At first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend’s place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her back.

But trust me on this count – she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you’ve got to play to your strengths when you’re fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I’m prepared to fight hard for her. I might have let her slip through my fingers the last time, but no way will that happen twice.
***

He’s the one who got away…
The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that, stripping at my job, showing off his rock hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky, arrogant jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he’s not a jerk . . .? He’s the one I’ve tried like hell to forget but just can’t. Maybe I’m cursed to remember him. My money is on him being the same guy he always was, but what’s the harm in giving him a week to prove he’s a new man? I won’t fall for him again.

But how do you resist the hot one…

••••••••••

REVIEW: THE HOT ONE is the second full-length installment in Lauren Blakely’s contemporary, adult ONE LOVE erotic, romance series. This is entertainment lawyer Tyler Nichols, and massage therapist Delaney Stewart’s story line. THE HOT ONE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Tyler Nichols is Simon Travers best friend (The Sexy One).

Told from dual first person points of view (Delaney and Tyler) THE HOT ONE is a second chance romance between two people pulled apart by ambition and greed. Delaney and Tyler were college sweethearts but a ‘well-meaning’ professor suggested that Tyler would be more successful removing the ‘outside’ interferences in his life. A promise for the future meant nothing when Delaney found herself single, and walking away from a profession she thought she would share with the man that she loved. Several years would pass before Delaney and Tyler would come face to face, and Tyler wants a second chance with the woman he loved and lost. What ensues is Tyler’s pursuit of Delaney Stewart, and Delaney’s reluctance to trust the man who destroyed her heart.

Tyler is a man sure of himself with an ego that goes with the territory. Well built and cocky, Tyler is determined to get back the woman he pushed out of his life. Delaney’s future plans were derailed and destroyed by two men who unknowingly opened her eyes to what was and what was never to be.

The relationship between Delaney and Tyler is one of second chances. Tyler walked out of Delaney’s life years before on the advice of a man who pushed Tyler to succeed. Delaney thought that one day she and Tyler would work side by side-both attorneys-but life had a way of coming up short, putting the brakes on everything Delaney once held dear. Their rekindling romance finds Tyler pushing the envelope while Delaney struggles with memories of the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

The secondary characters include Tyler’s best friend Simon Travers whom we first met in THE SEXY ONE. We are also introduced to Delaney’s besties Penny and Nicole, and a couple of Delaney’s massage therapy clients.

There is very little conflict between our leading couple. THE HOT ONE is a story of second chances; a rekindling of love between two people who have never stopped loving one another but I wondered why Tyler never made an earlier attempt to find the woman that he had always loved. The premise is entertaining, heartwarming and passionate; the characters are animated and spirited; the romance is lighthearted and captivating. THE HOT ONE is an enjoyable and consuming read; an intimate look at two people who have never stopped loving one another.

