under the thumb of some man chosen by her parents. Celie will do everything to keep freedom of choice for herself and others. But fate interferes in the form of a duke disguised as British businessman, Caleb Elmond. A relationship with Caleb would find approval with her mother, but both Celie and Caleb have secrets that put them on opposite sides of a great conflict and could destroy them both.

With the Battle of New Orleans looming, can these two strangers from warring countries compromise and protect each other, or will fear and betrayal end both their lives?

•••••

REVIEW:A new author and a new series (this is book three) it stands on its own and doesn’t need you to read books one and two.

Celestine “Celie” has never known anything but her life, it’s not stopped her from wanting more and trying to get a better life. Celie is 1/4 black (today that is nothing, but in the 1800’s that wasn’t either colour, and so women who were of a mixed race were “kept” by white men as mistresses!)

Caleb “Cal”, is a man on a mission! He’s also pretending to be something he’s not! A British man in New Orleans in this period is definitely not welcome, so he needs to keep his cool and his head down….

It’s almost love at first sight for Cal, meeting Celie has him in a trance, his friend warns him to be careful, but Cal must have this magical creature.

They tiptoe around each other and their feelings, both hiding who they really are. Can Cal convince Celie that he wants more than her being his mistress. And will Celie forgive Cal when she finds out that he’s not really who he says he is?

A period drama/action/romance is always a firm favourite with me. And this author is a new one. This book is the third one in the “Duchess Series”, I’ve not read the other two, but if they are as good as this one then at some point I’ll go back and read (but I’ve added them to my TBR list ?)

I also liked that there is a second story (and the reason why Cal is in New Orleans) in the book. There is drama, action, voodoo and of course the romance.

I love the history part of this book, it added something to the story. I like it when history is wrapped up in the romance.

So if you’re looking for a romance with a historical touch, then grab The Creole Duchess now.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 19, 2023

Beware the fire for it burns.

It’s time to find my home. My family.

In a world where strength is hunted and those unlike the rest are sentenced to death, my kind are better off in groups. Fire is not something to dabble in and when given the right fuel, it can destroy anything.

Thus, we are public enemy number one in the world of supernaturals.

While investigating a connection between the Division of Silence and ORKA, monsters are also trying to find those responsible for giving humans magic with which they use to kill supernaturals. I’m in the middle of these investigations, even as I try to find my own happily ever after.

The Harem Project has my family. I’m sure of it. And when I meet the House of Agni, I know without a doubt that they are the matching flames to my fiery soul.

There’s just one problem – someone beat me to their hearts mere weeks before me.

My name is Zuri and I’m not sure I’m even going to get a happily for now, never mind a happily ever after. Especially not when monsters have just called an all out war on ORKA and I’m left wrecked for the family I was too late to claim.

•••••

REVIEW:Back to one of my favourite series and a firm favourite one click author.

The Harem project had just gone from strength to strength. Building a world full of large families that live/love and fight to keep that tradition going. Paranormal beings that are being persecuted by ORKA (an organisation that is slowly and systematically destroying anything or anyone that they deem “not normal”!) and don’t forget the organisation calling themselves The Silence!

Zuri is added to the family (almost as an afterthought) she’s added to the House of Agni, but Emrys is still finding his feet with the house, so I felt her story was ignored in favour of his! Her character is a great one, she’s fierce, intelligent and extremely independent.

Emrys is a character that you just want to cuddle and protect. He’s been lonely for so long, he’s given up hope of ever getting a family of his own. His life hasn’t been a happy one, so when he finds the House of Agni you can’t help but cheer.

I did get a little confused as the description on the back of the book lead me to believe it’s Zuri’s story, who in fact didn’t make an appearance till almost chapter 13 (40% of the book!) I think maybe it should have been focused on Emrys!)

This is book six in the series. You don’t need to read the previous books, but you’ll meet previous characters and there is an ongoing story, but the author gives you a quick rundown.

The Harem project are slowly connecting the dots between The Silence and OKRA! And it’s not a good connection! There is also a shock and a twist that I didn’t see coming!

