REVIEW:ANGEL’S SHARE is the eighteenth and final instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary, adult MOONLIGHT AND MOONSHINE erotic,romance series set in the author’s BLUEGRASS DYNASTY series. This is sixty something, retired obstetrician and Dominant Dr. Mark Walters, and fifty-something veterinarian Dr. Darcy Ballard’s story line. ANGEL’S SHARE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty .

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including scenes of BDSM, Domination and submission, and struggles with mental illness, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Mark and Darcy) ANGEL’S SHARE follows the contemptuous relationship between sixty something, retired obstetrician and Dominant Dr. Mark Walters, and fifty-something veterinarian Dr. Darcy Ballard. Dr. Darcy Ballard is struggling in the wake of her ex boyfriend moving on without her. Desperate for some control, Darcy discovers a local BDSM club where she is determined to become a Dominatrix, and use her anger to dominate the men in her life but all does not go according to plan when Darcy finds herself falling for another Dominant, Dr. Mark Walters, a man she is hoping to submit to her ways. As Darcy and Mark’s relationship becomes one of Domination and submission, Darcy is desperate for something more, and in doing so, threatens the life of someone close. What ensues is the building romance and questionable relationship between Darcy and Mark, and the fall-out as Darcy’s choices lead to dangerous outcomes, and a loss of control.

The world building focuses on the building relationship between Mark and Darcy, a relationship that mean something different to both Mark and Darcy. Mark doesn’t want forever-been there, done that with too many regrets but Darcy wants everything from Mark, and is willing to sacrifice anyone who gets in her way.

The relationship between Mark and Darcy begins as a D/s relationship; a professional BDSM affair in which Darcy begins to cross the line, a line from which she may never come back. Darcy entered into the lifestyle to take control of her life but discovered in order to take control, she is giving up everything and everyone for whom she once cared. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive and erotic.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Darcy’s ex Carson O’Malley and his wife Marilee; Mark’s brothers Vic, and Tony Walters (Legacy of Love/Legacy of Memories); Darcy’s daughter Allison, and her grandmother Claudette. Many of Deanndra Hall’s story lines include a ‘community’ of secondary characters that jump in to help when there is trouble including local law enforcement, family and friends.

ANGEL’S SHARE is a story of power and control, Domination and submission, mental and emotional illness , acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is heart breaking and tragic ; the romance is provocative; the characters are broken, disturbed and desperate, and as such, it will take a deep understanding and honesty to like and accept the story line heroine. Darcy is a difficult heroine to like, and forgiveness won’t come easy for many readers.
