REVIEW:GOLD LUST is the third full-length instalment in Aleatha Romig’s contemporary, adult SIN erotic, romantic suspense series. This is the continuing story of forty-one year old, billionaire businessman Donavan Sherman, and twenty-four year old, pharmaceutical heiress Julia McGrath. GOLD LUST should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book three GREEN ENVY.

NOTE: There is a prequel novella -WHITE RIBBON -that was first released as part of the I HAVE LIVED, AND I HAVE LOVED anthology. Depending upon your copy of book one RED SIN, it may or may not contain the introductory story line. If you have not read books one and two, there may be spoilers in my review.

SOME BACKGROUND: Weeks before her wedding to childhood friend Skylar Butler, Julia would discover a double betrayal from her fiance and her best friend. Leaving Chicago, and heading to the deep country of Wisconsin, Julia embarked on the next phase of her life, a life that included Donavan Sherman.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Donavan and Julia) using present day and memories from the past GOLD LUST picks up immediately after the events of GREEN ENVY in which Julia goes missing, and Donavan Sherman knows exactly whom the perpetrator could be. With her parents pharmaceutical company on the verge of bankruptcy, Julia is the potential glue that holds everything together but ongoing betrayal continues to pull Julia our of their lives. Back in the arms of the man that she loves, Julia, and Donavan, begin preparations for their own intimate wedding ceremony, but ghosts from the past have proven harder to shake than anyone could have imagined. What ensues is the ongoing romance and relationship between Julia and Donavan, and the potential fall-out as betrayal and vengeance continue to upend any and all plans for our story line couple.

GOLD LUST is a detailed and revealing story line of family, deception, obsession and greed.The author reveals some of the events that are the foundation for Donavan’s success, his preoccupation with the past, and his love and infatuation for our story line heroine. Julia McGrath is a woman caught in the turmoil of dysfunctional family dynamics, a pawn to be used to secure and regain power and control.
