Told from dual first person perspectives (Fitz and Jennifer) THE TROUBLE WITH FLINGS follows in the wake of a second chance relationship between our story line couple. Jennifer Stone and Fitz Silver met months before but a recent trip to Costa Rica finds our couple reconnecting for a week that will change their lives. Three months later, Jennifer will discover she is pregnant, and in the ensuing months Fitz is determined to seduce our heroine into their own happily ever after but Jennifer struggles with the demons from her past, and battles between head and heart for a future with the man with whom she is falling in love.
The world building focuses on family and friendships. The large extended and interconnected families and friends play a significant role in our couple’s lives, roles that reveal family history and personal betrayal.
The relationship between Fitz and Jennifer is one of second chances, of a sort. Jennifer has been burned in the past, and refuses to allow herself to be vulnerable to any man. Fitz has fallen for the woman that calls to his heart, a woman who is now carrying the child he has always wanted. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top,sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, as per Melissa Foster’s style of writing and story line structure, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and determined secondary and supporting characters including parents, siblings nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.