As with the previous books you are treated to a smorgasbord of emotions. I love watching how an established unit have room in their hearts and lives for one or two more people. There are individuals that have connections with just each other, but they love as a whole. The banter is witty, and the fighting spirit is plenty, and they need all the help they can get. I like how they connect and interact with the other units/packs.

There are triggers in this book as there are in the series. So please read the warnings before reading the book.

I throughly enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend reading in order.

Win the gladiator tournament and receive a gift from the gods.

Kerrigan is determined to gain that boon to save her people.

•••••••

REVIEW:Fourth book in this amazing series. You won’t really be able to read this book without reading the others first, it will make more sense to read in order.

Book four starts where we left book three (House of Curses) ….

Kerrigan and Ford reemerge from a portal to find out they’ve come out in her mothers land!! (I’d like to say more, but I don’t want to spoil anything)

Then Kerrigan tries fighting her way back to her own realm and people (and that’s when it gets interesting)

If your looking for a recap, it’s best you go back and read through book three (which was what I did) we don’t get bogged down with previous information (which in this case would have been helpful, as it’s been a while since book three was released)

I couldn’t put it down once I started. The action is fast. The words just flow off the page and into a wonderful read. (I’d watch them if ever considered for a series or set of films)

This plays with all of your emotions. We meet new and old friends, new allies are formed. Betrayal/battles/twists and turns. Heartbreaking moments that will have you reaching for the tissues ?and a family reunion that could have gone either way!!

I loved the gladiator battle, very descriptive (almost a Russel Crowe moment) Felt sad that Kerrigan is without her magic at the moment, and you kept hoping she’d find it. But instead we watch as she overcomes her lack of magic, Kerrigan is nothing but resourceful.

The ending came far too quick, and now we have to wait for the next book.

It’s not a cliffhanger ending, but it does set us up for I’m assuming the last battle and book.

And I can’t wait.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 28,2023

Vampires and Viajante have tolerated each other’s existence for centuries, but not without exceptions. When Mara was six, her Viajante family was murdered by vampires without provocation. Not only did her future change, so did she, a secret hidden even from her own people.

No longer a child, and no longer confined to Sanctuary, Mara’s headed into vampire territory in search of answers behind the attack, and to the mysterious prophesy she’s been linked to. She expected danger, and quite possibly getting her butt kicked a time or two before avenging her family. The last thing she expected: an alliance with a powerful and sexy vampire bent on making her his own.

Can Mara and her new family unravel the mystery and bring the truth to light, or will those responsible for the death of her family, and the attempts to silence her, remain forever in shadow?

Extinguishing Shadows is a paranormal fantasy that questions everything you think you might know about enemies and friends. Heather Beal spins a beautiful web of magic layered with intrigue and surprise into a breathtakingly high-stakes story that will leave you wondering, just how deep does the darkness go?

••••

REVIEW: There are trigger warnings to this book, so please read the warnings before grabbing this book.

Mara is a Viajante (an immortal traveller “gypsy” who can read minds) her bloodline hold a dark secret, which may have caused her to lose her family at a young age!
She wants answers and revenge, so sets out to find both!

Terrill Is a vampire. He’s been a warrior for his people for many years. Coming across Mara should have been a happy occasion, but when your soul is a bitter enemy, he’s torn. But fate wins out in the end, and Terrill can’t do anything but fall for his enemy! But there is a twist in that part that had me totally surprised!

It made me think of Romeo and Juliet with a little of those paranormal films thrown in for good measure (underworld I think they were called) it’s not quite a slow burn romance, (more of a medium burn) but what drew me in and had me reading the whole book in a day was the action, it’s fast paced and really well written.

On this journey Mara’s mind reading ability comes in handy, well it did until she meets Terrill…..

I liked the concept of “the soul” linking one person to another, it’s a little like “fated mates” where a predetermined person is the one who makes you complete.

The dub con (dubious consent) comes into play in this book, and although not really explained it doesn’t stop me from reading the book.

