ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 13, 2021

Tessa Bailey is back with a Schitt’s Creek-inspired rom-com about a Hollywood “It Girl” who is cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town… where she butts heads with a surly, sexy local who thinks she doesn’t belong.

Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father’s dive bar… in Washington.

Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can’t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.

Except it’s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there’s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn’t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan—and this town full of memories—may have already caught her heart.

REVIEW:IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER is the first instalment Tessa Bailey’s contemporary, adult IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER erotic, romance series. This is twenty-eight year old, Hollywood ‘It Girl’ Piper Bellinger, and fisherman Captain Brendan Taggart’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Brendan and Piper) IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER follows in the aftermath of Piper’s arrest for breaking and entering, and throwing a wild party where she didn’t belong. Piper is a ‘social media influencer’ whose life has been spiralling out of control. As punishment and to teach our heroine a lesson, her step-father Daniel reveals that her late father Henry Cross left her sister Hannah and Piper a bar in Westport, Washington, a small sea side town where Piper and Hannah, for the next three months, will learn to call home. Enter fisherman and widower Captain Brendan Taggart, and the man with whom Piper will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Piper and Brendan, and the potential fall-out as Piper’s time in Westport comes to an end.

Piper Bellinger is nothing but a social media influencer; a party girl with no education or plans for the future, and in this, she struggles with the minimal daily tasks such as laundry and cooking. Sent to Westport, Washington, Piper and Hannah have three months to turn their lives around, three months wherein Piper will fall in love, and Hannah begins to reconsider her own future back in LA. Piper had never considered calling Westport her home, and had plans to return to LA when her ‘sentence’ was over but fixing up her late father’s bar, and falling in love with our story line hero, gave Piper pause for the future, a future she had never stopped to considered. Brendan Taggart is a Westport townie, having grown up living and working on the sea. Widowed seven years earlier, Brendan had yet to move on but meeting Piper Bellinger gave Brendan hopes for a new future, a future involving our story line heroine.

The relationship between Piper Brendan begins acrimoniously as Brendan is unable to see beyond the trash and flash of our story line heroine but something about Piper stirs our story line hero, and Brendan is the first to fall for the woman who is beginning to make herself at home. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

We are introduced to a number of the local Westport citizens including Brendan’s friend Fox; his former father in law Mick Forrester; Piper and Hannah’s grandmother Opal Cross; Abe; Piper and Hannah’s step-father Daniel; Piper’s ex Adrian, and her LA friend Kirby.

IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER is inspired by the antics of Alexa on ‘Schitt’s Creek’, another social media influencer whose life experiences had never prepared her for the real world. The premise is entertaining and lively; the characters are spirited and sassy; the romance is provocative and energetic. Hannah’s story is next.

That turned out to be a vast understatement—and nothing has changed.

REVIEW:THIS TIME TOMORROW is the second instalment in Tessa Bailey’s contemporary, adult PHENOMENAL FATE erotic, paranormal romance series. This is former SWAT team member Elias, and Russian, vampire slayer Roksana. THIS TIME TOMORROW can be read as a stand alone with limited difficulty. Any important information is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion. Elias and Roksana were first introduced in Jonas and Ginny’s book -Reborn Yesterday.

NOTE: If you have not read the previous instalment, there may be some spoilers in my review.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Roksana and Elias) using present day and memories from the past THIS TIME TOMORROW focuses on the enemies to lovers relationship between former SWAT team member Elias, and Russian, vampire slayer Roksana. Three years earlier, Roksana and her friends arrived in Las Vegas to celebrate the impending nuptials between her BFF Ginny Lynn, and vampire Jonas Cantrell but what no one knew was that our heroine Roksana came from a long line of vampire slayers, and Roksana refused to act on her family heritage. Meeting US SWAT team member and human Elias meant the possibility of one-night of freedom but to Roksana’s horror, Elias would turn on her friends, destroying them all. Fast forward to present day wherein, Elias, now a vampire working for King Jonas Cantrell, has been targeted for termination by Inessa, the Queen of Shadows vampire slayer using our heroine as the means to exact her revenge. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and forbidden relationship between Roksana and Elias, and the fall-out as Roksana learns the truth, and refuses to obey her mother’s commands.

Roksana knows she is the bane of her mother’s existence; a failure as a slayer whose heart is too soft when it comes to destroying the bloodsucking undead but to Roksana’s horror, our heroine is the ultimate target of her mother’s hatred, and in doing so destroys everything and everyone Roksana has loved. Three years earlier, Elias and his best friend Tucker, awoke to a new life of darkness, drinking blood and a desire to kill. Believing himself a cold-blooded killer, Elias is willing to offer up his life to protect the woman with whom he would fall in love.

