Roses Are Red
Violets Are Blue
I hold the aces,
The loser is you.

My name is Rose, and I have a gift—call it a supreme “intuition.”

I’m the last one people suspect of cheating, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Cards are my game, and Vegas is my playground. What I’m doing might bend the law a little, but I dare them to prove it.

Storm Montgomery thinks he’s got my number. He’s bound and determined to stop me. He insists I’m going to get caught. Fat chance.

Except he might be right, because now I’m running for my life and he’s the only one who can save me.

Welcome to Nursery Crimes, where tales are twisted and happily ever after’s are not always guaranteed…

REVIEW:ROSES ARE RED by Kristine Allen is volume seven in the contemporary, adult HEELS, RHYMES AND NURSERY CRIMES multi-authored, erotic, romance series. This is thirty-year old, billionaire Storm Montgomery, and twenty-three year old, card shark Rose Kristiansen’s story line. ROSES ARE RED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Some of the characters from the author’s Royal Bastards MC series cross over for cohesion and familiarity.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Storm and Rose) ROSES ARE RED follows Rose Kristiansen as the tangles with the big players in Las Vegas, Nevada. A one night stand with billionaire Storm Montgomery finds our heroine skipping town only to find herself, months later, the target of the Russian mob. Desperate for help, Rose contacts Storm Montgomery, her one-night stand from months earlier. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Storm and Rose, and the fall-out as the target on Rose demands payback and more.

The relationship between Storm and Rose begins as a one-night stand wherein our heroine disappears the next morning but is never forgotten by Storm Montgomery. With a target on her back, Rose is desperate when she reaches out to Storm, a reconnection that will reveal so much more. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

ROSES ARE RED is a story of obsession, power, money and control. Kristine Allen pulls the reader into a slightly paranormal novella wherein our heroine’s abilities help her to win against the odds but winning places her in the direct line of fire, and the Russian mob is demanding payback in full. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and engaging;the romance is seductive; the characters are animated and dynamic.
