REVIEW:PROTECTING REBEL is the twenty-first instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult RED STONE SECURITY romantic suspense series. This is thirty-two year old, billionaire investor/app developer Weston Davis, and musician Rebel Martinez’ story line. PROTECTING REBEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from omniscient third person perspectives PROTECTING REBEL follows the rekindling relationship between Weston Davis and Rebel Martinez. Weston and Rebel were childhood friends but their future careers sent them in opposite directions. Weston joined the Marines then became a successful investor while Rebel’s music star rose around the world. Rebel’s return home to Miami is met with an increase of threats, and Weston is about to take control of the woman he has always loved. Rebel has a stalker so Weston hires the team at Red Stone Security when the threats against Rebel become dangerous and dark. What ensues is the best friends to lovers relationship between Rebel and Weston, and the potential fall-out when threats against Rebel hit too close to home.

The relationship between Rebel and Weston is one of second chances, of a sort. Rebel and Weston were childhood friends but Rebel’s home life was questionable at best, and when Weston joined the Marines, Rebel went to live with the woman who had raised the man that she loved. Having always kept in contact, Rebel was surprised to discover just how often Weston kept track of her life, a life that was about to a little more complicated. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of Rebel’s entourage and team, singers and roadies, assistants and agents, as well as a guest appearance from a couple of RSS agents.

PROTECTING REBEL is a story of jealousy and obsession, friendships and relationships, second chances and love. The character driven premise is intriguing and entertaining but there is only an outside /tentative connection to the Red Stone Security characters ; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are energetic and dynamic.

This is twenty-six year old nurse Lana Florakis, and Black Ops Agent Teague Monroe ’s story line. DANGER RISING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from third person perspective DANGER RISING follows a determined Lana Florakis as she makes good a promise she made to herself. Several months earlier Lana’s world imploded when her mother was murdered, a precious family heirloom was stolen, and her boyfriend was killed while on a secret assignment. Fast forward to present day wherein Lana sets into motion a plan to take back everything she lost by using all of her training as a professional thief. Having spend years with her mother working the con, Lana was seeking revenge against the man she believed took her mother’s life but Lana will come face to face with her past, a past she long thought buried and gone. DEADLY PROTECTOR is a story of obsession and vengeance, betrayal and greed, family, friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are captivating, determined and strong willed.

SAVING DANGER is a fast paced, suspenseful and intriguing story line. The premise is edgy ; the characters are strong, flirty and spirited; the romance is seductive-the sexual tension is palpable.

Using the back stairs, she headed toward one of the rear doors and made her way out into the sunlight. She had a couple more stops to make but… She pulled her phone out as she headed toward the nearby sidewalk.

There was one person she wanted to call even though she knew she shouldn’t.

Nash Harris.

One of her brother’s best friends, the man who starred in all of her fantasies, and hell, was one of her best friends, if she was being honest. She might not be telling her family that she was in town, but she would tell him. It would feel wrong not to. And if she was being honest, she wanted to see him. Craved it, even.

Not that she didn’t have the sharp planes of his face memorized or dream about how kissable his lips looked—or fantasize about running her fingers through his dark brown hair. The man always kept it so short and it looked so damn soft. Aaaand she was getting off track.

Maybe she’d just have one dinner with him. Get a glimpse of his fine ass and get her fix until the next time they got to meet up. It wasn’t enough but it would have to do for now.

Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Lyosha was first introduced in book thirteen Love Thy Enemy-Lyosha works security for Viktor Ivanov.

Told from several third person perspectives including Mila and Lyosha SECRET ENEMY follows the friends to lovers relationship between RSS new hiree Mila, and Russian security specialist Lyosha Vasiliev. Mila and Lyosha have been dancing around one another for close to six months but Mila’s recent run in with her roommate’s boyfriend finds Lyosha in alpha-protector mode but our hero believes himself unworthy of Mila’s love, and in this continues to push away the woman he wants. When a former enemy returns, eyeing Mila as the ultimate prize, Lyosha knows that his lifestyle now threatens our story line heroine, and there is no turning back when she is targeted for Lyosha’s sins of the past. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Lyosha and Mila, and the potential fall-out as Mila finds herself the target of two men, one of whom set his sights on the man with whom she will fall in love.

The relationship between Lyosha and Mila is a friends to lovers, immediate attraction wherein Lyosha refuses to cross the line into something more. Believing himself unworthy, Lyosha intends to keep his distance but threats against Mila continue to pull our couple into one another’s orbits. Meanwhile, Mila struggles with some issues of self-esteem, believing she is beneath the people for which Lyosha is friends. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Viktor and his wife Dominique (Love Thy Enemy); Dominque’s sister in law Lucy as well as Mila’s sisters Angel, Clarita and Zamira, their mother, and RSS agent Juan- there is definitely something developing between Angel and Juan. The requisite evil has many faces.

SECRET ENEMY is a story of vengeance and retribution, family and relationships, opportunity and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the characters are spirited; the romance is seductive and exciting. SECRET ENEMY is another wonderful addition to Katie Reus’ Red Stone Security family.
