ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 24, 2026

Pop princess, fake prince, real temptation—her big comeback just got wildly complicated.

After a very public meltdown and a canceled world tour, my music career is hanging by a thread. And now, my record label is all but telling me to kiss pop-stardom goodbye.

My PR team’s brilliant solution? A fake relationship with Hollywood heartthrob Grayson Hemsley—charming on camera, and absolutely insufferable behind closed doors.

But there’s a bigger secret I’ve been keeping. A teensy detail about me that the tabloids would have a field day with: I’ve never actually…done it. There. I said it. And I’m starting to think my music is missing that authentic spark of experience.

So, I hire an escort for a one-night solution. Taio Wilkes is gorgeous, kind, hilarious, and nothing like I expected. When he discovers my true intentions, he doesn’t take my money and run. Instead, he offers something I never saw coming—friendship, and lessons in the art of intimacy without rushing the main event.

Just when things get comfortable, the paparazzi catches us together a little too close for casual. My solution to the storm of cheating accusations? Make Taio my new bodyguard.

Now I’m caught between Grayson’s sudden jealousy-infused interest and my deepening connection with Taio, who is still suffering from the wounds of his past and claims he’ll never settle down.

With the deadline for my big career comeback looming, I’m questioning everything—if the spotlight is really where I belong, or if my happily ever after might be waiting somewhere offstage.

When your whole life is one big performance, how do you figure out which feelings are real, and which ones are just for show?

REVIEW: The Off the Books series continues in the second installment, Paper Hearts by Kay Cove. As always, I recommend reading the series in order, however, each can be read as a standalone in the interconnected series. For readers that like a finding yourself, contemporary romance, this is the book for you,

We met Charlie in book one (Selfie in the Lesson) the up and coming pop-star artist who is struggling showing her true self in her music. She is struggling on an emotional level and with no one that truly knows her can help her. When she has a crash-out in public her label cancels her tour, and then threatens to end her music career for good…unless…she gets her image under control. There grand plan for this you ask…a fake relationship with none other Grayson Hemsely. Charlie is deadset against the Hollywood hottie, he himself is nothing but fake, so why would she want anything to do with him. Charlie on the other hand has her own problem she is trying to deal with, a problem with a solution named Taio.

At first, I thought Greyson was going to be our main man, but nope, that’s our Taio. Taio with all the green flags, with his friendship and kindness, with his support and patience. He teaches Charlie how to not only be herself but to showcase the talent within herself that makes her who she is. This then allows her music to bloom into something new and more real than it ever has been.

Paper Hearts is a romance yes, but it is also a book of self discovery. Charlie and Taio’s relationship may start off as one thing, but the honesty they share, the support and openness is what makes their relationship last. Taio is there for Charlie when she needs him without asking for anything in return. When we learned more about him and his relationship with his family, my heart broke for him. To do that to someone as kind and loving as Taio was just sad, so when he found his happiness with Charlie I was more than happy