The relationship between Elias and Roksana is fated by blood. What began as a case of infatuation and lust would soon turn into a case of fated mates wherein Elias’ need to claim Roksana supersedes his need to protect himself. Knowing his secrets could destroy the woman he loves, Elias is willing to risk it all including sacrificing himself to protect Roksana from the one person who should be protecting our heroine, herself. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Ginny Lynn and her husband, king of the vampire Jonas Cantrell; Elias’ former SWAT teammate Tucker; Roksana’s mother, Iness, the Queen of Shadows, as well as the introduction of another supernatural power-the Fae-and the potential for Tucker to have found his mate.

THIS TIME TOMORROW is a story of betrayal and revenge, secrets and lies; family, friendships, power and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are colorful, energetic and charismatic.

“Beers on me later,” Elias muttered, keeping his attention on the cards. “You can ask me whatever you want…”

He trailed off, that scrape between his shoulder blades growing more pronounced, until he couldn’t concentrate enough to decipher the suits of his cards. What the hell was going on? Throat dry, he laid down his hand and turned in his chair—

Silence fell around him when he saw her.

She was golden. Radiant.

Miserable.

The long-legged blonde limped through the casino with a beautiful pout on her face, a pair of high heels shoved under one arm. There was a fine sheen of dew on her incredible face, telling Elias she’d just escaped the stifling Vegas heat. Simply by existing, she commanded fealty and the casino seemed to part around her like the Red Sea, creating a path for her to complete a wobbly strut toward Elias’s poker table—and the closer she came, the more his lungs compressed, as if he was running out of fucking oxygen.

Who is she?

No idea. But the discomfort between his shoulder blades was gone.

Like a balm had been applied.

The girl was beyond gorgeous. He’d never noticed cheekbones on anyone in his life, but he noticed her high ones. The indigo blue of her eyes. And Jesus, he definitely noticed the way her soft mutterings made his heart flop over. Who are you?

Vaguely, he heard Latte ribbing him. “Bet you’d call her back, huh, Silent E?”

“Forget what I said about him being mysterious,” Kenny quipped. “Everything he’s thinking is right there on his face.”

More laughter. But the buzzing in his skull was already drowning them out.

Elias watched the blonde’s high heel fall out of her arms and flop sideways on the casino floor. He was on his feet before it stopped moving, abandoning his hand at the table without a thought so he could scoop up the shoe and follow. He didn’t have a choice in the matter. Going after her was a requirement, searing him, compelling him.

And a moment later, when she looked up at him from her seat at a slot machine, his world righted itself with a grinding snap. He hadn’t even known it was off kilter.

The blonde crossed her impossibly sexy legs and his body reacted swiftly, hardening.

“Well?” she said in a husky Russian accent. “Make it good. I only have five minutes before I wreak the havoc.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 14, 2020

Rosie and Dominic Vega are the perfect couple: high school sweethearts, best friends, madly in love. Well, they used to be anyway. Now Rosie’s lucky to get a caveman grunt from the ex-soldier every time she walks in the door. Dom is faithful and a great provider, but the man she fell in love with ten years ago is nowhere to be found. When her girlfriends encourage Rosie to demand more out of life and pursue her dream of opening a restaurant, she decides to demand more out of love, too. Three words: marriage boot camp.

Never in a million years did Rosie believe her stoic, too-manly-to-emote husband would actually agree to relationship rehab with a weed-smoking hippy. Dom talking about feelings? Sitting on pillows? Communing with nature? Learning love languages? Nope. But to her surprise, he’s all in, and it forces her to admit her own role in their cracked foundation. As they complete one ridiculous—yet surprisingly helpful—assignment after another, their remodeled relationship gets stronger than ever. Except just as they’re getting back on track, Rosie discovers Dom has a secret… and it could demolish everything.

••••••••••

REVIEW: LOVE HER OR LOSE HER is the second instalment in Tessa Bailey’s contemporary, adult HOT AND HAMMERED erotic, romance series. This is Dominic and Rosie Vega’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Rosie and Dominic) LOVE HER OR LOSE HER follows the crumbling relationship between married couple Rosie and Dominic Vega. Rosie has had enough and finally decides that she no longer loves the man her husband has become since his return from active duty, but Dominic isn’t going down without a fight. When his wife suggests ‘extreme’ couple’s counselling, Dominic jumps at the chance to make everything right, a jump that finds him relearning to seduce the woman he already loves. What ensues is rebuilding romance and relationship between Dominic and Rosie, and the potential fall-out when Dominic finally reveals a secret he has kept for close to a year.