excerpt

Technically, I didn’t drop my drawers the first time I saw her again. Just my balls.
The ones in my hands. Juggling balls.
Here’s how it went down. Picture a Sunday morning in Central Park. A perfect summer day. The grass was green, the breeze was warm, and I’d just spent the last few hours getting acquainted with turtles and frogs at the children’s zoo because I’m an awesome uncle. And Carly’s one cool seven-year-old.
The kid loves all creatures, but especially the ones that jump and crawl, so I took her to the enchanted forest part of the zoo. When we finished, she tugged on my shirt sleeve, batted her hazel eyes, and asked ever so sweetly for an ice cream cone.
Like I stood a chance at resisting her. C’mon. She’s my cousin’s kid, and clearly she gets her charm from our side of the family.
With her hand in mine, we strolled across the grass near the running path, hunting for the nearest ice cream dealer.
And then Carly did that thing little kids do.
She shrieked for what seemed like absolutely no reason. Next, she pointed to an impossibly tall dude wearing a beret while juggling two Rubik’s Cubes, two orange balls, and a small green beanbag.
“He can do five, Uncle Tyler!” Carly shouted, her eyes going wide.
“Five isn’t too shabby,” I said with a shrug.
She turned to me with a questioning stare. “I’ve never seen you do five.”
“That’s because I haven’t shown you all my tricks yet.”
“Can you really juggle five balls?”
I scoffed. “Please, I can do that with my eyes closed.”
I didn’t put myself through law school juggling for nothing.
Just kidding.
You can’t put yourself through law school juggling anything but insane class schedules and lack of sleep.
Carly arched an eyebrow. So did the juggler, as he kept up the cascade of his quintet. Show-off.
“I want to see. Show me,” Carly urged.
Yeah, Carly’s a chip off the old block. She’s all about challenging me, and I’m all about rising to the challenge.
The stick-thin guy with the beret raised his chin. “Have at it, man.”
With clockwork precision, he let the balls fall out of orbit and into his palm. Next, the Rubik’s Cubes. Then the beanbag. He stepped closer, handed me the objects, and flashed a crooked, put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is grin.
Game on.
Packs of runners jogged along, cyclists wheeled over the black asphalt, and rollerbladers whizzed by on the concrete. With my feet parked hip’s width apart, I stood at the edge of the grass getting a feel for the items, weighing them, and then one, two, three, four, five, I whisked each one up into the air in a high oval arc. Round and round, in a perfect five-ball cascade.
Carly clapped, then demanded more. “Yes, now close your eyes!”
I groaned. What was I thinking? Juggling with eyes closed is fucking hard. But I could pull it off for a couple seconds. My special skill. I obliged my niece’s request, pulling off a few quick blind ovals. Five seconds later, after I’d shown off that particular party trick, I opened my eyes.
And I saw a vision from my past.
A blond beauty, with long legs, a lovely round ass, and a high ponytail swishing back and forth across her shoulders. She ran along the path in tiny orange let-me-peel-them-off-with-my-teeth-pretty-please running shorts. And that face. Dear Lord, the stunning face of an angel. High cheekbones. Deep brown eyes that saw me like no one ever had. Those red lips, shaped like a bow. Fuck me, the things she could do with those lips. The things I taught her to do with that sinful mouth.
Delaney sure as hell knew how to use it, and I don’t just mean in the bedroom. We used to talk about anything and everything when we were together in college. Days with her. Nights with her. Best time of my life. That woman was full of spark. Full of fire. So damn passionate. And look at her now.
Jesus Christ.
It had to be illegal to be that smoking hot.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 27,2017

As a second generation detective, Nathan Carter is a cop, through and through, one who definitely sees things in black and white. But his work ethic—and libido—are thrown off balance when he heads up the case against jewel thief, Regan Malloy. Because with one sizzling look, she’s got him hot and hard. And he’s been that way, ever since.

Growing up, Regan’s favorite hobby was learning to crack safes, and she was very, very good at it. Still, she’d always tried to keep to the straight and narrow, and only strayed when she believed a friend was in desperate straits. Now she’s out of prison and starting over. If only she could forget that she’d spent the last three years fantasizing about the stunningly gorgeous detective who locked her away.

It’s inevitable that they meet up again—in bars, hotels…and hotel beds. Despite their differences, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Still, it’s just desire. If they give it enough time, it’ll burn itself out. Because a good boy and a bad girl can’t possibly make it work. Can they?

••••••••••

REVIEW: FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL is the first installment in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult CUTTING LOOSE erotic, romance series. This is detective Nathan Carter, and former inmate Regan Malloy’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Nathan and Regan) FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL follows former inmate Regan Malloy-a second generation thief-who upon her release from prison finds herself in bed with the very man who made the arrest and sent her away. Enter detective Nathan Carter-a second generation police officer-and the man who hasn’t stopped thinking about the beautiful woman who stars in all of his erotic fantasies and dreams. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between thief and detective- Regan and Nathan- and Regan’s attempts to hide their secret from the family she loves.

FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL finds Nathan Carter unable to separate business from pleasure. His attraction to Regan comes at a time when his personal life begins to implode as the father he adores battles cancer, and a relationship with a former thief threatens his advancement and standings on the force. Regan is determined to go straight but her relationship with detective Nathan Carter is all sorts of problems for her family and her friends. As our heroine struggles with her future, Nathan struggles with his relationship with the woman with whom he is falling in love. The sex scenes are seductive and intense.

