REVIEW:KING’S RECKONING is the seventh and final instalment in JC Valentine’s contemporary, adult BLIND JACKS MC series. This is Rowan Matthews Thompson, and MC Road Captain Reed Morrison’s story line. KING’S RECKONING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from omniscient third person perspective (Rowan) KING’S RECKONING follows in the wake of the arrival of Rowan Matthews, a young woman who wants to prospect with the Blind Jacks MC but Rowan has a secret that will directly affect King and the Blind Jacks MC,a secret that may get everyone killed. Seven graves, seven secrets, and various historical artifacts buried in 1995 in hidden tunnels and chambers, and a target on their back, finds the Blind Jacks MC facing years of history, fraud and a possible mole on the team.
The world building follows the search for the truth; the historical secrets hidden beneath the land that will affect all of the local MCs- their claims, their legacies and their very foundations. The actions, wherewithal, and abilities to prevent disasters are more accurate and precise than most military operations.
The developing relationship between Rowan and Reed is virtually non-existent on paper but more of a tertiary aspect, behind the scenes, to the search for the truth, and a need to protect historical records and documentation. Most of the story line focuses on Rowan, and her connection to the past. There are no $ex scenes.
We are reintroduced to SAA Marcus King, several members of the Seven Devils MC including club president Marcus Cole, Blackwood Archaeological, archaeologist and IT specialist Dr. Barbara Walsh (Ace of Hearts), club president Darkness, historian Dr. Beasley; Abby, and RN Tiffany Stone (Ryder’s old lady).
KING’S RECKONING is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is detailed and precise as the story line focuses on the search for the truth-years of secrets lie buried underground, secrets some never want revealed. The characters are energetic and dynamic.
