But she’s been quietly searching, gathering evidence and building her case at great personal risk. When she learns that the company is about to target another innocent man because of what he knows, she intervenes, risking it all to warn him and steal secret company files. When a phone call from a stranger alerts him that he’s in imminent danger, it triggers an irreversible chain reaction. On the run while trying to track down the woman who warned him, their paths suddenly collide. He doesn’t know if he can trust her, but now it’s the two of them against the shadowy forces tracking their every move. REVIEW:CORNERED is the second instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporay, adult CRIMSON POINT PROTECTORS erotic, romantic suspense series-a spin off from the author’s Crimson Point series. This is Air National Guard Pararescueman Brandon Whitaker, and executive assistant Jaia Sidhu’s story line. CORNERED can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading book one where the reader is first introduced to Brandon Whitaker.

Told from third person perspective CORNERED follows Jaia Sidhu’s search for the truth. Jaia works for an organization once known as Graystone, an organization with close connections to the seedier side of the government underworld. Within days of her brother’s first assignment for Graystone, everything spiralled out of controlled, and Jaia’s brother Sukhi was killed in a road accident while on patrol in Yemen, a death Graystone went to great lengths to cover up. Working on her own to ferret out the truth, Jaia will discover that Graystone has ordered a hit on a man named Brandon Whitaker, and Jaia places herself in danger, to warn our hero about his impending demise. Brandon Whitaker has no idea who is leaking information about the Graystone Organization but the information is about to place him in the direct line of fire. Jaia Sidhu knows she has run out of time, so our heroine leaves Tampa Florida for Portland Oregon where she will be quickly enveloped by the Crimson Point team. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jaia and Brandon, and the potential fall-out as a hit has been ordered on our story line couple, revealing a deeper and darker plan to destroy them both.

The relationship between Brandon and Jaia begins as online strangers. Jaia is desperate to turn over the information she has ‘stolen’ from her current employer,, and Brandon Whitaker is the only man she can trust. While on assignment in Yemen, Brandon was captured and tortured for information he knew nothing about but the name ‘Graystone’ was often mentioned and a high priority for the people in charge. Upon his rescue Brandon finds that the Graystone Organization may be involved in criminal activity both at home and abroad, and his search brings him up close and personal with our story line heroine. Jaia never expected to find herself on the run but falling for Brandon Whitaker meant falling for a man who had stolen her heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are re-introduced to Brandon’s sister Kerrigan and her boyfriend Air National Guard Pararescueman Travis Masterson, psychologist Mia Ramos, and pararescueman Asher “Groz” Grozinski; Boyd and Ember; former Delta operator Callum; Jaia’s boss Robert Giesbrecht; Graystone CEO Douglas Lawrence; and reluctant assassin for hire Val. The requisite evil has many faces.

CORNERED is a story of power and control; betrayal and vengeance; espionage and secrets, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are energetic and dynamic.

•••••••••

REVIEW:  DANGEROUS SURVIVOR is the seventh and final instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult CRIMSON POINT romantic, suspense series-a spin off from the author’s KILL DEVIL HILLS series. This is forty-eight year old, former US Special Forces soldier Boyd Masterson, and thirty seven year old, IT specialist Ember Thiessen’s story line. DANGEROUS SURVIVOR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Ember’s story begins in book six DEADLY VALOR.

Told from several third person perspectives including Ember and Boyd DANGEROUS SURVIVOR follows in the aftermath of a mass killing wherein Ember Thiessen is the only one to survive. Returning to Crimson Point to retrieve her brother’s dog, Ember comes face to face with former US Special Forces soldier Boyd Masterson, the man she met months before. Trying to bring some closure to her life, Ember rents a cabin in Crimson Point only to find herself homeless within a matter of hours when a watermain breaks, flooding the house. Reluctant to bother anyone else, Ember calls Boyd Masterson, who offers up his home to our story line heroine but Ember’s world is, once again, about to spiral out of control, when one of the gunman escapes from prison, and sets his sights on taking down any witnesses, including our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Boyd and Ember, and the potential fall-out as our couple are target, and Ember’s time in Crimson Point comes to a close.