Being linked to a deadly enemy is proving to be a challenge, it’s causing her to question the link. But it’s also gaining her enemies from the vampires and her own people!

We get to see other beings in this book as well as us mere mortals (some aline themselves with vampires in the hopes of gaining power)

So if you like your vampire/paranormal stories with lots of action and a dollop of romance then grab this book. It’s full of betrayal, double dealings and a few twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting the next book.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 28, 2023

This Omega doesn’t do drama, drugs, or hockey players. The first two for obvious reasons. The last because I don’t shit where I eat. As the daughter of the Phoenix Heat’s owner, I know better than to dip my toes into that particular pool. The league is way too small a world, and I am a drama-free zone.

When my daddy strongly suggests (read: insists) I come home for a visit, how can I say no? But without my besties by my side, there’s no one to stop me from making an epicly stupid decision when I discover the Heat’s captain in a compromising position. I’m suddenly in the one place I swore I’d never be…a hockey player’s bed, forging pack bonds I had no intention of having.

When scandal erupts around us, I vow to do whatever it takes to save my new pack, even at my own expense. In a moment of desperation, I lock lips with their nemesis right on the kiss cam. Now, I’m the one in desperate need of saving from the grumpy center of the Chicago Storm.

Can this Omega bridge the gap between these mortal enemies, or have I just doomed us all?

•••••

REVIEW:I’m not really a sports fan, but I’ve recently read a few hockey books and really enjoyed them. So when I found out one of my favourite authors had a new book out (with a hockey theme) I grabbed it….

It’s a why choose story and West has her hands full with a multitude of partners.

But it’s not plain sailing, not at all!!

Nash/Porter/Huxley/Ziggy/West are the characters in this story. And I have to say I throughly enjoyed it.

Nash “the beast” Daniels has a temper, he’s a great hockey player (but personally I think) but has a chip on his shoulder! He’s being asked to let a princess (his words) use his rink!! I have a feeling he’s going to a pain in her a$$!!

Porter Hanson (Omega) plays for the Phoenix Heat team, pretty laid back and easy going. All that changes when he meets West, he’s literally blown away by her, and wants to get to know her better, but can he get along with Nash?

Huxley Mccarren (Alpha) is a powerhouse of a hockey player. Nothing gets past him on the ice. But coming face to face with another Omega (he’s in a relationship with Porter) has him fiercely possessive and protective.

Ziggy, (Beta) well Ziggy Marshall is a professor and smitten with West, he’s hoping he can become more than a friend to West. He’s got his work cut out getting past Porter and Huxley (he’s friends with Nash) But he thinks West is worth the effort.

West is the FMC and is a total firecracker, she is a no nonsense character. Her heart is kind and her comebacks are sharp. She doesn’t know how to process her feelings as she falls for each MMC and she’s not sure how this pack will form, she just knows she needs them all in her life!

So we’ve met the characters, let’s discuss the plot….

It’s two hockey teams, and they don’t really get along, so how will these come together? Well it’s all down to West?

It’s doesn’t go smoothly at all at first, there is a lot of hostility and mistrust. There is banter, there is instalust and instalove ? but there is also plenty of relationship building within the pack. MM MFM MF and plenty of bi-awakening and group loving ? we also have two omegas, but it does revolve around West.

There is a little angst, but not a lot. It’s mainly West trying to build her life after being told by her father she needs to visit him! Then becoming involved with hockey players from opposing teams! It’s a pretty fast paced book, and it does end with a HEA for all involved.

And you know when something is bugging you? A character you think you’ve heard about before, but can’t quiet place them? That is until it clicks and you’re squealing like a hockey fan ? yup, that was me…. And the character (Huxley) made an appearance in (“Not Yours” Omegaverse Series book) and what’s more we get to catch up with a few old characters from that book, which I absolutely loved (I read and loved that series)

So I’m highly recommending this book to omegaverse and hockey-loving readers.