We are introduced to all of Regan’s family members including her brother Tom, father Sam and mother Sarah Malloy , as well as Nathan’s father, former detective Pete Carter. Regan’s friendships on the inside are her only hope upon release-former inmates Darcy and Summer who help our heroine get settled and start her on a path towards a new life.

FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL switches up the bad boy/good girl trope in that our heroine is guilty of the crimes she committed- a reformed thief, an ex-con, who is determined to make it on her own in a world that does not accept the life that she once led. The premise is entertaining; the characters are spirited, intelligent and dynamic; the romance is provocative and challenging. FALLING FOR THE BAD GIRL is a spicy look at a forbidden relationship.

Passion knows no bounds…

Avery Ross is living a dream. After struggling all of her life to make ends meet, a chance encounter with a powerful, darkly handsome man has catapulted her into a dazzling new world of penthouse luxury, elegant parties, and a wild, consuming passion with her billionaire lover, Dominic Baine. Nothing is out of his reach in business or in pleasure, yet the only woman he wants is her. Nick sweeps her to sensual heights she has never dared explore, commanding her body the same way he commands her heart. Yet Avery knows the fantasy she’s living cannot last.

With dark secrets and a dangerous enemy haunting her past, Avery must find a way to trust Nick with the truth before it destroys everything they share. But Nick is harboring secrets of his own as well. And when they come to light, Avery will be forced to decide if the love she feels for Nick is strong enough to endure a betrayal she may never be able to forgive.

•••••••••

REVIEW: FOR 100 NIGHTS is the second installment in Lara Adrian’s contemporary, adult 100 SERIES erotic, romance trilogy focusing on billionaire businessman Dominic ‘Nick’ Baine, and artist Avery Ross. FOR 100 NIGHTS should not be read as a stand alone as the story line picks up immediately upon the events of book one-FOR 100 DAYS.

Told from first person point of view (Avery Ross) FOR 100 NIGHTS continues to follow the building relationship between billionaire businessman Nick Baine and artist Avery Ross. For three months Avery kept secret her background and circumstance from the man with whom she was falling in love, and at the end of book one Dominic Baine demanded 100 nights of full access to our story line heroine in return for her dishonesty and lies. What ensues is a highly, sexualized relationship between Avery and the man whose secrets run deeper than Avery could ever have imagined. While Avery struggles to keep one step ahead of her past, the reality of Nick’s relationship with our heroine begins to unravel before her eyes.

For fans of the erotic, romance genre the 100 SERIES trilogy is a familiar trope with many similarities to another popular trilogy-the broken, billionaire alpha male with issues of trust, relationship phobic, a history with a woman who destroyed his heart, and too many secrets and a hidden agenda he hides from the story line heroine. Dominic Baine’s attraction to and need for Avery borders on the obsessive resulting in an unsettling build up between Nick and the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense, numerous and graphic.

FOR 100 NIGHTS does suffer somewhat with ‘middle book syndrome’ in that the slow build skirted many of the issues without answering all of our questions. The premise is intriguing; the romance is erotic and intense; the characters are passionate and playful.

••••••••••

REVIEW: FOR 100 DAYS is the first installment in Lara Adrian’s contemporary, adult 100 SERIES erotic, romance trilogy focusing on billionaire Dominic ‘Nick’ Baine, and struggling artist Avery Ross.

Told from first person point of view (Avery Ross) FOR 100 DAYS follows the building relationship between billionaire businessman Nick Baine, and artist/bartender Avery Ross. Avery’s life was spiraling out of control: evicted from her apartment for a condo conversion; the return of her unsold paintings from a local gallery; and the boss from h*ll that was always on Avery’s case, our heroine jumped at the opportunity to housesit for a virtual stranger. A chance meeting with businessman Dominic Baine brought everything into perspective when Nick offers Avery a night of romance that leads into something more. What ensues is Dominic Baine’s pursuit of Avery Ross, and Avery’s struggle to keep secret the past that could destroy her relationship with Nick if the truth were revealed.