Ember Thiessen survived the execution style killing of her brother and friends, but when a call reveals the location of her brother’s missing dog, Ember is willing to take Mozzie home, a piece of her brother she never knew she would miss. Boyd Masterson is a loner having experienced betrayal and hardship while in the US army. Never having realized the dog that he rescued belonged to one of the victims of the gangland style murder, Boyd is overwhelmed when the woman who arrives is someone he ‘knows’- the attraction is immediate and palpable. When the Feds and local law enforcement recommend witness protection for our story line heroine, Boyd believes he can protect Ember better than anyone else.

The relationship between Ember and Boyd begins as acquaintances in the wake of so much destruction and loss. Ember had hoped to regain some of the peace she lost with the murder of her brother but never expected to find love with the man who would save her life. Boyd doesn’t do relationships, preferring to remain alone in his cabin in the woods, but meeting Ember stirs something long forgotten, something Boyd is hoping until the end of time. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include most of the couples introduced in the previous story lines: Sheriff Noah Buchanan and Poppy, Aidan and Tiana, Jase and Molly, Danae and Ryder, as well as the introduction of Boyd’s son, Air Force Tech Sergeant/ pararescueman/physician assistant Travis Masterson. Travis’s story begins in FALLING HARD, book one of new spin off-CRIMSON POINT PROTECTORS SERIES.

DANGEROUS SURVIVOR is a story of grief and loss, murder and vengeance, family, friendships, relationships and love but also a story that introduces the characters and sets up the background for the author’s new series. The premise is intriguing, engaging and exciting; the romance is seductive and spicy; the characters are energetic, determined, and charismatic.

REVIEW: UNDERCURRENT is the first instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult KILL DEVIL HILLS romantic, suspense series. This is thirty-five year old, Coast Guard vet turned mechanic Bowie Davenport, and thirty-one year old, Aspen Savich’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Bowie and Aspen UNDERCURRENT follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-five year old, Coast Guard vet turned mechanic Bowie Davenport, and thirty-one year old, Aspen Savich. Aspen Savich’s move to Kill Devil Hills (KDH), North Carolina came in the wake of her beloved great uncle’s death, having inherited his home and so much more but Aspen’s arrival in KDH requires a mechanic when her uncle’s old ‘woody’ begins to break down. Enter mechanic and garage owner Bowie Davenport. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bowie and Aspen, and the potential fall-out as demons from the past control Bowie Davenport, and Aspen’s move to Kill Devil Hills is followed by a series of accidents and break ins that may be related to her uncle’s will.

Bowie Davenport struggles to move on from the past having never forgiven himself for sins of the past. Meeting Aspen Savich stirred something deep within our story line hero something he hasn’t felt for a very long time but someone is targeting our story line heroine, and Bowie is desperate to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love. Aspen Savich knows loss but moving to Kill Devil Hills gives our heroine a new chance at life but the past refuses to let go, and with it, comes the guilt, and a grudge meant to destroy everything she loves. A spunky woman with a fancy for retro-chic, Aspen hopes to open a food truck in the small town of Kill Devil Hills.

The relationship between Aspen and Bowie is one of immediate attraction but Bowie battles between head and heart having loved and lost. Meeting Bowie gives Aspen thoughts about a future, and permanently settling down in North Carolina but neither one was prepared for the firestorm of palpable sexual attraction and chemistry. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Bowie’s siblings: Harper and Chase, as well as Aspen’s next door neighbour Jack, and his dog Sinbad. The requisite evil has many faces.

UNDERCURRENT is a story of loss and grief; jealousy and desperation; love, relationships, and friendships. The premise is fast paced, intriguing and engaging; the romance is tender and seductive; the characters are flirty, broken and energetic.
