Description:
Stranded in England without money or a ticket home, Mercy Starling takes a job working for a medieval reenactment company. After all, who wouldn’t want to pretend to live in the past, wield swords and long bows, and dress up in armor? And the best part of her summer job is Bestwood Hall…or rather, its intriguing new owner.

The painfully shy Alden Ainslie is overwhelmed by the medieval reenactors who invade the Tudor house he’s renovating, but he’s drawn to the bubbly Mercy. And he valiantly joins in the fun, dodging not just arrows, lances, and the odd sword thrust, but also some pretty suspicious—and potentially deadly—attacks on himself. Someone wants him to give up on the house. But Alden is desperate to prove himself—and win the heart of his lady fair…

Review:

Daring in a Blue Dress by Katie MacAlister is the 3rd book in her Matchmaker in Wonderland series.  I did not read the first two books in this series, but this did read well as a standalone.  Daring in a Blue Dress belongs to Alden Ainslie, the shy brother.  Alden does his best to avoid his match maker sister in law, who is trying to set him up with a woman in hopes of marring him off.

Alden decides to purchase a rundown mansion, Bestwood Hall, in order to have his own home and escape his family insisting he needs to find a wife.  Alden finds the Tudor home in worse shape than he thought, and he is also left with the former elderly lady of the house, who refuses to leave.  To Alden’s dismay while he begins to renovate, he finds that he is stuck with a group of medieval reenacters contracted previously to use his land for their fair, which includes swords and arrows.  Enter Mercy Starling, our heroine, who arrives at Bestwood Hall to work for the Medieval group.  Mercy needed a job to make some money to enable her to get back home.   Of course, she won’t be going anywhere.

Alden, who is painfully shy around woman, unable to even speak properly, finds himself immediately attracted to the outgoing bubbly uninhibited Mercy.  Mercy goes out of her way to help Alden overcome his shyness, and at the same time, she finds him so attractive, that she is the one who will begin the seduction.  What follows is a cute, funny sexy story of two people who can’t seem to keep their hands off each other.

In between their sexual escapades, someone is trying to kill Alden and the mystery is part of this story, which will have them both trying to find out who (I figured it out early) and why.  This was a good story, though at times I thought the sexual banter was a bit risqué, though funny; at timesa bit too much.  Overall, this was a fun read, with some suspense, and a great couple.  I suggest you start with the first book in this series, in order to know this family better.
