REVIEW:RECKLESS is the fourth instalment in KE Osborn’s contemporary, adult LAS VEGAS DEFIANCE MC erotic, MC romance series, set in the author’s Defiance MC worlds. This is Ethan ‘Ghost’ Garrity, and caseworker Sage Matthews’ story line. RECKLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Sage and Ghost) RECKLESS follows in the wake of threats against our story line heroine. Sage Matthews is a caseworker at a local shelter for at risk women and families but after numerous applications for funding are denied over a three year period, Sage begins to wonder if there is something more nefarious at work. A series of threatening text messages become more dangerous and dark, taking aim at Sage’s sister Piper, and the people she now calls friends and family. Ghost is a man who watches from the dark but our hero has found a pattern as it pertains to the woman with whom he is falling in love. Someone is targeting Sage Matthews, and Ghost is determined to take down the people in charge.
The world building focuses on the MC hierarchy-their roles and regulations, family and protection, and threats to the people they love. The arrival of Sage’s sister Piper adds another layer of necessary safeguards, for a woman who is about to expose the trail of betrayal.
The relationship between Sage and Ghost begins as friends, but quickly turns into something more. Sage is determined to make the first move as the man in question sits back and continues to watch from the dark. Discovering the threats, Ghost becomes guardian and protector, and with the help of the member of the MC, take down the people taking aim at our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of the member of the Las Vegas Defiance MC, each with a designate role to play in the protection of our story line heroine. The requisite evil has many faces.
RECKLESS is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and greed, power and control, family and relationships, friendships and love. The character driven premise is detailed, dramatic and edgy; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are determined and charismatic.