Rosie Vega has always wanted to open her own restaurant, and with the help of her friends and a GoFundMe page, Rosie sets out to make her dream come true. Dominic will do anything to put his marriage back together including following the instructions set out by their eccentric counsellor but when Dominic discovers that Rosie is going ahead with her plans for a restaurant, Dominic takes matters into his own hands thereby revealing a secret he has kept from the woman he loves. Herein lies a bit of a conundrum for me: yes, Dominic has a secret; he should have included his wife in his decision but to I did not believe that his actions warranted Rosie’s response.

The relationship between Rosie and Dominic has become stagnant and static. Dominic is over-protective of Rosie, but our heroine is oblivious to the extent to which her husband will go. The only thing our couple have in common is their fantastic sex life but there is more to marriage and relationships than amazing sex. The fact that Dominic was willing to give therapy a chance meant our hero was willing to step up to make things better. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Travis and Georgie; Stephen and Kristin, Bethany, and newcomer Wes Daniels. There may be something developing between Bethany and Wes.

LOVE HER OR LOSE HER is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the relationship struggles in the face of their deteriorating marriage; the characters are dynamic and captivating but I want to address the blurb that states Love Her or Lose Her is a romantic comedy because, IMO, there was very little humor or comedic text. I guess one person’s comedy is another person’s tragedy.

Step one: end her fling with commitment-phobic Charlie. Step two: sacrifice herself to the ruthless NYC dating scene. Yet everywhere she turns, there’s Charlie, being his ridiculously charming self. No online match or blind date compares to the criminally hot cop-in-training, but they’re over. Aren’t they?

If love is a four-letter-word, why does the idea of Ever seeing someone else tie Charlie up in knots? Now he’s desperate to win her back…and a little date sabotage never hurt anyone, right?

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: DISORDERLY CONDUCT is the first installment in Tessa Bailey’s contemporary, adult THE ACADEMY erotic, romance series focusing on a group of three New York police academy cadets (Charlie Burns, Jack Garrett, Danika Silva). This is twenty three year old cadet Charlie Burns, and twenty two year old caterer Ever Carmichael’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlie and Ever) DISORDERLY CONDUCT focuses on the reluctant relationship between police cadet Charlie Burns, and caterer Ever Carmichael. Ever doesn’t do relationships-thirty days, no more, no less- and the men in her life are nothing more than a distant memory. Her grandmother’s ‘Mistress Manifesto’, a guideline for all of the Carmichael women demands all women to remain independent, never let the arrangement last past one month, and choose only unavailable men, keeping Ever from ever prescribing to a happily ever after with anyone. Meeting Charlie Burns has our heroine throwing caution to the wind until the moment she realizes that Charlie is a man, like herself, who doesn’t want anything beyond the present. What ensues is the building love between Charlie and Ever, and the fall out when Ever realizes that she wants something more than Charlie is willing or able to give.

Charlie Burns believes that he must sacrifice his own happiness for the ‘job’. Growing up in a family of men married to their jobs Charlie knows that being a police officer means the family comes second, and anyone left behind becomes collateral damage, and for this reason Charlie is unwilling to take a chance on love or anything more than a one-night stand. Ever Carmichael watched her mother’s life implode, going from one man to another, never longer than the designated thirty day, and our heroine is determined to live out her life, on her mother’s terms, one man at a time.

The relationship between Ever and Charlie is one of immediate attraction; a no-strings attached relationship that finds our couple seeking something different when the expiry date of their affair begins to trickle down. The attraction to one another is palpable; their numerous separations are heartbreaking and painful. Charlie’s need for Ever is overshadowed by his inability to commit to something more but saying that his questionable behavior and obsession with our story line heroine is cringe-worthy and disturbing in light of his upcoming future on the police force. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and seductive.

We are introduced to Charlie’s best friends, roommates and fellow police academy cadets: Jack Garrett, who struggles with his need for alcohol; Danika Silva, a woman who has caught the eye of the police academy instructor Greer Burns; police chief Xavier Burns; Ever’s roommate and business partner Nina ; as well as Ever’s mother who slowly begins to understand the potentially damaging advice long adhered to by the Carmichael female line. Jack and Katie’s story line is next in INDECENT EXPOSURE.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT is a story of mistaken beliefs; of one man’s determination to sacrifice love and family for a successful career; and one woman’s need to follow in her mother’s footsteps, however ill-conceived and emotionally barren. The premise is energetic; the characters are passionate and sassy ; the romance is provocative and heartbreaking.
