Told from dual first person perspectives (Sam and Penny) WHISKEY, WORDS AND WHISPERS follows the temporary return of home-town girl Penny Pritchard, a DC Lobbyist whose aunt suffered a fall, and our heroine is taking some time to help her recover but Penny never expected to come face to face with Sam Pete Rochelle, Whynot, North Carolina’s sexy bartender, a bartender with a secret . Whynot is a small religious town of self-righteous citizens, and right leaning politics, and when Sam’s career as a romance author is revealed, several members of the town are determined to ban Sam’s books, along with his many others. Working alongside Sam, Penny finds herself falling for our story line hero, a man whose secrets are about to be revealed nationwide.
The world building follows not only the building romance and relationship but the battle to remain viable in a world of millions . Sam and his books are about to go viral, and his growing love for Penny may become a victim of politics and fame.
The relationship between Sam and Penny is a friends to lovers; a quick building romance in which Sam is hoping for something more but Penny’s time in Whynot is coming to a close. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and seductive.
We are introduced to several townsfolk of Whynot, North Carolina-some with overzealous religious beliefs, while others are hoping to survive a town potentially caught in the past: Eli Hart, hardware store owner Floyd Barbour, bar owner Pap, and Sam’s agent Derek.
WHISKEY, WORDS AND WHISPERS is a fast paced, quick read focusing on secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is captivating and entertaining; the romance is impassioned; the characters are determined and charismatic.
