ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date

As the firstborn King, I should be the heir of the Irish Syndicate.
Instead, my father wants to marry me off to the highest bidder to fund a war I don’t believe in.

My carefully controlled life starts to unravel, spiralling out of control faster than I can stop it.

And then I meet them and everything stops for a moment.
Tall with perpetual smirks and covered in tattoos, they remind me what it feels like to live.

They remind me that I don’t need someone to save me.
I’m a King. I can save myself.

REVIEW: THE WREN is the first instalment in Penelope Black’s contemporary, adult KING SISTERS / LAS VEGAS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is the introductory story line focusing Irish Syndicate princess Maeve ‘The Wren’ King. THE WREN and The King Sisters is a spin off from, and interconnected to the author’s THE BROTHERHOOD series. Several characters cross-over for cohesion and familiarity.

Told from several first person perspectives including Maeve King, and Italian Mafia brothers Romeo, Tommy and Nico Santorino, THE WREN follows several paths, focusing on Maeve King, Irish Syndicate princess, as she is sold to the highest bidder, a sale procured by her father in an effort to regain power and control. Refusing to go along with her father’s plans for an arranged marriage, Maeve sets a plan into motion to gain her freedom, and the freedom of her four younger sisters but Maeve’s life continues to spiral when a new buyer sets his sights on our story line heroine, a buyer who refuses to give up the ultimate prize.

Maeve King aka The Wren is a force unto herself. Unlike most ‘mob princesses’ Maeve and her sisters work outside of the box, in an effort to take down those they deem the lowest of the low but Maeve is about to face the ultimate battle when marriage to the mob reveals a familiar face, and not necessarily the face she thought she would see.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Maeve’s sisters Kiera, Ava, Rosie and Fiona, and their father ‘The Hammer’ ; Romeo, Nico and Tommy Santorino, and their parents Vito and Sloane, as well as old school mobster Milo Milano.

THE WREN is a detailed story line focusing on family and loyalty, betrayal and determination , power, control, and retribution. The fast paced premise is intriguing and inviting; the characters are energetic and dynamic; the romance has barely scratched the surface of relationships or love. THE WREN ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