The relationship between Avery and Nick is one of immediate attraction; a quick building romance wherein Avery becomes the woman in Dominic’s life- a life that Avery knows little about. Dominic is a Dominant and will demand everything from our story line heroine, something she is willing to give without a second thought. Life for Avery continues to flourish; her secrets will be revealed, and Nick will become her hero when everything begins to fall apart. There is some light BDSM including spanking. The $ex scenes are numerous, intimate and intense.

FOR 100 DAYS is a story line that slowly reveals a troubling trend between our story line couple. Neither one has been completely honest, and in this the intrigue begins to build when someone reaches out regarding Avery’s past. The premise is dramatic and moving; the characters are passionate and spirited; the romance is provocative and sensual but will challenge your idea of too much, too soon. FOR 100 DAYS does not end on a cliff hanger but ends with too many questions unanswered leaving the reader wanting more.

Valen (Guardian of Hades #2) by Felicity Heaton-a review

VALEN (Guardians of Hades #2) by Felicity Heaton-a review

Valen

: Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

About the book: RELEASE DATE February 25, 2017

Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Lightning, Valen was banished from his home by his father, Hades, two centuries ago and given a new duty and purpose—to keep our world and his from colliding in a calamity foreseen by the Moirai.

Together with his six brothers, he fights to defend the gates to the Underworld from daemons bent on breaching them and gaining entrance to that forbidden land, striving to protect his home from their dark influence. Cursed by Zeus to never know love again, Valen has brought up barriers around his heart to protect it, but with each new barrier he creates, the dark hold his power has over him grows, becoming all he needs.

Until the night he finally crosses paths with the assassin who has been watching him from the shadows, a bewitching mortal possessing the name of an angel and the skills of a devil—a woman who awakens his passionate heart and stirs dangerous desires.

Eva has built a fearsome reputation for herself in Italy’s underworld, but her latest job in her beloved city of Rome has left her feeling that she has stepped into a dangerous world and this mission might end in her death—either at the hands of her mysteriously seductive client or by the blade of the wickedly alluring warrior who is her target.

As the threat from the daemons escalates and more than just the Rome gate becomes their target, will Valen be strong enough to face the fears in his heart and the ghosts of his past to claim everything he desires or will they lure him deeper under their spell and into the darkness?

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: VALEN is the second installment in Felicity Heaton’s contemporary, adult GUARDIANS OF HADES paranormal / fantasy romance series very loosely based in Greek mythology, focusing on six brothers- the sons of Hades and Persephone -sent to Earth to guard the gates to the Underworld. This is Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Lightning Valen, and assassin for hire Eva’s story line. VALEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order as the brothers struggle against an unknown enemy to keep the human world and the Underworld from colliding.

NOTE: The Guardians of Hades series is Felicity Heaton’s interpretation of, and does not follow, the actual Greek mythological family tree or events.

Told from several third person perspectives including Valen and Eva VALEN follows assassin for hire Eva as she is tasked with taking down a man she knows nothing about. For months our heroine has tracked Valen without success until a run in with her target, and a broken vial of what she believes is poison, finds our heroine in bed with the man who will change her life. Enter Valen, the Lord of Lightning, and a man who believes he is incapable of love. What ensues is the search for the truth, and the building relationship between a mortal and a god.

The relationship between Valen and Eva is one of forbidden love. Eva was hired by a powerful man to bring Valen to his knees; Eva is a woman who for most of her life has remained hidden in the shadows, trained to kill but a woman who will fall in love with a man not of this world. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

All of Valen’s brothers including Ares and his mate Megan (ARES #1), Daimon eldest brother Keras, Marek, Clalistos, Esher, their mother Persephone, and uncle Zeus play secondary and supporting roles. The requisite evil comes with many faces including Benares and his sister Jin-the pair who hired Eva.