Features stories from-
Crea Reitan
Kady Monroe
Kelly Lord
Lizzie James
Raven B. Stone
S.K. Graves

••••

REVIEW->There are trigger warnings throughout this book, so I’d read the warnings before grabbing the book.

There is also taboo subjects (but I personally didn’t see them!)

I do love an anthology, it gives you a chance to read new authors. I grabbed it as it has my favourite author in it (Crea Reitan) her book “I have sinned” was definitely my favourite in the anthology.

Some were a good size novella, one was a little short, but it got its message across.

It’s definitely made me want to look at the rest of the authors to see their writing.

Do a quick review of each book ….

.
____

For I have Sinned Crea Reitan

It’s about a priest falling in love, he’s fighting his feelings and the church. They aren’t big on homosexual relationships.

Both Zaiden and Ellsworth were likeable and I found myself hoping they would be together. But it’s not an easy journey. And there is a few heartbreaking moments!

It’s almost an instalove (but it’s a novella, so it’s going to be quick ?)

_________

When Opposites Collide by Kady Monroe

This novella is based in a college, and the MC, hasn’t come out yet (in fact he has a girlfriend!)

I liked this one as well, although again a short story it did feel a little rushed! But once the MC decided he was going to love who he wanted to, there was no stopping him ? I’d love to see a series with the rest of the friends who supported both the main characters as they all seemed like a pretty great butch of characters.

_____

My Strength, my Weakness by Kelly Lord

I’d say this is my second favourite in the anthology.

Griffin and Kendall have an office romance with a side of kink ?

I loved Ken, so full of life and colour, and Griffin definitely needs that in his life.

What starts out as flirting soon turns into more…. But Griffin has a life already mapped out! Can he give the love of his life up?

_________

Dangerous Elysium by S. K. Graves

A dark college romance. Stalking and obsessive thoughts and actions!

The twist comes where is not the jock who is the stalker ?

This was the shortest story in the book, and just as I’m getting into it, it finishes!! I’d definitely buy it if it ever became a full novel.

Caspian and Beaufort were were great characters, and I’d love best friend to Caspian to get a book.

___________

Unbreakable by Lizzie James

Tyler and Damon are together, they just haven’t told their families.

Firemen and policemen ? I love a story with uniforms, I also like established couples. And this one had both.

It basically told a story about how a couple went about telling family and work they were together. Simple idea, but a whole barrel of emotions.

___________

Shatter Me by Raven B. Stone

Without giving too much away Griffin and Maxim come together after a hacker steals money from a company!

I’d definitely says it’s more of a sweet romance feel to this office romance.

There is a little revenge and a twist. Great characters and a storyline that flows really well. Although it did seem a little rushed (like the author forgot it was a novella! ??‍♀️)

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 6, 2023

Twelve years ago, 21st-century librarian Gwen decided to remain in the Dark Ages with the man she loves above all else – a man around whom endless well-known tales of legend and magic have been spun. King Arthur. Over the years, she’s carved a life for herself by her husband’s side, gently steering him in the direction she wants him to go, but always with an awareness that he’s a Dark Age king with a Dark Age view of the world.

Equipped with her prior knowledge of Arthurian legend, Gwen’s sole aim has long been to save her husband from the legendary fate she dreads hangs over him. But always, at the back of her mind, is the nagging doubt that whatever she does is already set in stone, and nothing she can do will change his future which is already her past.

Now, in book five of the Guinevere series, she’s all too aware that time is marching on, and that this fate might well be drawing closer to the man she gave up everything for.

Danger lurks in the most unexpected places, and long-hidden secrets threaten to rise to the surface. After a long, cold winter in their hilltop fortress, Gwen’s pleased to welcome traveling players to Din Cadan. But these players are hiding secrets of their own, and one of them has come with black deeds in mind. Gwen will have to fight harder than she’s ever done to save herself and thus her husband. And all evidence points to the hand of Morgana, Arthur’s wicked sister, manipulating everything from afar.

