PRIMAL POSSESSION (Moon Shifter #2) by Katie Reus

PRIMAL POSSESSION is the second full-length novel in Katie Reus’s Moon Shifter series. When a group calling themself the Antiparanormal League begin targeting shifters as well as humans they associate with, no one is safe.  With the revelation of shifter existence, the attacks against the Packs have increased to where entire populations are at risk.

28 years old former teacher and now bookstore owner December McIntyre was targeted by the Antiparanormal League for her association with Lupine shifter and second-in-command of the Armstrong-Cordona pack Liam Armstrong.  Although no personal fault of Liam’s, knowing she was his mate, made it that much more unbearable to know that December was refusing his offer of protection along with his heart.

As an enforcer for the North American Council of Lupine shifters Jayce Kazan has business with the Armstrong-Cordona Pack alpha Connor Armstrong but knowing the woman who was supposed to be his mate was nearby dissolved all good sense.  Kat Saburova was December’s best friend, estranged daughter of Dimiitri Saburova (crime lord) and his mate.  But when she walked out on him months before, she took his heart with her when he refused to bond. Finding out that Kat had been targeted by the APL only reinforced Jayce’s guilt about his association with and the danger it placed on Kat. But another group of supernaturals had been targeted and Liam and Jayce would fall prey to an attack.

Parker McIntyre was Fontana’s Sheriff and December’s brother, but Parker was all about his sister’s safety.  But Parker’s dislike for the shifters became apparent when he threatened to cut December out of his life if she mated with Liam Armstrong. But the guilt of knowing the real reason as to why Parker was so angry, weighed heavily upon both of their minds.

The APL was on the move.  Following a couple of attacks against Liam, December would find herself bound and gagged in her own house. Rescued, December would temporarily move into the shifter ranch, but once there, her hormones take over with a surprising jolt. And Parker’s reaction to her sudden move would place a strain on the siblings.  But a shooting would put everything into perspective when Kat is abducted. And Liam knew, that to save December, he would have to turn away from his mate.

PRIMAL POSSESSION is another exciting storyline in Katie Reus’s Moon Shifter series. A look at pack life and its’ tenuous relationship with humans, the Armstrong- Cordona pack will find themselves another ally in the supernatural world, and a new threat from a fabled race. Katie’s storyline blends naturally with the character development, and there is rarely a moment to breathe between scenes.

Thanks so much to Sandy for letting me hang out here today!

Reading is what I do during my downtime and I love listening to music while reading, cooking, or whatever. It has the power to change my mood, which is often a good thing. I know a lot of writers who can listen to music and write at the same time, but I’m not that talented. I get way too distracted! However, in the mornings I usually go walking and I always bring my iPod along. Half the time I’ll listen to an audible book but the other half, I like to relax and listen to music. On my current playlist you’ll find artists such as Foster the People, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Fitz and the Tantrums, Macy Gray, Breaking Benjamin, Johnny Cash, Pink…and I could go on forever. I like to have a mix of everything, but when walking I usually keep it upbeat until that final stretch where I’m warming down.

Music, just like reading and books, is so subjective—which is a wonderful thing. What one person might consider the hottest song ever might be like fingernails on a chalkboard to someone else. I have a few songs that are guaranteed to put me in a happier mood if I need it, and pretty much anything by Pink gets me excited about working out. And I usually need that extra motivation!

What about you? What song when you hear it makes you want to dance? Or puts you in a better mood? Or, who is one of your favorite musical artists? One reader who comments on the blog today will be randomly selected to win a print copy of Primal Possession (US eligible only). Good luck and thanks so much for stopping by!

About Primal Possession To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…

As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

  1. Wonderful review, Sandy. I have not read the first book yet, it is on my tbr kindle. Now I have to buy this.

Welcome back Katie, enjoyed your guest post. I love some of what you like, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga (not all), Pink, No Doubt & Gwen. I also agree, if I am trying to concentrate, I can’t have the music on, it does distract me. But I read many authors love to have the music in the background when they write.

  2. This book sounds so good, I can’t wait to read it. Great interview and thanks for the chance to win. I don’t dance like I used to, but the song that always seems to make me move is Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard! Don’t know why!!!

  3. I’m reading Alpha Instinct now so I had to skip past the description to prevent spoilers! I am loving this series so far! The song I want to dance to when I hear it is Sugarland’s Stuck Like Glue. I’m not a country fan per se, but that song is just so bouncy and happy, it’s hard to keep still. Thank you so much for the awesome post and the chance to win!

  4. Welcome back Katie!! I think your books sound incredible!! I love my music too, but mostly while I am driving to relieve some stress!! Having you drop by reminded me of your series. It’s a must read!!

  5. Hi Katie, glad to see you back . Its true music can change your mood, and even make your day alot better. When I hear music i enjoy what I’m doing, even if I am working. Hope you’ll be back soon, and have more good reads.

  6. Hi Katie thanks for the interview and great review Sandy. Your shifters sound great will get you on my to try list. That list is getting so long. Can hear music that well anymore but loved anything by Santana. LOL

  7. Welcome back, Ms. Reus! I enjoyed your first visit immensely.
Lupine shifters are usually not my cup of tea, sorry, I can already hear the Boo’s, but there’s no denying your answers, everyone’s praise, makes me super interested. I will put on some Kings of Leon, always puts me in a great mood, and try your Moon Shifter series. 😉

  8. Welcome back Katie and great review Sandy. Katie this book sounds great, and I do love me some shifter stories. I’ll be adding this one to my list for sure.
I have to say I enjoy the same types of music you do. However, for me there’s nothing like Bon Jovi to get the blood pumping and make me forget about everything else but the music. Just love me some Bon Jovi, my fav music to work out too. I’m the type who always needs music on no matter what I’m doing, even if its just instrumental in the background so it’s not too quiet. Thanks for dropping by again Katie.

  9. I can’t think of any upbeat songs right now, but there are certain songs that just make me want to move, I’ll be dancing in my chair while listening. 😀 Some of the artists that I enjoy are Pearl Jam, John Mayer, Matchbox Twenty, Chevelle and Duffy.

  10. Great review Sandy! And thank you so much Katie for stopping by! I love the premise of your books and soooo look forward to reading them.

As far as my “get pepped up” song, it is definitely Sandman by Metallica!! Not necissarily for the words, but, is there a better guitar riff known to man?? LOL!! I think not!! 😉

  11. The story line sounds really good. To bond or not to bond? What do you do to protect your mate? I always find humor that even though we deal with other species in the PNR world they still have they’re own dysfunction. TBR list.
