He left her to save her. It didn’t work.

Rooster

I left her with a kiss and a lie.

Ten years ago, I made the woman I loved a promise. Then I broke it the only way that kept her alive—by disappearing without a word and praying the men hunting me would never know her name.

I told myself it was the right thing. That she’d move on, marry someone who could give her the life she deserved.

I was wrong.

She didn’t move on. She got taken.

And now she’s standing at my gate, a decade older and a lifetime harder, and she’d rather be anywhere else.

She doesn’t want my apology or my excuses. She wants a roof over her head until she can disappear, and for me to look her in the eyes and tell her why I left.

I’m going to do both.

But I’m not letting her disappear. Not this time. The men who took her are coming for her again, and the only thing standing between her and them is the man she has every right to hate.

I broke my last promise to her.

I’ll die before I break another one.

REVIEW:ROOSTER’S REMORSE is the fourth instalment in Elizabeth Knox’s contemporary, adult REAPER’S REJECTS MC: MEXICO-Second Generation erotic, MC, romance series, set in the author’s Reaper’s Rejects MC world. This is prospect Finn “Rooster’ Kincaid, and Camila ‘Mila’ Bacani’s story line. ROOSTER’S REMORSE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers .

Told from dual first person perspectives (Rooster and Mila) ROOSTER’S REMORSE follows in the wake of the escape and subsequent arrival of Camila ‘Mila’ Bacani. Ten years earlier, in the wake of his father’s connection to a criminal organization, Finn ‘Rooster’ Kincaid walked away from the woman he loved never knowing her whereabouts or what happened and why. Fast forward to present day, Mila has escaped from her captors of ten years, having spent a decade as a sexual slave, always hoping that one day she would be rescued by the man she once loved. Finn ‘Rooster’ Kincaid struggled with the knowledge of Mila’s past, placing the blame on his shoulders, and his need to run but Mila has arrived with an ultimatum, help her rescue the other women, or walk away and never see her again.

The world building focuses on the preparations for a rescue, a take down, and retribution for those who have come and gone. Rooster’s connection to the past forces our heroine to see beyond the truth, and in doing so, much come to terms with what happened and why.

The relationship between Rooster and Mila is one of second chances but a second chance that may be destroyed by secrets and lies. Rooster continues to struggle with his own family history, and the fall-out that destroyed the woman he once loved. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and determined secondary and supporting characters including the members of the Reaper’s Rejects MC, and the surviving women who need time to heal and thrive.

ROOSTER’S REMORSE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and remorse, power and control, family and relationships, loss and love. The fast paced premise is dark, dramatic and heart breaking; the romance is limited but impassioned; the characters are desperate, dynamic and tenacious but not everyone is happy with Mila’s demands.