Throughout all of this, simmering in the background, is young Medraut, Arthur’s nephew. Unnoticed, despite still being only a boy, he’s been exerting his malignant influence over those around him, in particular, Gwen and Arthur’s son and heir. The wedge he succeeds in driving between Arthur and his son will carry forward into the cataclysmic events of the final book, The Road To Avalon.

But even Morgana can’t prevent Gwen discovering the truth behind the story of Excalibur and setting the legendary sword in her husband’s hands.

•••••••

REVIEW: Quest for Excalibur is the fifth and (I think) the penultimate book in this series. And I have to admit I’ve not read the previous books, but after reading this one, I’m definitely going back to read the rest…

Gwen, is a librarian from the 21st century and had landed in the times of King Arthur. She became Guinevere. (I’m not sure what happened to the actual Guinevere.) And had fallen for the legend/king/man Arthur.

There is lots of action and drama in this book, I did feel I was missing a little backstory (probably given in the previous books) but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. Lots of subplots that had me griping my kindle in places.

Gwen is a smart individual, she remembers enough of the story to not try to change the story too much, but also trying to make sure he doesn’t die an early death!

I liked Arthur, although technically a fictional character, this author brought him to life really well. He worried about being a good king and to being a good father to his two children he had with Gwen.

Morgana and Arthur’s nephew Medraut, are the main protagonists, but watch out for players that are hiding in the shadows, all are plotting to overthrow Arthur from his throne! They are definitely keeping Gwen on her toes!

A few plots were a little predictable, but others caught me off guard completely. It flowed really easy, and I could have read more pages.

It’s more of a teen book, but I loved it.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 7, 2023

The heart is a cruel master.

After the fallout between me, my brother, and Simon, I find myself either wallowing in a black pit of depression or lashing out with vicious rage. Technically, Simon still lives in the condo the three of us bought together, but ever since our relationship imploded months ago, I’ve barely seen him.

His absence is loud and it feels like a knife through my heart.

I miss dancing with him. I miss having him sandwiched between my brother and I at night. I miss the soft brush of his lips against mine, just because. I miss him.

A newly single co-worker strikes a bargain. All he wants is someone to wreck his body while I get to let out my anger. It’s a win-win….

Except I’ve still lost.

Once, the only future I saw was with Simon, but I don’t see a future at all anymore.

Because all I have left is a broken heart and no one to pick up the pieces.

••••••••

REVIEW: After reading book one (For your Time) I really didn’t like twins Damon and Declan. They weren’t very nice to Simon, made his life miserable, and in my opinion caused Simon to leave and not return messages or phone calls.

I didn’t like the dynamics between the three, I felt it was just wrong. But that’s just my opinion.

Damon is still in love with his best friend, he doesn’t ever see that changing. But he won’t get to see him if him and his twin don’t change their way of thinking!

Sage is a fitness and nutrition professional in the same gym Damon works in. He’s had a crush on Damon for a while now, but has never had the never to approach him!

It’s starts with Sage proposing a casual relationship (just s£x!) to Damon, and even though both know it’s going to end up in disaster (Damon knows he’s going to break Sage’s heart) they approach each other with caution…..

It took till about chapter 12, for me to forgive Damon and for said character to pull his head out from his a$$ and see what a wonderful man he had in Sage. Once he came to that conclusion (after almost losing him!) he couldn’t hold back his love, he wanted Sage to be his and his alone ?

Additional characters were all needed in this book, including the brainwashed ex girlfriend and Sage’s horrible mother! She was a vile individual and I was glad when Damon evicted her from Sage’s life. I loved catching up with Simon and ? Didn’t see Vulcan in this book (sadly) but we did find out who Declan falls for ?

I want to see Declan’s side of the story now (even though we get a glimpse at the end of this book ?) I want to read his side immediately ?

And I’m going to admit I was wrong, I’m going to eat humble lie and beg forgiveness from both the twins and the author. I was ready to hate the book, and all the characters in it (I’m still in love with book one)

I ended up loving this book (book one still my favourite)

There a lot of triggers in this book, including a taboo subject that a few readers might find hard (and I have a feeling it might evolve in book 3 ??‍♀️)
