Being a bachelor has its perks. It also has its downside. Just ask Derek Bettencourt.

Standing on stage and being auctioned off in the name of charity is awkward AF… until his business partner’s younger sister wins him for the weekend. He’s all hers to do with as she pleases and he can’t say he’s unhappy with the prospect. Especially since she saved him from an ex-fiancée determined to get her claws into him again.

Jessica Cavanaugh never intended to bid on the man she’s had a lifetime crush on. But her spur-of-the-moment decision gives her a chance to exact a bit of playful payback, for old time’s sake. And Derek is all too happy to indulge Jessica’s whims.

What starts as a fun, flirty, game, with Derek acting as her personal handyman, quickly turns into a steamy and forbidden weekend. Lines are crossed that they never intended and emotions unravel their playful facades. Afterward, he can’t get the gorgeous, full-figured woman out of his head and he’s determined to make her his.

But how can they concentrate on a future when someone is threatened by their relationship and will do anything to come between them?

REVIEW:  JUST A LITTLE HOOKUP is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult DARE CROSSOVER erotic, romance series co-authored by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. This is plus size/ curvy  fashion designer Jessica Cavanaugh, and mergers and acquisitions billionaire Derek Bettencourt’s story line. The DARE cross over series is interconnected with the authors’ KINGSTON Family, DARE and DIRTY DARE series. Derek was first introduced in JUST ONE TASTE (The Kingston Family #7)

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jessica and Derek) JUST A LITTLE HOOKUP follows the building romance and relationship between plus size / curvy fashion designer Jessica Cavanaugh, and mergers and acquisitions billionaire Derek Bettencourt. Jessica Cavanaugh has had a crush on her brother’s best friend and business partner Derek Bettencourt for as long as she can remember but Derek’s well to do, and politically connected family had other plans for their golden child. A Dare/Kingston bachelor auction fundraiser for children in the foster care system finds Jessica betting on the man that calls to her heart but betting for all the wrong reasons. Derek’s ex-fiance is determined to reclaim our story line hero beginning with winning Derek at the fundraising event . With her own ulterior motives, Jessica outbids Derek’s vindictive ex, placing herself in the direct line of fire. Three days with Derek ended with our couple professing their needs and desires but Derek’s ex is determined to destroy our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Derek and Jessica, and the potential fall-out as a social media smear campaign threatens to take down everything Jessica has worked for and earned.

The relationship between Derek and Jessica is a best friend’s younger sister relationship but in an effort to avoid future confrontation Derek makes his attraction know, avoiding any possible ramifications with his best friend and business partner. Derek spent three days with Jessica, doing as she ‘bid’ but three days wasn’t enough for our story line hero. Jessica Cavanaugh is and has always been a curvy girl/woman and her designer line of clothes proves she knows what curvy woman want but jealousy and betrayal are about to add fuel to an already fragile ego when the past is determined to take her down. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense with some scenes and talk of spanking and bondage.

The secondary and supporting characters include Derek’s sister Nikki, and her fiance Asher Dare (Just One Taste); Derek’s friend/Jessica’s brother Ben Cavanaugh; Derek’s ex fiance Claire, his parents, Claire’s mother, and several members of the Dare/Kingston family.

JUST A LITTLE HOOKUP is a story of betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and desperation, power and money, family, friendships, relationships, and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and exciting; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined, dynamic and charismatic.
