REVIEW: PLAYING WITH SURRENDER is the third instalment in Erika Wilde’s contemporary, adult PLAYERS CLUB SINNER erotic, romantic suspense series. This is former US Marine turned security specialist Tate Holland, and twenty-six year old, fashion designer Stella Hayward’s story line. PLAYING WITH SURRENDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tate and Stella) PLAYING WITH SURRENDER follows the building but forbidden relationship between our story line couple. Stella Hayward is a fashion designer but her parents refuse to accept it for anything more than a hobby. Desperate to escape, Stella along with her friend Melissa visit an exclusive $ex club where Stella will meet her future in the guise of former US Marine Tate Holland. One ‘scene’ together, and Stella ghosted our hero, a man with whom she would come face to face when threats to her life become dangerous and dark. Stella is a target of revenge, and Tate Holland is a security specialist working for Noble and Associates Security firm. Knowing he should have recused himself, Tate becomes guardian and protector of the woman with whom he will fall in love.

The world building follows several pathways including the search for a stalker, someone threatening the life of our story line heroine. As Stella makes plans to set out on her own, an ‘angel investor’ comes to the rescue, someone who is willing to take more than a chance with our story line heroine.

The relationship between Stella and Tate begins as a one-night stand, of a sorts but Stella ghosted Tate after their club scene together, a scene neither of which would ever forget. Working as Stella’s security guard, brings our couple closer together but when Stella goes missing, Tate is determined to bring her back alive. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic , questionable and dynamic. We are introduced to Stella’s friend Melissa; Stella’s brother Charlie, and her parents Charles and Celeste’ best friend Oliver, as well as the return of Ford Perish, and Chase Noble.

PLAYING WITH SURRENDER is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is dramatic and intriguing; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and determined.
