Brick

I never expected a chance reunion with my old friend, Declan, who is now with the RBMC, to result in my club, the Roanoke Raiders MC, to patch over, but it’s happening. When I get a cryptic message that I need to find someone, I find out that this new brotherhood my club has entered more than has my back. As secrets emerge, we find ourselves enmeshed in an issue that permeates the country. The question is, will we succeed or fail?

Rayleigh

My whole life has been one long, continuous nightmare. When I’m tossed out like trash and left for dead, I make peace with the fact that I’ll never know what it’s like to be loved. Waking up, I find myself surrounded by men in leather. Men who assure me that they’ll protect me and keep me safe, something I’ve never known.

REVIEW: BRICK’S HOUSE is the first instalment in Darlene Tallman’s contemporary, adult RBMC: ROANOKE, VA dark, erotic, MC , slightly paranormal romance series-a part of the multi-authored RBMC series. This is RBMC Roanoke president Brick, and Raeleigh Matthews’ story line. BRICK’S HOUSE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the multi-authored series is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Brick and Raeleigh) BRICK’S HOUSE follows in the wake of the search and rescue of an abused and battered young woman. Just hours before the Roanoke Raiders were to be patched in as full-fledged members of the Royal B*stards MC, RBMC member Voodoo got a call from his grandmother, Madam Laveaux, a woman with powers no one has questioned. A young woman, believed to be Brick’s future ol’ lady lay injured and dying, and the RBMC must track down our heroine before it’s too late. Enter Raeleigh Matthews, and the woman with whom Brick will fall in love. Raeleigh has been used and abused most of her life, and she has been left in the snow, with the hopes she would die. Her rescue comes with the reality of a somewhat normal life, a life spent with the members of the RBMC, a crew of men who are determined to exact revenge for horrendous life our heroine has suffered. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Brick and Raeleigh, as Raeleigh must navigate a world she knows nothing about.

Raeleigh Matthews knows very little about her life including the smallest nuances like birthdate and age. Never having celebrated a holiday or spent time with anyone else, Raeleigh must recover her independence under the watchful eye of the RBMC. There are currently no ol’ ladies for the members of the RBMC Roanoke but Brick is about to come face to face with his future, a future he always wanted but never expected to see.

The relationship between Brick and Raeleigh begins as a rescue and recovery. Raeleigh is in no condition to start a relationship, and in this, Brick is about to set her up with life experiences including a job and a place of her own. Wanting the woman who calls to his heart, Brick quickly realizes that it is time to pull Raeleigh into his life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate. without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters from two converging RBMC. We are introduced to Brick’s ‘brothers’: Rooster, Banshee, Hawg, Scythe, Kracken, and Road Captain Arrow. The requisite evil has many faces.

BRICK’S HOUSE is a dark, gritty and emotional story line of abuse and neglect, murder and punishment, acceptance, understanding and love. The premise is heart breaking but hopeful; the romance is impassioned; the characters are charismatic, broken but struggling to heal. BRICK’S HOUSE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
