REVIEW:WHEN HE’S BAD is the second instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult ADRIAN’S romantic suspense trilogy -a part of the author’s Walker Security Series. This is the continuing story of former undercover FBI Agent and Walker Security specialist Adrian Mack aka Ramos and ADA Priscilla Miller. WHEN HE’S BAD should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one WHEN HE’S DIRTY. Several characters cross-over from the author’s other Walker Security series.
NOTE: If you have not read book on in Adrian’s Trilogy, there may be spoilers in my review.
SOME BACKGROUND: In the weeks prior to the testifying against the Texas Kings biker club, a club in which he was undercover for close to two years, former undercover FBI Agent Adrian Mack comes out of hiding, and focuses on protecting ADA Priscilla Miller. Assistant District Attorney Priscilla Miller has been assigned the case against Nick Waters aka The King Devil but with the witnesses and people who will be testifying dying or disappearing, Adrian Mack is the remaining credible witness, a witness who is the target of more than one assassination attempt.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Adrian and Priscilla) WHEN HE’S BAD picks immediately in the aftermath of an attempt to take down Adrian and Priscilla, and the possible murder of an FBI agent. On the run, Adrian and Priscilla call in reinforcements from Walker Security only to discover that Adrian is wanted on murder charges, and Priscilla finds herself unable to trust the people she loves, or anyone who works in the DA’s office. As Priscilla struggles to contact the people in charge, Walker Security begin to unravel a close connection between law enforcement, the DA’s office, family, friends, and the Texas Kings MC. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Priscilla and Adrian, as our couple must come to a decision regarding moving forward, testifying, and taking a stand against corruption.
Once again, WHEN HE’S DIRTY has a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Blake Walker from Walker Security; Rick Savage (The Savage Trilogy); a well as Walker Security agents and former members of SEAL Team six- Lucas ‘Lucifer’ Remington, Adam, Mason; District Attorney Ed Melbourn, ADAs Cindy, Grace; Priscilla’s ex fiancé Logan Michaels; Nick Waters and his right-hand man Jose Deleon, as well as Priscilla’s mother Mrs. Miller.
WHEN HE’S BAD is a story of betrayal, vengeance, family and relationships. The character driven premise is intriguing and energetic but not much happen until the final chapter ; the characters are strong and stubborn; the romance is passionate and intense.

He captures my hand and his eyes meet mine again, a punch of emotion between us. “Pri,” he murmurs. “There are so many things you need to know.”“And you’ll tell when the time is right. And I’ll prove to you that I’m not fair-weathered. I’m not in this, any of this, most certainly, not us, because it’s easy. But it is right and I’m not going anywhere.”
“I’m not going to tell you that you’re wrong. I don’t think I have it in me to let you go.”
“Good,” I say, relieved that the tug of war is over. No more promises of hate. No more foreboding goodbyes. “Finally,” I add. “And right now, I just really want to be with you. To be with us.” I shove him backward onto the mattress, climbing on top of him, straddling him. “Don’t let them win,” I say, my hands on his chest, the thick ridge of his erection pressed to the hot spot between my thighs. “Don’t let them make you believe you’re like them. You’re not.”
He rolls me over, his leg sliding between mine, his big body pressed to mine, his elbow by my side, holding up his upper body. “I could say a lot of things right now.”
“Should I say them for you? You’re bad. Too bad. So very bad.”
“No,” he says softly. “I’m not going to say those things anymore. You know. You don’t care.”
“Now you’re starting to understand.” My fingers curl on his jaw. “But just in case you decide to go down that rabbit hole again, I’m alone in a sea of sharks. Do you think you’ll save me by walking away?”
His eyes darken, lashes lowering once more as he murmurs, “What are you doing to me, woman?” and then his mouth crashes down on mine, his tongue stroking long, deep, slow.
He lets me taste his anguish, pain, self-hatred. But there’s more. There’s his unyielding need for me and us. There is our unexplainable, impossible-to-deny bond. A bond it seems created in blood.
The kiss transforms and becomes another. And this kiss, this kiss is passion, so much passion, and tenderness. We savor each other, this time that somehow feels as if it’s all the time we have, despite every promise we’ve made that there will be more, so much more.
