REVIEW: PROPERTY OF OAKS is the third instalment in Morgan Jane Mitchell’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF ANARCHY MC: KENTUCKY dark, erotic, romance series, a part of the multi-authored Kings of Anarchy MC. This is VP Oaks, and twenty year old, Brittany’s story line. PROPERTY OF OAKS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a very slight supernatural element.

Told form dual first person perspectives (Oaks and Brittany) PROPERTY OF OAKS follows in the wake of a night of drinking, a night when Brittany’s life begins to spiral out of control. Hitting on a married man is about to make Brittany the town pariah but Oaks’ attraction to Brittany does not go unnoticed. The target of Oaks’ wife, and the local religious cult known as the Pearly Gates Community, Brittany finds herself on the defensive until a physical attack threatens to take her life.
The world building follows the growing but forbidden relationship between Brittany and Oaks, as his current marriage arrangement is best for the club, a debt owed and paid by our story line hero. Oaks finds himself on the defensive when the club comes gunning but threats against Brittany find out couple on struggling to stay one step ahead of those determined to destroy them all.
The relationship between Brittan and Oaks is an age-gap, forbidden romance but the majority of the story line focuses on Oaks need to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love. Very few people support the growing love including the man in charge but as Brittany sits on the sidelines watching her life implode, our heroine is willing to walk away to save the man whom she loves. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of interesting, colorful and questionable secondary and supporting characters including club President Legend, Holler and Lottie, Oaks wife Bethany, Pearly Gates member Elijah, and several club ladies who take aim at our story line heroine.
PROPERTY OF OAKS is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, edgy and intriguing; the characters are desperate and determined. PROPERTY OF OAKS ends on a happily ever after-for now.
As to the supernatural element, I found it more of a distraction, without any ‘teeth’