Like many of Felicity Heaton’s story lines the tale is told through written narrative, introspection, reflection and internal dialogue but it is the narration that carries most of the story. The premise is entertaining; the characters are broken, colorful and energetic; the romance is passionate and breathtaking. VALEN is an imaginative take on Greek mythology; a spirited look at forbidden love.

REVIEW: DIRTY DUET is the third installment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult FOUND IN OBLIVION rock star, romance series. This is keyboardist for the up and coming rock band Warning Sign, West Reynolds, and psychology student Lauren Bryant’s story line. The FOUND IN OBLIVION series is a spin off from Quinn and Elliott’s LOST IN OBLIVION series. Several characters from LIO and the authors’ HAMMERED series cross over and make cameo appearances for familiarity and cohesion. You do not have to have read the other series to follow or understand the events of DIRTY DUET. Dirty Duet can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Lauren and West) DIRTY DUET follows the building relationship between Warning Sign’s keyboardist West Reynolds, and Lauren Bryant. Lauren has been banned from getting too close to the band. Events from the previous few months found our heroine in stalker-mode as she struggled to get close to the fans, the groupies and the members of the band-all in the name of research. An innocent night spent with West Reynold’s finds our heroine on the road, and behind the scenes with a rock band, and a man with whom she will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, exploratory and seductive. Our heroine is a virgin who quickly learns what it is she is willing to do for the man who will steal her heart.

West Reynolds struggles with memories of the past; a broken home and a one-time girl friend who took from West all that he was. Lauren’s past finds our heroine battling her parents about her future, and her best friend about the path she has chosen to follow. A true book nerd, Lauren uses Tumblr as her answer to many of her sexual questions.

All of the members of Warning Sign play secondary and supporting roles including Juliet Reece (Triple Trouble), Michael Shawcross and Chloe Adams (Bedded Bliss), former drummer Ryan Waters; bus driver Denver Casey; drummer Malachi Shawcross, and lead singer Molly. We are also introduced to Lauren’s best friend Professor Ethan Haywood –a man who may or may not have a romantic interest in our story line heroine. Ryan and Denver’s story line is next in Lost Lyric.

The world building takes the reader behind the scenes and on the tour bus with the members of the band. We get up close and personal with their rituals and preparations on the road; their fans, their personality quirks, and the diva-like performances and actions of their leading singer.

DIRTY DUET is a slow building story line; an encouraging and engaging tale of romance, love, heartbreak and pain. The premise is energetic; the characters are passionate and inspiring; the romance is provocative and sexy. DIRTY DUET is a playful and animated look at one man’s chance at a happily ever after.

REVIEW: ROMAN is the seventh installment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult COLD FURY HOCKEY romance series focusing on the members of the professional hockey team the Carolina Fury. This is team enforcer/bad boy Roman Sykora, and barista/musician Lexi Robertson’s story line. ROMAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story line is revealed where necessary.

There is a secondary romance developing between Lexi’s father, Carolina Fury team owner Brian Brannon, and Lexi’s boss Georgia Mack

Told from three first person points of view (Roman, Lexi, Brian) ROMAN focuses on the troubled career of hockey enforcer Roman Sykora. Growing up in the Czech Republic, the son of absentee parents, Roman Sykora put all of his efforts into the game of hockey finally making something of himself in the NHL. As one of the league’s toughest enforcers Roman finds himself on the receiving end of too many suspensions, fines and negative press, and it doesn’t help that many of his less than stellar off ice activities have landed him on the front page news resulting in more suspensions and team fines. Meeting Lexi Robertson, Carolina Fury’s owner ‘secret daughter’ finds Roman focusing more on his volatile relationship with the team’s manager Gray Brannon seeing that Gray is Lexi’s half-sister by blood. What ensues is the building relationship between Lexi and Roman; Roman’s ongoing battle with the team’s manager; and team owner Brian Brannon’s new found love in the guise of Lexi’s boss and friend Georgia Mack.

