Quinn met Chloe on a skydiving expedition, and immediately fell for our story line heroine but all is not well in Chloe’s life including a debilitating illness, and a manipulating twin sister, a sister that is about to destroy the growing love between our story line couple. What ensues is the building relationship between Chloe and Quinn, and the potential fall-out when the truth reveals several acts of betrayal against our story line couple.

The relationship between Chloe and Quinn is one of immediate attraction but Chloe is struggling with her health, and dealing with absentee parents who have basically left the twins in charge. We both start to sing the chorus, and then she breaks apart from me and takes the higher harmony.
It sounds how I imagined it would, and I want to keep going because it feels good being in here with her, so I motion for her to keep singing her part.
She does it flawlessly.
We hit the chorus again before it goes into my rap line. I get lost in the words. Music always has a way of distracting me. The chorus pops up again.
Ah-Ri joins in and starts to dance a bit next to me.
I smile and keep singing.
We do four more takes, all of them perfect yet slightly different. By the time we finish the last one, I have so much adrenaline pumping through my system that I could record all day.
She pulls off her headphones and holds up her hand.
I make a fist and punch it lightly.
Ah-Ri throws her head back and laughs. “I guess I deserved that.”
“You really did.” I smirk, then hold up my other hand. “One last chance?”
She sets her headphones on the stand, moves in front of me, and then slowly presses her palm against mine.
Instinct takes over. My fingers slide into hers. Her smile falters as she stares at our joined hands. “Looks like our palms like a seriously long kiss.”
“A lingering kiss,” I tease, licking my lips.
“Lingering, huh?” Her eyes focus on my mouth.
This is a bad idea, my brain screams. Do not fall for your bandmate, the very one you could hate later or have to see on tour every day. In the history of bad ideas, this would be the worst.
Slowly, I pull my hand away from hers.
It falls empty at my side.
It doesn’t hurt, but it doesn’t feel good, either.
It feels like she’s missing when she’s standing right in front of me.
She stares down at her hand, then over at mine before slowly grabbing it again and pressing a kiss to my palm.
Her lips burn a hole through my skin. They create a memory with zero effort, one I’ll never escape from unless someone chops off my hand.
“You guys alive in there?” Haneul’s voice comes through the sound system. I jerk away from Ah-Ri, look through the glass, and leave the booth.
It was a moment of temporary insanity, brought on by high emotions, close proximity, and touching.
No more high-fives.
No more palm kissing.
Am I a toddler or something?
I wipe my hands on my black sweats and casually run a hand through my hair as I walk toward Haneul. Jisoo is in the corner on her phone.
Haneul smirks like he caught me making out.
It was just our hands.

Told from dual first person (Ivy and Jack) and third person (Max) perspectives OFFICE DATE is an enemies to lovers story line in which Ivy and Jack, vying for the same position at Emory Enterprises, are paired together in a Hunger Games /Squid Games style competition. We are introduced to fellow competitors Jude and Stacey; Ivy’s ex Connor, as well as the ‘game master’ Max Emory and his assistant slash cousin Dustin.

OFFICE DATE is a fast paced, quick  and light read; a fun, flirty and quirky story. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is fated; the characters are colorful and charismatic.

This is heir to the throne, and Tex and Mo’s (Elicit) son King Campisi, and Del Buratti’s story line. BROKEN CROWN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from three first person perspectives (King, Del, Roman) BROKEN CROWN follows the building relationship and arranged marriage between Mafia heir King Campisi, and Del Buratti. The relationship between Del and King is that of a love triangle, as Roman is assigned bodyguard and protector of our story line heroine, the woman he loves. Watching and waiting, Roman will come to the conclusion that Del belongs at King’s side, a conclusion that offers Roman a new position within the Family. As King seduces the woman both he and Roman love, Del quickly discovers that her heart has always belonged to the man who would one day sit on the throne. The $ex scenes are aggressive and spirited but I felt little passion or warmth-it was more of a claiming and ownership.

There is a large and familiar secondary and supporting cast of colorful and energetic characters including all of the previous story line couples, and several Eagle Elite couples. In the wake of threats against his life and that of the life of the woman he loves, King is unable to trust anyone, even suspecting those closest to our couple, people he calls family and friends.

BROKEN CROWN is an emotional story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, death and destruction, sacrifice, tragedy and love. The character driven premise is captivating, gritty and sensitive; the romance is heart breaking and impassioned; the characters are broken and desperate yet taking control. Although this is the final instalment in the Mafia Royals series, the story line is left open ended with the possibility of another chapter in the lives and members of the Seven Families-hint hint-Roman needs to find his own HEA.

The relationship between Grace and Lucas begins acrimoniously. We are introduced to the members of the group, all with secrets that cannot be revealed. Each member has his own quirks and foibles, likes and dislikes, a different personality that is suppressed by management, and the people in charge. Here’s hoping the author has plans to write a story for each member of the group as other love interests and attractions are slowly revealed throughout the story.

MY SUMMER IN SEOUL is an emotional and heart breaking eye-opener into the unreality of a K-Pop star, established and in the making. The competition is brutal and fierce; the strict guidelines and regimen including relationships, food, public appearance and private lives is tightly controlled by the people in charge. Anybody wavering outside of the rules is questioned about loyalty and strength, and in this, Lucas will take the fall for something out of his control. Fans turns viscous and cruel, leaving Lucas on the precipice of ending it all.

REVIEW: FALLEN ROYAL is the fourth full-length instalment in Rachel Van Dyken’s contemporary, adult MAFIA ROYALS erotic, dark, Mafia romance series-a spin off/next generation from the author’s Eagle Elite series. This is twenty-one year olds, Maksim Sinacore, and Izzy Abandonato’s story line. FALLEN ROYAL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Izzy and Maksim) FALLEN ROYAL follows Maksim Sinacore as he spirals into darkness, pushing the woman he loves, his soulmate, out of his life. Months earlier Maksim, to prove his allegiance to Chase Abandonato and the ‘family’, and his worthiness of Izzy, was sent to do a job, a job that would initiate Maksim’s slide into darkness but with each ‘assignment’ Maksim would lose a little more of himself, leaving a shell of the man with whom Izzy had fallen in love. Not all was well in Maksim’s less than well ordered life, and his shift into darkness was becoming a threat to everyone he loved.

FALLEN ROYAL is an emotional, heart breaking and difficult story line as the reader is pulled into a tale of power and control, family and friendships, issues of mental health, love and understanding.From the outset the author and the characters, circumvent and dance around the reality of what is happening such that the back and forth, up and down of our leading hero is questionable on so many levels. We are up close and personal with Maksim’s descent into madness, a madness from which he may never return but for the love of a woman who slowly begins to understand the man with whom she has fallen in love.

On the flip side, there are a few ‘debatable’ and ‘problematic’ issues with what was happening and how it was handled but this is a story of fiction, and often, we have to suspend reality in an effort to enjoy and feel the story.
