REVIEW:THE UPGRADE is the first instalment in Tawna Fenske’s contemporary, adult JILTED BRIDE HONEYMOON CLUB erotic, romance series. This is PR director Eve Goodrich, and research psychiatrist Dr. Christopher ‘Kit’ Plier.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Eve and Kit) THE UPGRADE follows in the wake of Eve’s fiance’s betrayal, leaving her with a paid honeymoon and not much more but the rebate on the trip insurance offers an exclusive club for jilted brides, where all of their fantasies can come true. When her best friend Camille’s brother Dr. Christopher Plier needs a plus one in the wake of his own heart breaking rejection, a one night stand ensues with Christopher hoping for something more. In the ensuing days to weeks, Eve books her trip to Chystal Bliss Retreat where her ‘escort’ is none other than her one-night stand. Kit is doing research, working as a ‘sex worker’ at the exclusive resort, a sex worker who is about to fall for his forbidden fruit.

The world building focuses on the highly sexual nature and attitudes of everyone involved. From same sex to threesomes, kink and exploration, virtually nothing is off limits, as Eve is willing to experience everything Kit has to offer.

The relationship between Kit and Eve begins as a best friend’s brother, fake dating, forbidden affair in the wake of keeping secret their growing attraction. Kit’s sister Camille struggles with her best friend dating her brother but the heart wants something it never expected. The $ex scenes are erotic and provocative.

We are introduced to Kit’s sisters: Therapist Camille Plier, and Sara, as well as Eve’s business partner Nina Stone-Cline (Honey Do-Sugar and Spice 3).

THE UPGRADE is a story of erotica, sexual fantasies, secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The premise is edgy and riveting ; the romance is liberating, spicy, startling, and inventive but I felt some of the scenes were sexually gratuitous; the characters are sassy, determined and charismatic.