Lexi grew up never knowing her father-a man she believed abandoned her mother without a second glance. Upon her death bed Lexi’s mother revealed the identity of the man she would come to call father-a man who would find himself falling in love with a girl he knew nothing about, and a woman that would call to his heart. Lexi’s relationship with Roman is threatened on numerous occasions by a well-meaning sister whose experiences with our story line hero are less than positive-experiences that have colored Gray’s opinion of the man that Lexi loves. The $ex scenes are seductive and provocative without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There are a large number of secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Carolina Fury hockey team, as well as team owner Brian Brannon, team manager Gray and her husband, former Fury goalie Ryker Evans, and Lexi’s boss/mother like figure Georgia Mack.

The world building divides its focus on two relationships: Lexi and Roman, Brian and Georgia, as well as Roman’s struggle to amend his bad boy reputation-with or without the support of team manager Gray Brannon-Evans. Gray will interfere on more than one occasion leaving a heartbroken Lexi to mourn the loss of several relationships that were starting to bloom.

ROMAN is a story of destined mates; of one woman’s search for a family she new had, and one man’s battle with the family he never wanted. The premise is heartwarming and energetic; the characters are spirited and passionate; the romance is captivating and spicy. REVIEW: DAMAGE CONTROL is the second installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult DIRTY MONEY romantic suspense series. DAMAGE CONTROL is the continuing story of attorney/billionaire businessman Shane Brandon, and PA Emily Stevens, and should not be read as a stand alone as the story picks up immediately upon the events and cliff hanger ending of book one HARD RULES..

DAMAGE CONTROL begins with an introductory prologue from the author recounting some of the major events of book one keeping the read up to date and refreshed about what happened and to whom.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Emily and Shane) DAMAGE CONTROL sees the Brandon family begin to implode as the ailing Brandon Senior continues to pit his sons against one another. Derek Brandon has dirtied his hands with illegal drugs, and connections to the cartel, while Shane fights back trying to clean up the mess his brother continues to build. Meanwhile Shane’s relationship with Emily takes a step towards permanency but threats against our heroine’s life may be coming from a couple of directions. When Emily reveals the truth about he past, Shane and his men try to contain any fall out from landing into the present.

DAMAGE CONTROL is a story of family, suspense, romance, and intrigue. Lisa Renee Jones pulls the reader into a captivating tale about betrayal and revenge, money and power, lies and deceit. The complex world building continues to focus on the dysfunctional family dynamics, and the battle to take over a once –thriving business whose hands are now mired in illegal activities unraveling our hero’s well-ordered life. excerpt

“You make me remember I need to be good and right in my choices.”
“Do you ever question doing what is good and right?”
“There have been times when I felt like my hand was forced.”
“When you were a lawyer?”
“No,” I say. “I manipulated the law, as does every attorney, but I never broke it. I’m talking about when I’m with my family.”
“Did you go where they lead?”
“Not so far.”
“That sounds like you might.”
“I don’t want to be them.”
“You aren’t them. You don’t have to be them.”
“I know that,” I say. “But you just keep telling me so I don’t forget.” Her legs hit the bed frame and she grips my arms.
I lean into a kiss and she pulls back, her hand pressing on my chest. “Wait. Now it’s my turn to say talk to me. Are you okay?”
“Death happened. The one thing I can’t control. It’s not the night to push me to stop protecting you. Not tonight. Can you do that?”
“Yes. We can.”
“We,” I repeat, “and that word sounds as good on my tongue as I know you’re going to taste. I’m going to make love to you properly. The way I plan to many times in our future.” I reach down and untie her robe, letting it fall open; my fingers sliding underneath just far enough to tease her nipples. They pucker beneath my touch, and her lashes flutter, settling on her cheeks. “But when it’s over, I’m going to fuck you hard and fast again.”
I tug gently on her nipples and she bites her lips. “Look at me,” I order gently.
She opens her eyes, and there is desire in their depths, but there are shadows there too,. I do not think she intends for me to see doubt or uncertainty that wasn’t there before. That I do not like or wish to know ever again. I want it gone. Now. Tomorrow. Forever. I reach up and rip the silk tie from her robe, wrapping it around my hand, before I reach up and caress the robe off her shoulder, letting it tumble to the ground.
“Give me your hands,” I order, but it’s really a question: Does she still trust me?
She studies me for several beats, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly, and I do not know what she sees in mine, but she offers me her hands. I wrap the silk around her wrists then lean in close to her, my cheek against her cheek, my body touching her nowhere else. “Now you’re at my mercy.”
“Yes,” she agrees. “I am.”
“How do you feel about that?”
“Warm.”
My lips curve with the answer that is every bit the combination of sweet sexy honesty I’ve come to expect from her. “I’m going to make you warmer.”
“Promise?”
I go still with that question, which on the surface is innocent, but I wonder if it truly is or if it’s about those shadows in her eyes. “I promise,” I say. “And you know, I never—”
“Make a promise you don’t keep.”
“Exactly,” I say, and her reference to my previous words tells me that I am not the only one on a mission of trust, and I intend to deserve hers.
I bring my hands to just above her shoulders, letting them lightly touch her before beginning a slow caress downward. She makes a soft little sound that has my cock thickening and my blood running hot, but I won’t rush this. My lips follow, tracing a line down one of her arms, then the other. I lean and caress my lips over hers, a feather light touch that teases me, if not her.
I take her hands in mine, pressing them behind her head. “Hold them there, for me, so I can see all of you. Understand?”
“You intend to tease me incessantly,” she says, without so much as a hint of hesitation. “Yes. I understand.”
I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her naked body against me, my free hand on hers above her head, our mouths a breath apart. “I intend to lick every part of you, and then do it again, so yes. If that’s the definition of incessant teasing, then yes. I am going to tease you incessantly.” I close my mouth down on hers, my tongue licking into her mouth, a deep, hungry tasting I force myself to end far too quickly. “That was the beginning. Should I could continue?”
“Yes. Please.”
“Please,” I say. “I like that.”

REVIEW: GOING DOWN HARD is the third installment in Carly Phillips’s contemporary, adult BILLIONAIRE BAD BOYS erotic, romance series focusing on a trio of close knit friends-Derek West, Kaden Barnes and Lucas Monroe, and former business partner Julian Dane-a spin off from her DARE TO LOVE SERIES. This is billionaire businessman Derek West, and Storms Consolidated heiress Cassie Storms’s story line. GOING DOWN HARD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cassie and Derek) GOING DOWN HARD focuses on the rekindling relationship between billionaire Derek West, and multi-media heiress Cassie Storms. As a teen, Derek grew up on the Storm Estate-the son of the family gardener and maid, and his attraction to Cassie was destroyed when days before Cassie headed to college our heroine sided with her friends making disparaging remarks about Derek and his family. Fast forward approximately twelve years wherein Derek is now co-owner of a billionaire dollar computer firm, and Cassie is working for the competition-her father’s business-a business Derek is hoping to destroy. What ensues is a second chance romance between Derek and Cassie, and the revelation about a theft and accusation made to protect the Storm family name.

Cassie was never the spoiled, little rich girl, and her attraction to Derek meant going against her father’s wishes. Along the way, our heroine worked diligently to keep the family business afloat only to be blindsided when her father handed down leadership to his prodigal son. Derek West needed to prove he was worthy of love and respect; successful businessman, a billionaire, and a son who is determined to protect his mother’s reputation, and make someone pay for the death of his father. Meeting Cassie flew all good sense out of the window, and found Derek falling for the woman who once destroyed his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.

All of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Kaden and Lexie (Going Down Easy) #1) Lucas and Maxie (Going Down Fast #2), as well as former business partner Julian Dane, and Lexi’s sister Kendall Parker. There is some heartbreaking history between Julian and Lexi-there story will be told in GOING IN DEEP. We are also introduced to Derek’s mother Marie, as well as Cassie’s brother Spencer, her father Christopher and her long suffering mother Daniella Storms

GOING DOWN HARD is a quick read; a story of secrets, betrayal, and regret. The premise is engaging and spicy; the romance is passionate and energetic; the characters are genuine and inspiring. GOING DOWN HARD is wonderful second chance story for two people destroyed by sins of the past.
